i find 90% of the 'flavors' listed don't actually happen. Or, it may smell like it but not taste like it. Sell seeds, first. Ask for forgivness, later.
I'm trying 3 'mint/pine' strains this fall... mountain top mint, kush mints and animal mints. The first is humboldt seed co, who specifically say they try to name the plants accurately to the expected flavors/smells. Would be nice to find a consistent breeder in that respect. This is my first time growing HSC seed. The others are from MSNL and i liked the results from oreoz and zoap before that, but again not entirely as advertised in the flavor department, but that's so prevalent i just focus on 'strong' plants and be happy with that. It's like a light manufacturer's spec sheet being inaccurate 90% of the time.. it's the 'norm' so it's hard to hold it against them. it is highly impactful for influencing people that don't know or won't learn the math involved.
I think all the exotic smells, visuals and such have had an overall negative effect on the gene pool -- like the smell of roses being bred out of them while focusing on other traits. Sure it sells seeds to the masses, but it's doing unseen damage to genetic variety for sure. And, they are supeficial traits of no value.. e.g. i don't give a fuck if buds are red or purple and if that selection process caused any negative impact to those strains, it was a retarded and short-sighted choice.
