12/12 back to 18/6 light schedule?

I’m in wk7 of a DWC RQS RoyalJackAuto grow and it’s still in veg mode. Because of the lack of space I need to induce blooming so I’ve switched to a 12/12 light schedule. Once/if it starts flowering, can I switch back to 18/6?

With an autoflower you can go with whatever light cycle you want. Make sure you are still giving 35-40 DLI and it won't make a difference at all. In general if you add power inversely proportional to change in hours (i.e. 12 - 18 needs 2/3rds or 67% and 18-12 needs 3/2 or 150% to maintain same amount of energy per day delivered to the plant - you can see these are reciprocols of each other for obvious reasons). If you have a "non-auto" autoflower, which can happen occasionally, you would need to stick to the 12/12 to keep it in flower and avoid light leaks. Week 7 is borderline if you see no signs of sex, I'd be concerned but not 100% certain it is a dud auto. But, if it doesn't show any sign of flower after 8-9 weeks, you very likely have a photoperiod despite the packaging claims.

No, flowering in autos is controlled by age, not daylength.

might be a photoperiod due to how much backcrossing is involved to stabilizing the auto trait, could happen once in a while, switch to 12/12 and keep to12/12

You can induce flowering by a 12-12. ITS AN AUTO All your doing is lowering the DLI in an already tight window.. Autos, have 4 weeks, some less, some more and a light change like that will not induce flowering.

If it hasn't started flowering by now you will need to switch to 12/12, the chances are the seed didn't have the auto trate so is most likely photoperiod which may flower quick, if its that then you will need to stick to 12/12 once flipped.

I'm not very knowledgeable on autoflowers, thus I'm not the best source, but my understanding is that switching to 12/12 will not induce flowering in an autoflower. They should start automatically flowering at their determined time regardless of whether they're in 12/12 or 18/6 and switching to 12/12 will not get them to start flowering earlier. However, reducing the light to 12/12 should result in slower growth and you could manage their height that way.

Hi there mate, so from what I have understood you are growing a RQS RJAuto. Now considering that what you are growing is an AUTOflowering plant youdont have to change thing. The plant will start preflowing and flowering on her own without having to modify your light schedule, unlike the more wifely known photoperiod varietals out there. on the light schedule note: as you are having an auto, then bask that baby in as much light as you feel comfortable: personally run 20/4 on mine, but 18/6 works as well. looking forward to hear on how it went

If it's an auto why do you need to adjust your light to get it to flower?
