Sudden deterioration and death

Any guesses what happened to this one? It's gone, but it was rather quick. Nothing changed in the routine. My best guess is heat from the previous week.

Hi, seeing as there are no yellow leaves on the adjacent sunflower, I would confidently say its a complete lack of water, when its hot leafy plants transpire like crazy...that water need to be replaced. Perhaps in future a good layer of mulch or straw on the top of soil would retain moisture better and if you could somehow keep those fabric pots out of the drying wind as well because they are worse than terracotta for rapid evaporation. Perhaps a capillary wick system would suit your method..that way you can be confident the plants can access all the water they like and have the wherewithal to withstand a bit of heat. Good Luck!

You get that when you dry them out and don't water them too bad could have been quite something .....

That plant looks like it was killed by heat and no water, so the roots died first then the top. Outdoors I find fabric pots a bit to airy and the root mass dries out to fast. indoors they are great. I would recommend trying some plastic pots or a larger planter that can't dry out to fast.

Yes, unfortunately she dried out due the hot weather and not enough water. Give her a good amount of water now like 30% of your pot volume. And when her leaves are hydrated again then cut the brown leaves and water her every morning when it is really hot outside. Then 10 - 20% of your pot volume will do. Goodluck!

omg... how terribly SAD!!! Heat will do that, yes it will... but had you noticed anything like fungus gnats or other critters that might have been chewing on the roots? Oh that just makes me want to cry! And I feel your pain - the heat and humidity did in two of my plants ... sigh... Hope you have others that are still alive and kicking?
