This depends highly on your lights specs, some can be as close at 20cm/8" and other need to be far away aorund 75cm/30" or higher. Given you light is a Mars Hydro ts1000 these are the recommended hang heights Seeding: 12" @ 50% Veg: 12" @ 75% Bloom: 12" @ 100% Use the dimmer to your advantage :D https://www.mars-hydro.com/ts-led-grow-lights/ts-1000-led-grow-light Hit view more at end of page and scroll to find the suggested hag height infographic. Play aorund with them and do what works best for your plants. Some strains like a more intense light vs others. Crap, I didn't answer your question. The distance for seedlings under your light should be the same as in veg and flower. But, the intensity should be a lot less. About 40%-50%, depending on genetics. I hope this helps.

Nice, a fellow GDP grower! Your light specs say 12"-16" at 65%-75% for veg and 12-16" at 90%-100% for flower. Good luck with your GDP grow! Let me know how the auto version goes for you.

I put my lights up as high as they will go in my tent and turn them on the brightest they will go... I figure seedlings have to deal with the sun in an outdoor grow and they do just fine - so this has been my approach from my first grow until now... and I've had no regrets... If you find your seedlings are getting leggy with too much stretch, just lower the lights to about 24" - but I've never had to do that. It will all depend on the lights you have... if they're weak, they'll need to be closer. Good luck!

Sprouting delay. How long do I wait? Are lights on and fans running important while waiting for germinated seeds to sprout? I lightly water the medium.Germinated autos by paper towel method, & put them in soil 2 days ago. The still haven't sprouted out of the soil. How long should I wait? Why did my seedlings all die?My seedlings all died. This is the second time. What am I doing wrong? They germinate, I plant them in Promix HP soil, they pop up in a few days. I move them to the tent. Most of them never even lose their seed caps before they die, but a couple get real leaves first.
