New Update (Sep 2021) - No new pictures, a but soon...
Wow was I a total turd over the summer. Possibly this saved a lot of hardship, as it was a wet and humid summer, as always. May downsize a bit in summers and skip late summer harvest completely. These plants stayed in solo cups for 120 days after sprouting, and one was a few days less as it was a replacement for a failed or defective sprout, i didn't check notes, but possibly in notes if i was posting them in previous weeks.
I'll revive this when i hit week 2 of bloom phase in about a week. Due to height of new tents, i didn't get to give them much recovery time. PG got a few days, GS got a week before flip. Took cuttings of the plants with better structure. These won't look as healthy and pretty as my normal plants hitting bloom, but they are growing vigorously since transplant. I may need to thin the PG canopies out before 14 flower-nights as they are going F'ing nuts. The stubborn GS branched out over 120days otherwise they'd be LST'd instead of topped. Very much a sativa-like physical structure and behaviour. Resistant to side branching, but if you let them get rootbound in a cup for 4 months, it happens.
Things to come...
Will get 3 breeding sessions in this winter. Two of three sessions will involve mature clones which avoids large portion of vege, if any needed. Picked up some 500ppm nanoparticle colloidal silver. Should have a pimpy F5 male plant selected from a handful by third breeding session, which will include more hybrids than the first two. B1 - GSxGS(s), maybe the PG winner, too. Second round will be BB Muffin x BB Muffin plants and maybe cross with gs/pg. Third session will be the best male Blackcherry Pie F5 i find in some reg seeds pollinating another F5 female, and all mature clones waiting around for last session. ("Slurricane #7", "The D", maybe some other strains.)
All i hope to accomplish is some consistent results with GSxGS (fems), bbmuffin x bbmuffin (fems) and the F5 male x F5 fem (regs). The hybrids along way are just for shits and grins and more so with the true male plant as 1 parent. The same strain x same strain is in hopes of retaining existing traits. I'll make some fem seeds in future of the reg seeds made this winter. Too many generations of all "XX" x "XX" can't be a positive effect over time. This will let me reset the clock on that retardation a bit, i hope, like a dog breeder skipping a generation of inbreeding to reduce retarded dogs produced over time.
No 1000s of plants along with observations of physical traits to make punnet squares... Nothing special or professional, but intend to have fun with it. I hope someone is taking that sort of sophisticated view... rubbing a stem and randomly mixing stuff is below what we are capable of with the generational knowledge that we have. You can work out number of alleles from large samples of plants through inductive reasoning and a little error-correction for the imperfect process. We can know for a fact how many seeds from 2 known parents will look like "this" or "that" with a little work and some math. That will not be done here, LOL. That's the real future once someone puts in the work.
Winter is going to be fun. I'll likely do diaries of the breeding sessions.. first time I've attempted to herm a plant. So, if you like nascar, this may be right up your alley if i crash and burn. This current diary will have a proper finish. You can see results of GS and PG in previous diaries.. the PG is quite resistant to micribial problems, as learned from 120D in solo cups. GS does not fight off wpm very well, but 5x better smoke, imo, so gonna keep up on defoliation and h2o2 sprays deep into bloom. If no pistils yet, may do one more dose of copper-fungicide soap spray.

--Thought this was interesting read.. slightly different info than what you read in forums and such. It is not complete, obviously, but points in good direction. This guy did 100ppm over 5 days (along with other less-effective dosing over same period of time) and had good results. Most places say 20-50ppm and do it for 3weeks or intil you see nanners etc etc... but, what we see with our eyes is possibly not necessary here... the 'change' happens long before we can see it. I'm going to look for a few more research papers and go from there.

Well, i haven't done shit. Little update, nonetheless.
Since i used the Viparspectra XS1500 so extensively early on in this grow, i added it to the diary. This was only supposed to be a 2-3 week period for seedlings. It has done an excellent job vege'ing these plants. Their lack of size is due to being in solo cups for 6 weeks, BWAHAHA. Ooops. Needless to say, despite looking good, they are rootbound and very unhappy with me. The 2 mother plants have been in their respective solo cups even longer.
I've topped all the plants since the last update. 6-8 colas on each. I spaced out and did the first Garclic Strom improperly with only 6. This will not allow for many pre-flower cuttings in my faux pheno hunt of a tiny sample of plants. Hopefully i can take two from all the others to be safe... and I can take an extra in flower from the one i topped with 2 fewer branches off meristem.
The garlic storm will go into the 4x4 with the 3500k 650w led light soon. Probably get another week or two of vege to fill in the extra space. They need more height. I've grown them before and they are leggy girls with dense AF golfball nugs all the way down. They will need the taller tent as it is easier to control girth than a plant's natural height given environment it is grown in.
The platinum gelato will go into the 3x3 with the likely better-for-flower 3000k DIY lights, and is already in danger of overfilling. I may take a node or 2 of height off to control this. This too will require a period of healing before flipping to 12-12 bloom schedule.
While not an excuse, i have kept my basement at 50% RH for a couple weeks now. Hopefully, the ongoing WPM issues that crop up. Think i need to simply foliar spray with h2o2 as a preventative measure. Start with 1/week and adjust based on observations. Twice a week might be safer. After breeding seeds, i'm looking forward to a boring, repeated process that takes little thought.
Side note, the circulators i have for the floraflex round matrix might work really well for solo cups... can eaily automate irrigation and drain of seedling portion of life cycle too. Need to get some of those push to connect couplers, methinks. Being able to pop those off easily and move things around / replace with larger pots etc etc... would be convenient.
@@NobodysBuds, maybe you want to update mines after such draft ? ;))) No itchy fingers to sort out idiot with too many diaries ? ;))))
You'll love it !!! I have my own mini Auschwitz, just no gas chamber like at yours ;))) but I keep them ready and overcrowded ;))))
Never had i any fluffy with my 3000K, but got it in last run, looked more like outdoors ... High temps and size of plant was only differences ... will run cooler them, 27-30 was sh$t for me, 25-27 always worked fine, but in veg higher temps did magic ..
@@NobodysBuds, i have 3 old 3000k lm301b , 3k k and new lm301h with far reds, its i DIY, but manufacturer written on everything and i see bin, kelvins, diod type and etc written. From all my grow buys, those were the best investment ;)))
Still update air, pots, nutes , etc ... but lights work for 2.5 years and can't see any issue with them, if they will run 5 years, i will be over my preplanned duration.
Only because they run so nice i refused couple free lights offered here.
Hope your buy will be at least 2x better ! ;)
