I'll try to keep er nice and short. When it comes to defo in Flower, I/we don't like to take too much at a time. You certainly can defo, but going hog wild and taking it all in one go may stress her the heck out. I've been reading from other growers, and dong the same, which is to plan any defo around a feed day so they can recover quicker from the cuts. When we start taking fan leaves, start with the most intrusive ones (usually the biggest blocking the most light) on the lower end. I personally have started to take 3-4 fans at a time every 3-4 days and in two weeks the girls are nice and open with this continued, but slow defo process.
Take it slow, strategize the cuts and leaves you want to take and go for it👌. Keep the stress down with fewer cuts at a time and you've got it. If for some reason you do notice they react negatively, even to just a few cuts, maybe leave her be. Before I go, I'll leave you with one last tip that I use on a daily basis instead of defo. I like to keep my sugar leaves if I can. Rule of thumb is: IF you don't need to take it...don't. What I've been doing is gently massaging the fan leaf stems to make them some what malleable. When they become malleable, I can direct them into the position I want and open up the canopy where they were blocking light and air flow. These leaves will migrate back to their original position within 24-48 hours, but there are pretty good perks to this. No stress, you keep your valuable sugar maker and you achieve the same results. I will always try to massage first. If it ain't going to work out, then I'll defo. (couldn't do this in my do-si-dos so I have been doing this defo process with her, instead).
Anywho! Plants look great and congrats on bringing them to end game👍👍. I wish you luck with whatever course of action you take. Cheers brother (sister?). Hit me up in PM if you think I can help you with anything else!
