When it comes to defoliation, I know the main purpose is to hack the leaves that are covering bud sights. Should sugar leaves be spared and only trim fan leaves?

When it comes to defoliation, the main purpose is indeed to remove leaves that are blocking bud sites and impeding light penetration. As for sugar leaves, they can be spared during defoliation, especially if they are not obstructing the development of the buds. Sugar leaves can contribute to the overall appearance and resin production of the plant. However, if there are excessive or damaged sugar leaves that are affecting airflow or creating shading, it may be beneficial to remove them as well. It's important to find a balance and assess each plant's specific needs. Happy growing!

@Bmolly thx! I have one that is loaded w/ sugar leaves, and some will have to go. I will leave - no pun intended - as many small ones as possible
