Hi I was thinking for drying my latest crop to just cut plant hang upside down in grow tent and put the extraction fan on for 5 minutes twice an hour last time I had extraction fan on all the time and ruined my crop does anyone have any suggestions on a better method?

Yeah, science is nice and correct parameters are nicer. To answer your question in a practical hands on way: Rigth after harvest run the AC for a day 15 min on 2 h 45 off. 2nd day 15 on - 3h45m off 3rd day 15 on - 5 h off and so on You need to experiment with the intervals. Depends of course on the volume of the drying mass and the structure of the buds. Maybe hook a small fan to same timer loop so that it spins the air around in the drying box every time the air gets replaced. It will even the moisture. You shouldn't dry your nugs all the way like this. Give them few days and then put in jars or tight boxes. Then you really control the humidity and temp. And do the real taste developing process. I hope this helps 😋

Low and slow is the name of the game, once chopped the plant will start breaking down, idea is to keep 60-65 rh whilst keeping temps below 67 but above 60, one cannot stress enough you Cannot let any spikes happen if it drops to 30-40% for any length of time. In a sealed space with decaying plant the RH will always rise, have a small humidifier keep rh at 55% plus ambient or as close as you feel comfortable, and have the exhaust fan set to come on above 62% within a range of 2-3 this should keep margins pretty tight. RH% acts like sponges between atmospheres if the plant has RH of 90% within its leaves and the tent has 40%rh the rh of the space will look to equalize until both RH are the same, if one was to keep RH% at 40 inside the tent the plant would rapidly discard water content % until internally the plant reached 40% rh then being equalized RH would stop leeching out the plant. By keeping a strict 63%rh the plant all over will equally reduce its RH% to 63 and then remain there, this keeps ample amounts of water long enough for the other biological processes taking place within the stems. Why is this important? All the shit that makes your weed taste harsh is ejected by the plant but in order to do so it needs to attach each piece of "garbage" to a water molecule to be whisked away and released by evaporation, if the water content dries up or goes below a set point before these processes are finished then you will be left with the taste of green we so often take for granted. There is no watermark to this, the longer the better, the more stable you keep it the better the process. airflow within the tent should be kept minimal, so long as your open it once a day or so I never have problems. Good luck again.

The main thing you truly need is to keep your humidity around 60%. If you buy a humidifier that turns on and off we needed that will be perfect for you.

want extraction fan to come above 62- 63rh, absoloutley no airflow directly hitting plants.
