A soil without organic matter will generally have a low Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC). Biochar is often prized for its potential to increase soil cation exchange capacity (CEC), but this effect is highly dependent on the specific properties of the biochar (feedstock and pyrolysis temperature) and the soil type to which it is applied. High-ash biochars, especially those produced at lower temperatures and applied to acidic or sandy soils, can significantly boost CEC by providing abundant binding sites for cations like calcium (Ca²⁺), magnesium (Mg²⁺), and potassium (K⁺). Biochar is more sustainable than typical organic matter for long-term soil improvement primarily due to its high stability and resistance to microbial decomposition, allowing it to persist in the soil for hundreds to thousands of years. This longevity provides a lasting positive effect on soil properties, particularly by increasing the cation exchange capacity (CEC) over time, while regular organic matter breaks down much faster. Biochar generally offers a much higher CEC than coco coir, though specific values vary greatly; while coco coir might sit around 40-60 cmol/kg, biochar can range from tens to over 200 cmol/kg, with sources like Acacia wood biochar or even coconut shell biochar often surpassing coco's capacity due to its porous structure, creating significantly more cation-binding sites for nutrients, making it superior for nutrient retention. Needs to be charged similar to coco but at a much higger rate. But shhhh.. It's a secret. Ancient biochar-rich soils in the Amazon basin (known as Terra Preta) provide evidence of carbon stability lasting over 500 to 2,000+ years. Recommend a balanced ratio of key cations, particularly calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), and potassium (K). A widely accepted general "ideal soil" cation saturation ratio is approximately 65-85% Ca, 6-12% Mg, and 2-5% K. That's roughly what I give mine. Can even add N in its NH4+ form

Day 106. Final stretch ! All jobs done ! I changed my mind about defoliation, was asked already by second person and will try to do my own RSO for them. Normally i would call it a mistake, needed to lolitop them 20 cm up more, my lights are too weak for 10 such big plants, but in oil production case - its a win ! You should use all plant for production, not only buds, so ill give it a go. Only water in reduced amounts is all my work left. Hope to push them two more weeks. So FLUSH FLUSH FLUSH !!! as much as you can hope in soil ... ;))) Happy Growing !

Woche 2 / Tag 9 Die Sativa Diven zeigen Zähne (und nasse Füße) Hallo zusammen 👋 Meine drei kleinen Diven stehen jetzt seit 9 Tagen unter der Crescience Fluxshield 450C (sweet spot bisher 210ppfd– läuft super smooth bisher). •The Real Amnesia (Growers Choice die echte holländische Clone-Lineage •Mimosa Gusher (Growers Choice 50/50 Hybrid, aber mit dem citrus mint Gusher-Vibe) •Strawberry AKeil (Serious Seeds die Frosty-Strawberry AK Queen, stark sativa lastig) Leider hab ich’s mit dem Gießen mal wieder etwas zu gut gemeint.😅 Was auch der fehlenden zeit geschuldet war, sonst gibts langere anlaufzeiten für's substrat. Besonders die Real Amnesia zeigt’s deutlich an den Keimblättern die sind jetzt schön braun angehaucht und hängen ein bisschen schlapp. Klassischer Overwatering Look, Wurzeln haben zu wenig Luft bekommen folge; → Wachstum deutlich gebremst die letzten Tage. Aber: Sie steht’s durch! Kein richtiger Crash, nur ein kleiner Denkzettel für mich. Die anderen beiden (Mimosa Gusher und Strawberry Akeil) haben es besser weg gesteckt, sehen immer noch fresh und grün aus. Aktuelle Bedingungen: Licht: Fluxshield (ca. 28–32 cm) pH: bei 6.0 Temperatur: 24 °C rel. Luftfeuchte: ~75 % Zusätzlicher ungebetener Gast: Trauermücken haben sich eingeschlichen. Aber denen vergeht bald das Lachen 👹habe direkt mit Neemöl gestartet und Nematoden (Steinernema feltiae) kommen die tage. Die Combo wird in 7–10 Tagen richtig aufräumen. Bis dahin Gelbtafeln + oberste Schicht etwas trockener halten. Fazit dieser Woche: Die Sativa-Dominas brauchen eindeutig etwas weniger Zuneigung beim Gießen als meine alten Indica-Hybriden 😄 Real Amnesia hat den größten Kratzer abbekommen, aber ich bin zuversichtlich, dass sie in den nächsten 2-3Tagen wieder richtig Gas gibt, sobald die Wurzeln wieder frei Atmen können. Die Mimosa Gusher und vor allem die Strawberry Akeil sehen super vital aus und machen schon richtig Bock auf die nächsten Wochen. Nächste ToDos: Weniger ist mehr 😅 Licht auf 300ppfd erhöhen. Harter ritt diese Dame , alles viel zu schwer das es gleich umknickte beim defolieren . Hab mal ein getrockneten Bud aus der mitte genommen und Trichom analyse (Videos und Bilder) gemacht . ja viel klar wenig milchig und einige rot . Ergo , zuviel Licht an der Spitze (abstand zum licht viel zu gering) und im Boden zu kalt ist keine gute Kombination .

Amazing!. The big plant smells so good Drying day 6: they are still moist! A very good drying session is going on over here. The longer the better! Trimmed today after 10 days. Ended up with 80grams pure buds! Super nice chunky buds smells amazing and 8grams of sift from the leaves. I’ll filter the leaves again with my bubble bags

Hello growers day 35 with the crystal candy and the red poison the lady’s are loving life at the moment nothing bad to report just been making sure there feed and that’s it all the plants have put a bit of stretch on but it’s all good I have bud sites every where I love it 3 of the red poison have proper red colour on them 1 of them is green as normal the 4 crystal candy’s are all sweet until next week be safe and happy growing ✌️

Today 7/30/19, day 57 and the start of week 9. I'm still continuing to alternate between days with my pesticide treatment (especially after finding that bug living on one of hulkberries fan leaf) and thrive alive green daily foliage spray as a prophylactic solution against any possible pests or mold going into these last few dog days of veg. I will flush them with distilled ph'd water for two days this weekend in preparation for flower. Then I'll start them on some "flower fuel" bloom booster on top of my secret for success flower recipe at 1/4 of the recommended strength. Outside of that still no adverse issue to report for the end of the 8th week. After my last trim, they both have responded very nicely, I was kind of worried about fat banana stalled growth. But one thing I noticed when I topped her at the 6th node, yes the main stem stopped growing but it developed many bud sites up and down every stem. Whereas hulkberry was topped at the 8th node, she has mainly focused on developing long stems and only 2 or 3 bud sites along her stems. Even though hulkberry in structure, is much bigger than fat banana and has a way bigger root system. Fat banana is bushier and has developed way more bud sites than hulkberry. I can't tell which strain will yield the most at this point only time will tell! Also, a big shout out to "J"@RQS, thank you for the excellent customer service. Another reason why Royal Queen Seeds is top 3 in breeding!!

@FAST_BUDS, Hi all the happy people here in GrowDiaries. This is my second cultivation ever and it will be fun to try a bigger space than my closet grow. First, I'm just going to say I'm done with the construction of my new growroom. I put some pictures on the construction here in week one. The room is 2.14 meters by 1.7 meters and has a ceiling height of 2 meters. It provides a floor area of ​​3.6 square meters. I use a 54 Watt Lightwawe T5 for germination and 2 Pcs 400 Watt HPS lamps. I have a channel fan that replaces the room air about 40 times an hour to get a comfortable environment in the room, the air enters a fresh air intake from the outside. The air is purified through a carbon filter to then leave the room to the rest of the basement. Then I use that heat to heat the rest of the basement. I will use 8 pcs 15 liter Autopots to grow with and a 100 liter water tank that supplies the pots of water and nutrition. I will grow completely organically in soil and will watercure my buds to get the best possible medicine for me. But there are no cultivation rooms to be displayed here, so I continue with what is most important. Today I have put my seeds in my moisture dome and hope the seeds have germinated within a few days. Holkám se daří dobře, vypadají zdravé a vitální, co se týče stretch,. tak vystrelili ze do 300% moc nechybi Guano odvádí spolecne s vodou dobrou práci a v jidelnicku mame kdyztak biobizz bloom ,jestli bude potřeba tak uvidíme. .jedna z holek ukázala lehce bile spicky listu ale nesiri se to, nemění to barvu tak mam zato ze jde o projev toho ze substrat je nabitéj a chce jenom vodu ..uvidime jak to pujde dal ... Today 24.3. finished 7th week of flowering (89 day) Final watering 4 liters of clean water 1 day, max 2, and I'll start harvesting

12/30 MONDAY 4am MB 4g & 0.8ml Purpinator. I tried Liquid KoolBloom, it's ok. 2pm Put the small Orion cola in a jar, not a big producer under my grow conditions but it smells and tastes just beautiful. LOTS of resin very sticky smokes just fine after hanging to dry for a couple days. 12/31 3am. 1pm took another cola from Orion about 1.5 wet so maybe half oz dry. Small grows are still the way to go for me. EVERYTHING is just so much easier, less messy. I get about the same amount from 1 gallon indoor soil grows than I did from HUGE 3 gallon fabric pots that I used Outdoor soil...infected shipped all over the country so every kind of bug.... I did NOT know to use airtight INDOOR specific soil or it will have BUGS & MITES...., like Root Mealy Bugs that will eat the roots as they grow...I didn't know that could happen!!!! 1/1 4am they are great 1/3 11 am Took the smallest cola from Cookie Apple & arranged the plants closer together. They fit like a puzzle as I take each cola & require a little less water. 1/4 2am

We are at 21 days from these girls breaking the surface and they are making progress. This little slurricane 7 had a rough start but looks like shes pulling through. I noticed at the beginning of the week that they were a little overdosed on nitrogen so I added 2 gallons of tap water to the reservoir and adjusted the ph to 6. They are still looking a little heavy on N but their growth rate is going great so I think it should balance out by the end of next week. I dont plan on doing a water change until I flower them. I left the plants alone most of the week. Tied most of them down to spread them out and defoliated a few lower leaves on day 20. The branches on most of these plants are thick and solid already. They don't budge easily. Bananasicle is looking pretty funky with uneven branch and node growth but we are just going to push forward. Still pumping nutrients and beaming light 24 hours a day. I'm thinking day 28 we will switch them to flower and see if any of these ladies can bring some❄️🔥💨

Day 50. Selective defoliation, constant spraying ( I said never in flower, but it goes well, so I will keep up for few more days ). All good, nothing special except missing space as always ;)))) Day 54. I repositioned them a bit, think too intense air was making both big Mimosas - a real sl@tty DIVAS ;)) Hope they will feel better aside. Happy Growing !!!
