June 4th - great way to start this week, I get to grow a plant that was destined for a friend. As life happens, I had started preparing this now famous strain, for something completely new to myself. A manifold approach was needed to keep a plant smallish and lower to the ground for Friend X. In the end, Ms. Jack Herer has been taken outside and planted in my yard. All is good So, lets start with A great big fuck you to all the punks that rip people off. Like last years efforts.... I put a 6’ cage around 3 plants last year and somebody still went over it. I guess “I’m” only doing 1 plant outdoors this season, but it’ll have a lid this year. Maybe electricity, with a bear-trap thrown in for good measure ! *** FYI and the Ontario Police have confirmed this for me, that “Electricity” is a valid defense for your crops, even in the City... as long as its “pet-friendly” lol and I’ve got a t-rex Think that little “Cattle wire” surrounding a farmers fence & herd - I also posted a photo that helped change my mind about multi-toppings; full kudos to nugbuckets... topping a plant 3 times, can be taken down to 2 and still produce 8 Colas. After the first, or main topping has been done, let each side grow past that 1st node that will appear. That 1st node that develops is a natural highway and nothing needs to be done. Then you Top the left and right sides when it has extended safely beyond these 2 side nodes/bud sites. (L & R) Just makes too much sense so I thought i’d share it. If theres an opinion, feel free to share it 2tops~PoofBadaBing =8Colas ... next time June 5th - applied a little LST and secured the 8 growing branches, to the base of the tomato cage. All is good. - feeding program has started of course. Will get that stuff organized and updated. June 6 - just looking at 24 hrs of reaction to the LST, and the plant is so solid, and has grown considerably. This location is blocked from the Sun till around 12 or just after Noon, and its like it is on the 12 hour schedule from the get-go. Then its has full-sun until dark. Last year the Durban Poison Flowered in mid June. Kind of curious if this will respond in the same way in the coming weeks. - Kelp Meal was scratched into the surface and will be a Monthly addition. I basically applied 3 tablespoons for the initial treatment if the Soil, and will double it in a months time. Growing this outdoors, dosage can be a little more generous bcuz its not a closed system. Kelp Meal Details posted in the pictures. Nothing that grows is impacted in a negative way when kelp meal is used. - made the introduction of Ocean Magic & GPH to the food stream. 2 litres (water+nutes) were used yesterday to welcome it outside - now that its outside im going to try targeting a twice/week feeding schedule. We will see how Mother Nature allows me to do that - removed all fan leaves from the middle area of the plant. left the bud sites alone. grow-on June 10th - a week later and this plant is off and running. 4 days since it was watered, and the moisture meter still says moist... we’ll just leave it alone - OK, I just said I’m going to leave it alone, and I have topped 7 of the 8 Colas to finish this first week in the ground. I am attaching a photo and you can see all 7 sites. The 8th one had morphed a bit and the node sites were not parallel any longer... so I left it alone

Grow Questions

I began working towards a 16 cola plant, topping as required and made a beautiful plant. As it has been moved outside and allowed to expand outwards and now upwards, “Are the new shoots in the Middle, stealing NRG from the Colas?”

Well they are and they are not. With a wide canopy like yours, it is going to fill out the middle. Just select tiny branches from the underside for pruning if you really want them out. But since you are growing outdoor, and doing fine with it, I would leave them to grow fuller and when close to flowering, make a final selection based on sundirection (so branches to the north). I ve had good results outdoor, by pushing the plant 45 degrees towards north, which creates a canopy like bush facing south, your setup is ideal when growlights are directly above. You will still have great results, I think the middle ranches will give you more than the branches towards north! Good luck and hope for a warm summer!

Root growth and root ball development are critical parts of any Grow ! Understood But WHEN do we taper or remove it from the routine? Heading into the last weeks of flower each time I find myself asking about it… So hear goes….. When do we stop adding root boosters?

You give it the entire grow, then stop for ripening and flush. So you could stop anywhere from 4-2 weeks before harvest. Really it's up to you.

@1Right_Angle, you to. I hope it works for you well. If not then I am stumped. It is a experiment that does not have any negative effects. Maybe a bit more messy. Good luck my friend 👍

@1Right_Angle, just make sure buds are not bunched when hanging. I do harvest videos on my diaries. Also on my YouTube. Can see exactly how I go about it if your curious. It is worth a try. But I never have a problem with a good smell.

@deFharo, i agree 100%. Its the first time I had a real application for it. Its a sturdy one and it can be “shaped” or even made oblong, to fit the Hubs shape… Have fun with that. Thanks Man

@blendmedmedman, this has been an interesting grow; 1st Topping. Congo & Natural Mystic are getting topped into similar positions

I am sorry to hear that, mate ;( Your misfortune only confirms what I was thinking about recently, which is about buying a Doberman pinscher puppy. One thing is the most faithful friend in life, two this breed is very alerted by nature and I already have some experience with pinschers. They leave no compromise for someone who wants to endanger your safety, your family safety and safety of your property. They are very intelligent dogs and the mere knowledge that you have such a friend will scare off amateurs of someone else's property. If not then they will be very surprised in the process... 👊💪😎
1Right_Angle
1Right_Anglecommented3 years ago
@CrazyHorse, i wish I could, and again I should not have to. At my end its a corner lot with quite a bit of visibility, plain and simple. Moves have been made, other bush’s blocking sight-lines… and fence is out. I’m chocking this one up to stupid teenagers who don’t know whats hapnin. Complete waste. Fence around the Plant… was in progress!! Thanks for a sure-fire remedy
