Dense nugs result from more than just what you're feeding the plants. Everything from genetics to air flow plays a part. Indica plants tend to have naturally denser buds than sativa for a start. There are supposedly many additives you can give your plants that will help make denser buds as well, although I'm not sure whether any of them actually work - plenty of experienced growers will tell you they're snake oil. For me, the single most important thing in getting nice dense buds is keeping your environment exactly right during flower - which includes lots of fans pushing air around the bud sites and the right temperatures. You then need to dry and cure the buds properly once it's all done or you'll undo all your hard work. Good luck!
