Same Genetics or Mistake in Packing?

Marbanya
Marbanyastarted grow question 1d ago
Both of these plants came from the same 5-pack of Purple Punch. Both were germinated, nurished and raised in identical environments. They smell similar but not exactly the same. Just a pheno expression, or do you think these are different genetics that were accidentally packed?

Yeah, that’s just how phenos work, especially with F1s like most of these packs. Even though both plants came from the same 5-pack and grew in the same exact setup, you're still gonna see differences pop up. Most F1 strains can throw out anywhere from like 30 to even 100+ different phenos depending on the genetics, and a lot of breeders don’t fully stabilize or test their lines before dropping 'em. There’s usually still some mutations or recessive genes floating around that haven’t been bred out yet, so you get all kinds of expressions even ones that seem pretty far apart. So yeah, what you're seeing is most likely just different phenos from the same strain, not a packing mix-up. It's super common.

If you’re lookin’ for more consistency like same structure, smell, effect, all that I’d suggest digging into F3s or F4s instead. Those are way more stable, with way less pheno variation compared to F1s. Breeders have usually done more work by that point, so you’re less likely to get surprises poppin’ up
