Placed 3 Feminized Maui Waui Nirvana seeds from Seedsman into peat pucks. All 3 popped and were breaking the soil by the third day. Sprouts are receiving about 15k Lux from a Single spider farmer sf-1000 and a 400w MH bulb hung 15 inches above. Planted peat pucks into pro mix soil in half liter pots. They will eventually go into 5 gallon fabric smart pots under drip feeders. *Mid Week Update I decided I wanted to make a better soil mix for my seedlings than just pro mix, I repotted them using a mix of 2 parts soil, 2 parts worm casting, and 1 part coco coir. I mixed the batch up using a drill and a mixing attachment to blend it all together really well. As it will only be in this pot for a few weeks I did not add any other amendments. I am trying to create a nicely aerated medium that is not too hot. Luckily my germinated seeds were still confined in there peat pucks so I did not disturb them at all. The seedling are under my Spider farmer sf-1000 receiving between 5k to 6k lux. Its a pretty bright light so I had to dim down to 10%. I have t5 fluorescents but they take up too much space in the tent.

Veg stage hast started. All plants have decent roots, and true leaves forming. Growth has been fairly fast, a lot of stretch in the first few days which has leveled off now. Led light is set to 20% producing about 15l lux.

Plants were busting out of there pots on Friday, so I repotted them into the final homes. I used my regular mix with 1 part super soil, 1 part coco coir, Fox farms soil. But by Sunday the plants were showing severe leaf burn, when I check run off Ph it was at 4.2 So I gave all the plants a flush until I got a run off of 6.0 minimum. Within the last few days the plants have recovered and are showing vigorous growth. I need to remember in the future to ph balance the medium better. I think this happened because I am at the bottom of each bin in my soil mix. Plants are under a Spider Farmer SF-1000 which is doing the trick well at this point, but I am hoping to add another one soon to help fill in the veg room.

Wow these plants are growing fast. They have completely recovered from there super low ph. soil. The 3 seeded plants have fan leaves a few inches past the rim of the 5 gallon pots already. All 3 of the seeded plants have very nice thick stalks already. The cloned Maui has more nodes but is considerably smaller than the seeded plants. I topped the seeded plants this week and they have recovered from that as well and have split nicely. For the clone I bend it gently then LST train it with sticks to grow it sideways. These plants will likely spend 2 to 3 more weeks in veg before I flip them. Did not water or feed all week as the pots were very laden with water from the flushing I did to fix the PH issue. The pots are drying out now and will need water this week. Because of the Pots being so wet I also had the humidity down to 45 last week to help dry them out quicker seeing as there is not a lot of root mass to absorb the water. I did this to try to avoid algae and mold growing on the soil before it could dry out. As soon as I am back to regular watering i will adjust the Humidity back up to 60% during veg.

I topped the plants at the 5th set of branches this week and began training them into the scrog net. All 4 are doing great. The Cloned Maui has spread out much more than the 3 seed plants. But the stalks on the seed plants are much thicker and the leaves and branches are more vigorous and sturdy looking than those of the cloned plant. Plants are under a single spider farmer sf-1000 but will be going under HLG 600r spec led for flower. Has anyone had any experience with those lights ? I am looking to fully transition over from HID to LED and this will be my test run to see how well the HLG 600r will perform. I think 2 more weeks at most until I flip these ladies over. Maui waui has been a very pleasant strain to grow and smoke in my past harvests and I am looking forward to the variations these new Phenos may reveal. *Mid Week Update* My new HLG 600r spec lights arrived as well as my new Mars hydro 4x8 tent. I have never done a bloom cycle with Leds, I have always used HPS 1000w for flowering. These 2 HLG Leds are way brighter than the HID light tent. It hurts to look in the tent when these lights are on full blast. The mars hydro tent seems more durable and reflective then my Vivosun tent. I have moved the plants into the new room and placed them under the lights dimmed to 50% Controlling room temp is way easier in the led tent, and there is so much less crap taking up space in the room by not having cooled tubes and extra exhaust and circulating fans. I am very happy about these lights so far and the best part is Photos are so much easier to take during the grow. Right now the lights are on 24 hours as I am trying to fill in the scrog completely this time before I flip. I am looking to get the plants about 2 inches above the screen before I flip so that the buds are 6 to 8 inches above after the stretch which should increase yield. I have noticed that during the past few grows after flip my buds are only about 2 inches above the net. The penetration of light does not seem to diminish until about 8 inches from the top of the canopy. Which means I should be able to increase my current yield by a good bit. Feeding this week with Mild Base nutrients, Molasses, Sensizyme, Cal Mag and LNM "SM90"

Wow are these lights ever bright ! I had to turn them down to about 10% as the plants just could not keep up with it and were showing signs of over lighting stress. They have adjusted now and are receiving about 30k Lumens at the canopy. The canopy is nearly filled in I think one more week of veg and then I will flip. I will still get a bit more growth and stretch during preflower. Other crops I flip to early I think and I am losing out on valuable canopy real estate that could be covered. My goal is to have the tops 5-8 inches above the canopy after stretch. I defoliated 5 day sago but the canopy has already filled in the space. I am very pleased with these lights and cant wait to see what they do in veg. I am also noticing the new mars hydro tent I got seems to be a good bit more reflective than my Vivosun tent. I fed with Aggressive Base nutrients and Molasses as well as Hydrozyme, Silica, Calicum and Superthrive. I also top dressed with Bat guano.😀

Plants are all doing well and growing fast. The lights are still a bit strong for these guys so I moved them lights up a bit. Fed with fairly strong veg mix, thena supplement and water only feed once they had dried, and then a strongv eg feed again at the end of the week. The plants are burning through Nitrogen very fast. The canopy is almost completely filled in. Once every hole has a node or two I will begin the flip into preflower. I defoliated heavily to increase the amount of light getting to the center nodes. By two days later the plants had bushed out quite a bit. I think one more week before Flip should suffice. The Maui clone has quite a bit more nodes than the seeds. But the seed plants have much sturdier and healthier looking structures. I am excited to see if any other phenos express themselves. The Maui clone has been a great version in previous grows,

Hey Mate, Servus✌️ A bit depending on the strain and its stretch. But normally as soon as the plant is properly woven into the screen and blossoms had just turned up to the light again. At this point my target is reached, because I have created a super-even canopy where every blossom get the same amount of light. Good luck and happy trails for the rest of the way 🤞 Servus✌️ OimRausch

The plants had a great week, they recovered quickly from the defoliation and actually needed a second defoliation near the middle of the week. The plants have filled in the scrog screen very nicely. Every hole has a node or two and they are about 3 inches above the net. The lights are 28 inches away from the canopy and dimmed to about 80% I changed the light schedule today to 12/12. Preflower has taken 7 days in the past so I expect the same here. I ran out of Nutrients this week so i thought I would try something new. I picked up the Green Planet Dual Fuel base nutrients to try out.

The plants are growing like crazy, I defoliated heavily then they exposed shoots replenished the canopy within 3 days. I defoliated a second time and the canopy has already recovered again. I will likely defoliate one last time to expose as many bud sites as possible. I used a Soil ph meter to check at the root zone and It is showing 5.5 to 6.0 ph at the soil so I will water with a higher ph the next few times until I see them get closer to 6.5 Pistils are showing so the 8-9 week countdown starts now.

All the plants are well and truly in bloom. Many bud sites are getting plenty of light due to the multiple defoliations over the last couple weeks. Plants are soaking up the water every 2 days now in there 5 gallon pots. I got a sensorpush this weke and have been trying to keep the VPD dialed in. I have had the VPD last week at about 0.9 kPa Now that I am in the second week of flower I have adjusted the vpd to between 1.2 min and 1.5 max. Temperate is 78 during the day and 72-73 at night. I fed twice this week. Once with a compost tea of worm castings and Home produce scraps. I placed all that in a 80micron bag and placed 2 air stones inside then sunk the bag. I let this bubble for about 12 hours with a reservoir temp of 72. The plants all seemed to really love it. I have been looking into some of the Korean natural farming techniques and I will be trying a few of them on this grow. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_natural_farming

The plants have had a great week. I cleaned up under the canopy and re-arranged the scrog a bit for the last time. The plants are just now beginning to smell. The 1 Maui Clone has gone quite pale green so I added 1/4 cup of Bat guano to the top of the soil and worked it in. Then I added about 4 cups of worm castings on top before watering this week. I also started a FFJ juice mix using a recipe from Cho Korean Natural Farming. I started some Drosera from seed in January and they are now showing there first true leaves and carnivorous trichomes. I added photos of the bright red trichrome stalks. Other than that the plants are flowering well and the HLG light is sure a beast, I am really liking the super even coverage I am getting.

Lots of fattening up happening this week. The smell in the room is wonderful. I am battling Humidity a little bit but nothing major. Not much else to report. I used the FFJ I made which smelled exactly like a few bud enhancers I have bought before.

Lots of smell in the room now. I can see a little amber already through the microscope. All plants have a very nice piney / lemony scent. The growth pattern and pheno expression for maui has been very consistent for me. I spotted a thrip on one plant so I did a heavy defoliation to it. The plants only have 15 days left so I don't expect them to be able to establish well but I will keep checking daily.

Well its the last week and the grow has gone pretty good, I have some nice plants with some great buds, they smell nice and are fairly dense. However none of these phenos have the resin production or smell as strong as the pheno I already had so none of these will make the cut for my permanent Mom. I think that the soil ph being super low during the start did not help. I also used plastic pots instead of smart pots I am not sure if this mattered but Its one of the few variables between this grow and my last maui waui grow. The plants became calcium deficient at about 6 weeks, which I wasn't expecting as I feed with calcium regularly. I upped the dose for them the last couple weeks but the damage was done and slowed the plants down I think. I will harvest in the next few days.

I had a few problems happen during this grow that I think set me back. 1 - I had a poor soil mixture compared to my previous grows, I did not amend the soil as heavily as normal. 2- I used plastic pots which really do seem to inhibit root growth. 3- There was a major ph in balance in the soil early on and the plants required a good flushing. When they went into bloom they were nitrogen deficient almost immediately. 4- The plants were not getting enough calcium in the soil mix and even with my amendments to the nutrient mix they got a fairly bad calcium deficiency. 5- Thrips came in during the last couple weeks and started gnawing on my leaves. They weren't able to establish themselves but they were poised to. I still ended up with some nice buds that are ready for curing, that have a great smell and are fairly dense. I recommend Maui to anyone looking for a nice buzzy Sativa that is easy to grow and smells amazing and unique. All the phenos I haver seen have been fairly consistent. With the exception being terpene and resin levels seem to vary. All in all it was still a productive grow and I learned alot. The plants did just as well under the HLG 600 R spec led as they did under my 1000w hps which is awesome. I will update with cured bud pics when they are ready.
