a photoperiod only flowers when it has a long enough uninterrupted dark cycle. So, your hours of darkness caused this to happen. Take note of the date, becaue most photoperiods will flower around the same point.. figure at least 3 weeks ago it started flowering, i bet, based on development on plant.
it's a hormonal response.. in dark hours a particular hormone is produced. the moment enough of it exists in the plant, the plant reacts and switches gears. any interruption of dark period was casuse a re-vege to an already blooming plant, but if you blast it with light before it starts flowering for an hour or 2 at night, you might be able to aviod it in future. or add 2 hours at end of day etc... > 10 hours of darkness is what you want to avoid. not all plants will flower with a 10 hour dark period but some will. the 12/12 cycle is just to be safe for indoor growers. 13/11 is relatively safe too, but i've heard a small percentage may still flower under that.
