This is my first dutch bucket run and my reservoir pH is rising quite a bit daily. I pH down to 5.8 to 6.0 and within 24hrs it's back up to 6.6 6.7. Rinse and repeat. Is this normal or is something out of whack. I know pH will drift a little in a hydro system but this much?

@Ga4rd2en0er Thats a hard name to write , What is the ppm doing ? is it rising or falling or remaining the same ? usually it will rise like that if the plant has taken up a heap of water thus changing the ph of the now more concentrated solution

I use general hydroponics maxi nutrients and they are the most stable nutrients you can get. I never have to adjust them after the initial adjustment at water change. I have tried several brand base nutes and boosters. Most of them will fluctuate every couple days.

Just ask @BigDaddyK, he’s an Hydro Grower, he will probably know why you’re having pH fluctuations and might have some few good tips to give you to keep it stable.

hey there G , yeah pretty normal because why ? as you know your nutrient is alive and not sterile plus your plant and its root system are also alive so there's a fair amount of "breathing" happening and this is what causes the fluctuations. What you're trying to do is manage that process best you can and there are a few ways to do it. The solution for your is to actually add more chelation agent to your mix, at this stage you should be using a chelation agent like hydroguard, h202, or something like that for hydro , adding this should help solve your problem somewhat. Hope this helps ! rocket:
