The way you grew it out so far, you don't need to. Use the scrog to further spread out the branches. Get some garden wire (not the skinny cheap stuff that cuts through branches). Doesn't have to be the 'premium' wire either.. .just a little coating.

Avoid "that" type, lol. It's fine as long as no tension is applied, but bad for anything doing real work.
If you want to use the scrog to train stuff out horizontally, just have to bend it under each new square and keep repeating... it'll grow through it a few inchces, then bend it back under next part of scrog when it reaches far enough to do so. If vertical space is a big issue, this is the way to go.
You can probably save a bit of vege time by just continuing to shape the plant as it grows. Tie down branches to angle them outward and fill the same area as training under the scrog would accomplish. This may take a few extra inches of height by comparison, but less time as far as flipping to flower. That initial growth at flip is usually larf anyway (lollipopped more often than not). So the few inches of growth used to better position the colas is not lost yield.
unless vertical space is an extreme issue, this is a more efficient way to go.. less time/resources. saves money and effort.
Don't defoliate. Your canopy does not look to be overcrowded. There is no reason. Just training the branches to give each other more space will be enough from what i see. Defoliation is a bro science thing. You can avoid it 100% by simply not over-crowding the canopy. Some selective pruning is inevitable but 'defoliation' is a mass removal of leaves in some systematic way predicated on a belief that it somehow helps the plant focus on flower - which is insane and not true. Fewer leaves just makes the plant want to grow more leaves, lol.
If there is some congestion that can't be fixed with proper spacing of vertical branches, sure cut of a leaf or 2 to prevent condensation (pathogen risk) or warped/ugly/unhealthy leaf growth that can't trainspire properly or capture light effectively.
LEaves are lungs and storage facilities for the plant. It does numerous value-added things even if it does not capture intense light. Kep them. If the plant has too many leaves, it will shed some on its own. It knows better than you (except for pathogen risk, i guess as that's actualy 'thinking' as opposed to an evolved reaction)
You can see my plants spread out over time doing this - most recent weeks in most recent diaries -- they all have the same full garden pictures. There's a progression of pictures from day 38-42-49-56 and an update coming monday for 63 days. (flipped day 39)
You only want 2-4 colas per sq ft To maximize yield. Mine will end up around 2.7colas/sq ft. I was closer to 2/sq ft last year (2025-2 diary) and yield was still very good. Testing a few more this year and I do like 3/sq ft better than 2. i would only go to 4 if they were all like the mountaintop mint pheno i have. (2026-1).. stretchy AF. This is pretty hard to predict unless it's a clone and a fairly rare growth pattern in my experience... Had to HST it this week (update monday)
