I have topped Auntie Archetta Cash and decided to honour my diary name by inaugurating it with one of my experiment . So I have put some wire across the head of the basil plant and put it through the cash crop with lots of mycorrhizae, how do you think it will react?

@Whitenoise666 whilst basil is an excellent choice as companion plants for cannabis it WILL NOT cross species with cannabis

This will not likely work. Two very different species, you tend to graph like species toghter, eg apples or tomatoes. royal gala, golden delicious, granny smith ext. Good Luck!

Well, unfortunately the great UK weather has given us another of his surprises. We had a summer hailstorm over this side of the country and the basil head unfortunately did not keep it with the storm and I found it out the vase, I thought the tape and stick would have been strong enough for a summer rain but surely wasn't expecting hailstorm!!!!! Oh well, I had to make another cutting so I have re topped it and made another talea of cash crop.. If it survives, good, otherwise never mind as I since she had heat burn from the 42° sunny day, she really hardly grown since so.. I consider I a bit of a lost case and will just let it grow by herself outdoor till it lasts.

@Organoman thanks for replying. I don't mind basil as I come from the land which represents it so be nice to have some smell of it, but if you notice I have potted it fairly far from the babies so by the time the roots meet...i Will be probably trying to bring the plant in re-veg state post flowering! When it comes to that 34-0-0, it's just slow release topping which is pure amine groups and doesn't hurt bird or wild life so I assume it's safe.. by the time it starts releasesing in the soil it's probably going to be week 7 I assume.. we will see. When it comes to the head transplant, I have made a star cut on each plant and put them together, holding by tape and a wooden stick for extra support. For now the basil leafs are green and looking strong still! Let's see what happens!!!!

Mycorrhizae will not encourage healing or grafting...... sorry, .......neither will "rooting" hormones... You need to "splice" them together and hold the parts in place with grafting tape......as you have done and there is no need to add any treatments of any sort. Unfortunately your basil will not produce THC and I doubt it will grow.... but you never know! On another issue, growing lots of basil next to your cannabis plants can lead to the buds tasting and smelling like basil rather than cannabis buds when ripe, which is awful to smoke (ask me how I know!), unless of course if you love basil that is. Go easy on the feeding too, less is more with cannabis and anything with numbers like 34-0-0 is a definite no-no!

Check the diary for updated pictures with the proper method! I have used both powder and liquid mycorrhizae, let's see what happens. The basil head looks still strong for now and leafs are up, doing much better than the weed top I have cut and placed in soil with mycorrhizae and fish shit ... Let s see

Ok, recovery surgery done. Obviously the wire method wasnt going to be any good as an external body wouldn't be nice to have in a wound so.. I have cut a new basil head, have made split cuttings on both ends, put more mycorizzhae powder, tape and a stick and let's see what happens !!!

Thinking I might just replace the wire with a vertical and lateral cut on each plant and then I press them together and put some tape... Sorry for the changes, I thought the experiment was over!

Not sure if I should replace that wire with a wooden stick? Will metal infect it ? But it's garden wire so I don't think it's metal, otherwise it would conduct electricity and it doesn't!

Another question, what if I put the head of auntie archetta cash same way as I did for basil, but on top of the basil plant ? Would it then continue grow on top of the basil? And so should I now expect the basil to grow on top of the cash crop and possibly harm her growth too? Or will it just continue growth sideways as I have topped it before the head transplant?
