How am I doing? (1st indoor dwc grow)

Yeah wouldn’t recommend fox farms for hydro. Won’t go deep into why, just take that at face value.. there’s tons of other options. General hydroponics is a great, affordable, proven line (flora trio) Powder lines like Jacks 3-2-1, GH pro, Athena Pro Line are even more affordable in the long term - great for hydro where your mixing up larger batches. I used GH flora trio in most my DWC/Hydro runs with great results. Don’t get sucked in with all the supplemental bottles and line ups like advanced nutrients which ends up being like 13 bottles for one run. If you go GH flora trio you are golden with Micro, Bloom, Gro, Calmag usually needed, Koolbloom if you wanna push PK in bloom.

Thank you guys for the good answers and clarity, it’s very low budget and a lot of my components were bought off fb marketplace at a HUGE discount, the light and bulb came with the tent (yes it’s 2x4) I got for 40$, fans were 40$ and my bucket setup was roughly 20$ everything else I pretty much already had at home. As per y’all’s suggestion I’m looking into a 600 watt enclosed light, also getting a bigger air stone so that it stays in place and disperses more evenly, I was gonna go with fox farms hydro, as I’m familiar with the soil mixture but definitely looking into those Dutch nutes. Air stones: check Hydroton: check Exhaust fans: check Light: check (but overkill using a 1000w.) 600w is more advisable Air pump: Check Water Pump: Air circulation fan: check Heat is going to kill you in that space with that light. You'd be better off with a 600w HPS house in a enclosed hood with your extraction fans hooked to the light fixture exhausting the hot air out of the space. I've never done DWC before. I do RDWC because i like to keep my water moving and it also helps to distribute pH down and i also like to completely drain out and change my water weekly. That setup doesn't look like it will be easy to pH or change out your solution.

A 1000w HPS is gonna run HOT in what appears to be a 2'x4'(guessing) space. You'll probably need an air cooled hood for that big of a light. The open wing style reflectors still dump a lot of heat, even with good ventilation. It's still a whole lotta light for such a small space. Really a 600w would be more efficient and run cooler.

The go to nutrition for big time water growers is DNF. Dutch nutrient formula. Was made specifically for hydroponics and is all you need nutrition wise for dwc if not using this it is best to get a nutrient brand that is clear coloured, as dark nutrients can stain your roots, making it hard for beginners to see if slime and root rot are starting in the roots. No matter what nutrients you use a proper feed schedule is important. I have a feed program for water grows on my profile page your welcome to look over. Water grows stay at 5.8 ph through the entire veg cycle. Another good nutrient is cyco premium.
