nodes too tight? give less light. Less light will make it stretch faster, but it'd be a very specific and rare instance where you'd want to actually do that...
if node spacing is what you want, it's gowing at the speed you want it to grow and just needs the time to do what you want.
it will stretch more than 8-10" in most cases... that assumption is probably based on a slow growth rate garden and why anecdotes should be taken as a gain of salt more times than not. so many factos go into that beyond just genetics.
Expect that plant to at minimum double in size and probably 18-24" height after flip to flower. vege growth continues for 4-5 weeks... tapers off near end, but think of how growth is increasingly faster than before... that plant will only grow faster per day the older it is (limited by pot size and how efficiently you feed it of course).
growth is exponential at least intiially... it will taper off at some point due to physical constraints. you thought it grew fast last week? "next" week will be faster.
