plants growing in the wild will never have the opportunity to be flushed and it is something growers have adapted as part of their style because of how lazy we have become on feeding.
The only time a flush is needed is if the fertilizer concentrations are to strong and they build up in the medium. Doing a flush end of life will make the fan leaves turn colours sure, but it is not moving "chemicals" out of the buds.
The plants are cannibalizing themselves to keep the buds alive, that's its soul purpose for living is to reproduce. It does not flush anything out of them. This has been tested in labs. It also does not make the ash burn cleaner "whiter", this is also debunked in labs and is due to how hot the joint burns and that is in turn related to how dry the bud is and its density inside the paper.
In short if you want to only give them ph'd water the last week of life and save some money on nutrients. go for it; I think its a good plan, Just don't lie to yourself and say its making a cleaner smoke. That shit gets broken down in the curing phase. something that is a whole topic all on its own with many segways into other topics.
Good Luck!
