What equipment do you use for creating time lapses?

I've setup a Wyze Cam V3 Pro, and while it claims to be 2K resolution the picture is really poor. I've heard some people use retired phones for this, what's your method?

I use an old phone and use an app called premium camera, I set that to take the amount of pictures I want through lights on, then once its finished I use an app called pic pac motion capture to put all the pictures in to make the lapse video.
