you can dry anywhere... in fact a tent is not the best place to dry unless you can more easily control temp / RH% in there. Light is the other evil to avoid while drying as best you can.
mid-60s F / 55-62% RH will give you a nice slow dry period. Do your best to mimic that. As long as it doesn't dry in 2-3 days, should avoid disaster. In winter with furnace on, i am happy to get a 7-day drying period. If you can hit these numbers, it'll be closer to 10-14 days.
you need more than an occasional openign of tent, so either leave it open or get an intake or exhaust going. circulation is good, but you don't want a wind-tunnel going across your buds, that will just dry them out too fast and only on surface. Another potential snag when using a tent... doesn't take much to create a strong wind current in a small space.
a dark room is better. Can use the frame of your tent or just open it up. They usually zip open 3 of the 4 walls, which is good enough if you plan to use it again soon. if storing, just fold up canvas and use the frame for a bit longer.
light is the devil, but if you also smoke the buds within 6 months, it's not going to make a huge difference if you lose a few molecules of THC in drying process. Less than 1-year storage isn pretty easy to do well and simply. Use 2-way humidity packs and try best to keep it cool/dark. >1 year of storage and you need to be a bitmore anal about it. Bet a bit more concerned about light and temperatures etc. You will lose potency over time, that is inevitable.. but the rate at which it is lost can be reduced.
3-6 months you won't notice much regardless but you will appreciate teh benefits of a properly stored bud at 55-62% RH and mid to upper 60s F. Those 2-way humidity packs keep the buds at proper moisture levels and it won't turn to dust when you break it up at any point. unless you can control humidity well on your own, they are the "easy button" as long as you don't seal up wet buds too early.
