There's not really a wrong answer here.. if you want to take the top cola off and then let the lower buds ripen more, it's not a risk of any kind.
even if you stressed the plant enough to grow nanners, that takes time to occur. it will not grow a nanner that can produce pollen overnight.. probably 5-7 days, minumum? maybe, even longer...
i don't thinkn it is likely to make financial sense, but that is not always the determining factor. A few more days of light doesn't cost too much in most cases. It may very slightly raise cost per gram of what you produce, but can be justified with the improved quality of lower buds... it's not going to turn airy buds into dense nugs, but will improve them a bit. Any ripening left to occur would be the room for improvement.
