Initially this project was seeded for a Friend, who in the end, already had his hands full. So, I am now in control of a Feminized Jack Herer, that has now been Topped (3x) and main-lined, to produce 8 main Colas. And it looks so healthy. This plant was just put in the ground two days ago; June 2nd, and today I installed the Tomato cage and have tied Octo-Jack down, once again. The plan is to have it grow these 8 main-branches out and around the outside of the cage. All looks good. This Diary is opening as an afterthought, as I did not see myself raising Jack H. And now I’m, how do you say “Jacked about it” I have included a photo from today; June 5th, and promise to fill in the Blanks. Even though I was giving the plant away, I still took pics of the topping efforts and the resulting growth. It has been stressed 3x and is now free to run wild, looks pretty damn healthy. FYI: Some doofus stole my outside plants last summer, so I’m going to give Society another chance!

May 28 - June 3rd - Moved Jack outside and got her established. I’ll wait a few days to re-attach the limbs. Planning this grow, an old tomato cage may hust fit the bill to help shape the plant around it.

June 4th - great way to start this week, I get to grow a plant that was destined for a friend. As life happens, I had started preparing this now famous strain, for something completely new to myself. A manifold approach was needed to keep a plant smallish and lower to the ground for Friend X. In the end, Ms. Jack Herer has been taken outside and planted in my yard. All is good So, lets start with A great big fuck you to all the punks that rip people off. Like last years efforts.... I put a 6’ cage around 3 plants last year and somebody still went over it. I guess “I’m” only doing 1 plant outdoors this season, but it’ll have a lid this year. Maybe electricity, with a bear-trap thrown in for good measure ! *** FYI and the Ontario Police have confirmed this for me, that “Electricity” is a valid defense for your crops, even in the City... as long as its “pet-friendly” lol and I’ve got a t-rex Think that little “Cattle wire” surrounding a farmers fence & herd - I also posted a photo that helped change my mind about multi-toppings; full kudos to nugbuckets... topping a plant 3 times, can be taken down to 2 and still produce 8 Colas. After the first, or main topping has been done, let each side grow past that 1st node that will appear. That 1st node that develops is a natural highway and nothing needs to be done. Then you Top the left and right sides when it has extended safely beyond these 2 side nodes/bud sites. (L & R) Just makes too much sense so I thought i’d share it. If theres an opinion, feel free to share it 2tops~PoofBadaBing =8Colas ... next time June 5th - applied a little LST and secured the 8 growing branches, to the base of the tomato cage. All is good. - feeding program has started of course. Will get that stuff organized and updated. June 6 - just looking at 24 hrs of reaction to the LST, and the plant is so solid, and has grown considerably. This location is blocked from the Sun till around 12 or just after Noon, and its like it is on the 12 hour schedule from the get-go. Then its has full-sun until dark. Last year the Durban Poison Flowered in mid June. Kind of curious if this will respond in the same way in the coming weeks. - Kelp Meal was scratched into the surface and will be a Monthly addition. I basically applied 3 tablespoons for the initial treatment if the Soil, and will double it in a months time. Growing this outdoors, dosage can be a little more generous bcuz its not a closed system. Kelp Meal Details posted in the pictures. Nothing that grows is impacted in a negative way when kelp meal is used. - made the introduction of Ocean Magic & GPH to the food stream. 2 litres (water+nutes) were used yesterday to welcome it outside - now that its outside im going to try targeting a twice/week feeding schedule. We will see how Mother Nature allows me to do that - removed all fan leaves from the middle area of the plant. left the bud sites alone. grow-on June 10th - a week later and this plant is off and running. 4 days since it was watered, and the moisture meter still says moist... we’ll just leave it alone - OK, I just said I’m going to leave it alone, and I have topped 7 of the 8 Colas to finish this first week in the ground. I am attaching a photo and you can see all 7 sites. The 8th one had morphed a bit and the node sites were not parallel any longer... so I left it alone

June 11th, - finds me with 7 of 8 freshly topped Colas and a realization that some of the Colas will be routed, up the middle of the tomato cage. Early planning and a realization that its gonna get Messy, before it gets Awesome. I did Not Top the one branch at 3:00, because the bud-sites has actually started to become staggered at the end... not parallel to each other, so I left it. (pictured above) - growing outdoors, I’m using a Moisture meter to help me identify watering needs / patterns early in this grow. I just “faithfully” went out to water, and luckily used the Meter. It was still “WET”. Patience rocks. I’m in a clay base, so I did dig a significant hole for Jack; some gravel in the bottom, 4” peat moss, then a mix of pro-mix w/perlite, Soil, coco coir and black earth. - had been using a Foliar spray on the seedlings in the Tent, and have begun using it again on this Jack Herer. Fulvic Acid and Transport, mixed equally, are sprayed on the plants leaves; above and below, before any strong Sunlight hits them, or at the end of the day, every other day. While working with Fulvic Acid, I am also using GPH, from Green Planet, to access the bounty of Humic Acid benefits. Both Humic & Fulvic Acids are proving to benefit each other and are the Key elements in Root efficiencies. I have definitely begun leaning towards the science community, for positive results. And of course, trying things out. 12th - 4 complete topping events to date, and the plant structure is taking-on a beautiful shape. Now its “hands-off” for a week. Lol great mid-day pic shows a nice circular ring, with a few select bud-sites in the middle, kicking-in. Yeah, no touch... lol 13th, each of the freshly topped sites has new bud-site activity and they have all turned the corner, literally and are looking upwards… hands-off d 14th, - posted a pic that shows how decisively the plants branches have turned upwards. No help from me, except in getting them out to the edge of the Circle… - nice long soft rain was perfect. Will give a small feeding over the day. It has been a week since last feed re: hi moisture. - added a cup of fish-poop liquid, as per a local compost & tea-based nutrient source grower. It was murky and nope, i did not get any on me .

June 18th - the middle of the plant was stripped of fan leaves and only 1 bud-site per node was kept active at the hub. These are now going vertical. Which is awesome. - big rain in the forecast, some phish poop (1 cup liquid mix) added to Jacks base June 19th - its been over a week since Jack has had Green Planet nutes. Will sneak a nutrient feeding-in very soon. June 21st - asked the question about whether or not I should be allowing the growth in the middle of the Hub. Not every bud-site has been removed in the middle of the plant. And the ones I have left (1 per cola branch in the middle) are out-growing the main Colas slightly. It all lloks healthy and balanced… but i dont want to mess-up the growth June 23rd - plant is really healthy and is throwing up select branches, one from each Cola, in the middle of the Hub. - fed a green planet Gallon today. Mixture is above. - feedings are being left to the soil/Rain, a weekly cup of liquid water/fish poop and if it seems dry nuf, like today, I threw a gallon of Food at it. Ingredient levels are increasing. - Plants status will dictate how and when it gets fed. - still misting a Foliar spray every 3 or 4 days, when the heat of the day is done and over. Near the end of light. Top & bottom of leaves June 24th - Kelp Meal scratched into the surface. Outdoors, i’ve moved the volume up to 3 table-spoons sprinkled across & into the soil. … Lightly moistened, let it do its thing for a month. - all the significant new growth is showing that this Topping/Manifold experiment is going to produce a serious structure. All the 16+ original Colas are having no problem going external and upwards now. Picking off any stray growth or new growth in the bare places. Gonna let it fill-out until Flower now. Then it’s decision time week 2 or 3. (thx biobuds)

I began working towards a 16 cola plant, topping as required and made a beautiful plant. As it has been moved outside and allowed to expand outwards and now upwards, “Are the new shoots in the Middle, stealing NRG from the Colas?”

Well they are and they are not. With a wide canopy like yours, it is going to fill out the middle. Just select tiny branches from the underside for pruning if you really want them out. But since you are growing outdoor, and doing fine with it, I would leave them to grow fuller and when close to flowering, make a final selection based on sundirection (so branches to the north). I ve had good results outdoor, by pushing the plant 45 degrees towards north, which creates a canopy like bush facing south, your setup is ideal when growlights are directly above. You will still have great results, I think the middle ranches will give you more than the branches towards north! Good luck and hope for a warm summer!

June 25th - morning rain is sending that kelp meal into battle. - plant is progressing nicely with good solid growth Everywhere 27th, day after a huge rain system moved through, all looks well with some serious growth happening and a smell is starting to lift from the plant now. 28th - overnite downpour ruled out any watering needs this week ! - solid visible Vertical growth and a real change in the outward appararance. Its becoming an actual Bush. - more Rain called for tonight & in the morn 29th, tied one of the main branches off to the cage and have wrapped it around a post to take-up some of the long branch. Its got unlimited space to grow, but it simply looked like it was “taking-off” compared to the rest of the topped branches. This is the one of eight, I did not top. ( it was not topped when the others were because this was the only branch where the bud-sites on either side if the branch had become seperated and staggered at this particular Node and were not beside each other. This branch had already established these , so i left it alone. This is the now-wrapped branch. Only one ) - Foliar spray applied in the shade, hours b4 sunlight & heat - plant hit 16” today - removed 6 big Fan leaves to allow more light 30th - how do you say… rain all nite, and today… more rain! July 1st, - nothing but growth, thinned a few leaves and Damn, there is a whole bunch of beautiful branches growing from this Jack Herer bush. -last day of this 10th week, huge amount of rain, and another 2” of growth since 29th; now @ 18”

July 2nd - well, the first thing I must comment on, is how well this Topping/Manifold action has kept the Height of the Plant LOW. Having had my crop stolen last Summer, this was the #1 condition I gave myself… keep it low. And its working ! Week 11 starts and the plant is only 18” tall and healthy as &#€k. - there has been a lot of Rain with more on the forecast. Task ahead is to slide a cup of Phish Poop into the soil before the weekend is gone. When it does dry out a bit, there will be a gallon of Nutes (green-planet) ready to apply. (menu above in use this week if possible) - now that we are past the Solstice… and heading towards shorter daze, I will add the 1st dose of Rezin, and will keep it low for the next couple of feeds ~ 14 days - weeks-end will see me clean-up the leaf growth, inside and low within the canopy. Sucker leaves and lite blockers will be gone. Pretty clean canopy as it stands - ha, wish I had a few more going here at home… even with all of the growth going on at friends homes and all around me, I cannot wait to put Septembers Crop into shot-glass of water… ( Congo from Ace, Black Willie from Reeferman & You got it… a bigger Ganga plant from Jamaica, Natural Mystic. All Indoors w/ 3 plants in 4x4 guess i’m ready, lol looking to stuff the tent this time ) July 3rd, - found a great pic from one month ago, the day Jack went in the ground. - I kind of Lollipoped Jack today. Trusting what I’ve picked up from others, and I made a good move for the plant today. Ballsy even - feeding time; slowly over the day both G.P. nutes and a cup of Phish Poop were fed to Jack - first low level application of Rezin. Next meal posted above, will have a Tbsp/gal of Molasses for the soil. -still doing Foliar spray (fulvic acid / transport) applications after sunset every 3-days July 6th, - with more bad weather now being downgraded, I’m feeding Jack as posted above. - today it does look like a solid airy Bush is being produced. I will use wooden stakes as it progresses, to give Jack breathing room. Thats down the road, but its happening - with a hot start to the day, I slid 2 gallons of food/water into her roots before Noon lol - branch growth allowed me to slide the phone in for a couple of cool shots - broke my promise, I removed any fan leaf that did not belong and anything at first nodes. Cleanest yet, I’d have say its been lollipopped. - there will be 4 small clones taken from the plant shortly. down to the nitty-gritty, ahead of, yep, a transition into Flower Clone candidates are in the back, along the fence, that runs North/South and blocks the Sun till Noon. - nutritional values increased, NEXT meal posted above

July 9th - fish poop applied for breakfast - with all the rain, i applied Kelp Meal to the surface area - fed 2 gallons of Nutes/water -Weather can do what it wants now June 10th, - looking at the leaf formations on the end of the Branches, and I’m sure there will be Pistiles showing in about a week. The bud sites are starting to take shape and cluster. I’ll grab some shots in 4 days and see where its going - foliar spray for breakfast, thats a good feeding in the last 24 hrs - next meal posted above - 2 weeks past the Solstice, the plants will start moving into Flower very shortly, if not already. Days are Shorter, lets grow some Buds July 11th, - another whole day of Rain, so 1-2” (~ 1.5 gal) of Compost was added to the entire Soil surface. A first for me, thats for sure… all in the name of the science in the soil - before adding compost, I stood on the tomato cage, to fully re-sink it into the ground; top rim is 29” legit July 13th - foliar spray in the late afternoon - plant is becoming a Bush - yep, in a moment of weakness lol, I took a few leaves off, clones were gone, had to make it right… call it LST - you can see the branches are making use of the Cage, for support of the lower Topped branches.

July 16th - Fed the plant 2 gallons over the Morning. (see last weeks menu, rain prevented its use) Next meal posted above - real growth on this sucker as it fills out nicely. Well, only the ends of the branchs really. But its hapnin - 2 days without Rain, it was Time to feed this guy before the next storm rolls in. Getting slammed with rain here in Southern Ontario. Moisture meter was at least on-scale and Left of middle = GO 17th - plant looks great as we head towards Flower. One more regular feed, around mid-week, with close to maximum Veg food. Then I’m going to introduce a little Bloom Nutrient into the mix next week. Feed the transition so to speak. ( I’m also talking a 25% bloom dose to start, in the reg veg mix ) All the action, Its right around the corner - Foliar spray tonight July 20th, - the weather is going to let me feed Jack this morning. Her last 100% meal of Veg Nutes. ***That was my plan till I saw all the activity on the ends of my branches. I have added a small taste of Bloom nutes to this meal today! - 3 gallons over a 4 hour period and the goal is to let Jack dry out after this feed ~ 4-5 days would be ideal. - Might even be seen as a little nutrient Push… 22nd - finishing the week strong with a couple days of Sunshine. Go figure

23rd of July - Attempting to let the soil get “dry”. See what Mother N has to say about that. Day 3 w/no rain ! The Soil is still very moist - Last fed on the 20th - Foliar Spray in the a.m. just to tease - boy does the audio sound bad on the phones Video !! Kinda historic, sorryboutthat 24th, - added some Epsom Salts to todays feed, magnesium and sulfate for the Soil. GOOD READING AVAILABLE... - went ahead and fed on day 5, iffy weather all around. GO - only 2 gallons used 25th, - killer day finally after more rain lst nite - re-positioned two questionable side-branches, down low and in front. Whole plant is open. Not a leaf to remove. Anybody thats done this style of grow, let me know if theres a hole in the program. *** smoked some of the Beaver Seeds; Maui Wowie Autoflower that I recently grew, you know, while tending the plant today… well laugh at the fact that the 15% thc of the famous dope truly kicks Butt; seriously good weed - “next” Meal posted above, beginning the transition to bloom nutrients ! - activity at the Bud-sites is picking-up 26th, - amended the plant base w/ 2 cups of liquid phish-poop lol - next proper meal posted above ~eta 30th or 31st - anxious to get the Bloom nutes in & running 29th - big, long, burp, after sliding 3 gallons of “transition-food” into Jack - Meal is posted above with no Molasses today; TDS 1400ppm - started a MONTHLY inclusion of dissolved Epsom Salts. I will be including it in Foliar applications as well, w/ Fulvic Acid.

July 30, - Last week of Veg from the look of the plant, its heading into flower - plant has had its 1st meal w/ Veg nutes reduced, 2nd meal w/ Bloom nutes introduced. - Next meal posted above. 31st, - branch-bending and some fresh compost on the plant base. (= tv dinner for a couple weeks) Aug 1 - started the day with some LST and the top of this plant is now pretty darn wide and level. Yesterdays bending was well timed. After only 2 LST sessions on the Canopy, its a different more receptive plant heading into Flower - last transition meal fed; 3 gallons. Next meal, its bloom nutes from here on out Aug 2nd - when gentle-bending becomes kinky… the plant looked great after the LST. This morning I saw a great opportunity and it involved More aggressive tactics and saw some more aggressive kinking & super-cropping. - plant had a nice “South-facing” slope. Aug 3 - woke up to a beautiful plant, with a legitimate level canopy. Bring on the Blossoms, Jack is down to 38” again Got rid of the last Sucker in the grow. No touch now lol, what you see is what you get Aug 4 - next meal posted above… - clipped the lower suckers on ea Cola branch to help keep the business on the end

You give it the entire grow, then stop for ripening and flush. So you could stop anywhere from 4-2 weeks before harvest. Really it's up to you.

Aug 6th - Jack gets fed today; 3 gallons first meal w/all bloom nutes. Aug 7th - Whats happened is I have taken 2 of the smaller Colas from the back of the plant, and brought them Forward and out the front, low. They are official branches but they were really limited in that location. So down in front they, or it may even look a little lollipopped - Foliar feed tonight @ sundown - Kelp Meal worked into the Compost at the surface - Pistils are present on all branches, its Flower 🌸 time Aug 8 - 4 branches took off the last couple days, and they were levelled for the last time Aug 9 - plant looks great today, pic attached - Foliar spray tomorrow if possible. Then only 2 more next week finishes the fulvic acid / epsom salt addition through the leaves before proper flowering begins week 3 - next meal posted above; w/ Molasses (tomorrow) BUT, rain is forecast for the next 2 days, so the meal can wait. I have put some fresh compost on the base of the plant… 10th - massaging a few of the branches, and what a smell of Lemon - evening, heading right into Flower, I defoliated lower Nodes up to 29” and any obvious shadow makers - super-cropped a couple smaller branches at the half-way mark on the cage. Front & Center. Now they will participate 11th - looks strong - last 2 cups of liquid phish poop added to the compost 12th - solid rain overnite, more predicted. Looking at Sun/Mon feeding (15th/16th) - last Foliar Spray this morning b4 the heat or rain kicks in… and b4 too far into flower. Foliar spray is now done.

Aug 13th - super morning, Jack gets Fed ahead of the weatherman - 4 branches hit 48” - Today’s menu features 3 gallons of water/nutes. Aug 14 - LST to manage height - plant is 50”… HST for a few bad actors Aug 16th - weather allows another feeding; 14L, for a plant that seems to be picking up the hunger pang. $8 Moisture meter says go!, I go. - Fed as above. 17th - with Jack hungry and a definite rain storm approaching… I fed jack regardless and then covered his dirty parts with a big Garbage bag. Six hours later and halfway through the storm, I removed the bag. Is there a right or wrong way to handle that situation? I’m thinking its Very Right
