snap stems low enough so that power of light remains at 100% -- or whatever "100%" normally is for your bloom phase.
when you reduce power it disproportionately effects the lower areas and edges/corners. may not have a huge loss up top directly under the light, but amplified everywhere else.
after snapping you may need to support it, but if you snap it right it'll hang horizontally on its own. within a day or two you'll want to restrain it from growing upward again. so, maybe someting to hold it up/support it, then something to hold it down in a day or two.
