According to the information on the Dinafem website, this plant should take between 70-80 days and they were 100% correct. They were also accurate on how much it would yield per plant as well. Mark at Dinafem was extremely helpful and supportive throughout the entire process. He saved them from flowering too early by commenting on the photos. They were staying in a 8oz solo cup under a 150-watt light for longer than necessary, and he informed me to move them outside and into a bigger pot which is exactly what I did. They immediately shot up and thrived, whereas my friend (who is growing the exact same strain) kept them inside within a solo cup -- his flowered 2 weeks earlier than mine and had a significantly lower yield. Big shoutout to Mark and the Grow Diary platform because otherwise my yield would be a fraction of what it is now.

Reviews. Nutrient
Absolutely loved this nutrient. I don't have much to compare it too since this is my first time growing, but it was available at an extremely affordable price relative to others, and you don't have to waste money on a pH stick or pH up/down because it's pH perfect every single time. Only complaint I can think of is that neck of the bottle is short and wide so if you're pouring into a measuring cup and not being not being extremely careful it spills everywhere and leaks down the side. Other than that, it's phenomenal and I will definitely be purchasing this again.

For my first time growing I would say it was a success. It would have been a catastrophic failure without the GrowDiaries platform. The help and support from the community guided this project from start to finish and I'm super thankful for that. I've encouraged all of my friends and neighbours that grow to sign up and they are loving it as well. With regards to the strain, I can't say a whole lot because I don't have much to compare it to since this is my first time. However, there was a fair amount of bud rot and I can't say for certain if that's due to genetics, weather, or my own mistakes, but I'm leaning towards the latter. I cut off an ounce of bud that had mold and rot on it. It rained heavily towards the end and the buds are extremely dense and I think that made it difficult for the moisture to escape.00

Grow Questions

Kookystarted grow question 7 years ago
How wet should my soil be at this stage? The seedlings are just beginning to crack through the top, but this is mostly because I didn't cover them up too much when I changed them from the Peat Pellets to the solo cup. Soil is Pro-Mix HP. And what PH should my water be at?

At this stage, just focus on the basics as she will grow regardless with good light, water and light air ventilation. Make sure your night temperatures don't drop too low as it can stunt or even kill your plant so early on. Try keeping your night temp above 18 Degrees C. Secondly, don't over water.. a bit a time is better than too much all at once if you're not sure. As you can add but can't take away. Overwatering is another problem that will stunt your plants growth. So less is more. No nutrients is needed at all at this stage, just water pH'd to around 6.5 as its what I use, and proven to be best range in soil. That soil mix has enough in it to last you 3-4 weeks, so no nutrients is needed. Check out my diaries if you need any guidance or happy to help via message. Lastly, higher humidity at around 50-65% will help her growth through the seedling and veg stage. If you're out doors anything that can give you a greenhouse effect will help. Not only with humidity but raising the temperatures! Hope this helps

Does anyone know what that thing is that is growing out of the node in the last picture? The picture doesn't really do it much justice, but I'm thinking it's either the start of a seed, or it's beginning to bud. I should mention that there are 0 white hairs anywhere on the plant.

Hi there! Looks like a male sex / banana :-( I'd recommend to wait a couple of days to ensure it's a male (or hermie), then it's up to you: throw away, or produce seeds. Good luck with this one!

Hey - noticed your your gonna top this and if this is ur first time you might want to skip the topping and just stick with lst. Only reason I say so is its an auto and it will only have 3-5 weeks before the Ruderalis gene kicks in and she starts to flower. U can still top an auto but there is risk of plant stress and divergent opinion amongst growers. The odour issue - is that plastic wrap baking in the heat of the light? And r u supposed to use plastic wrap with the pellets??? Just seems like it would choke off airflow to the seeds?.?.? As far as the humidity is concerned more than less is usually better for seedlings (70%ish) - what’s your gauge reading right now? Following this one too given that we’re dealing with similar grow conditions - the strain choice is “dope” too, good luck 😉👊

@Kooky, cheers dude - in retrospect there’s so much I could’ve done to get some higher yields but that’s the fun of learning this. that’s exactly what I’d do for topping 5 autos too - just for the sake of experimentation 👍. I have no experience with peat pellets so not really sure what’s best for em. I just use seedling containers after germ. Would say success rates about 75-85% when started indoors and under the right conditions.

@Ontario, agree with the other guys too man. Too much water and lay off the nutes for now and she’ll be fine. my own opinion right now would be to stick with some light stress training on this one and get a sense for how the plant grows while being manipulated. You’ll be surprised how much an auto still yields with lst alone. If only as a confidence grow for the next one. I’d just hate you to lose another 3 weeks (if Youve only got one going) and overstress/stunt it. If you do decide to top it I would wait and pull the 5th node/set nothing less. It’s already stressed with overwatering so you gotta give it some time to regain strength. Even then it still might be an issue dude. Whatever you decide I’m watching close for sure - good luck 👍

@Ontario, Tough decision! Experiment with both options and see which one works best.

I used the jiffy peat starters like you are using. The netting I cut away before I transplanted them. The netting is plastic and will not dissolve into the soil. Other than that they have worked for me on every bean. I also skip the paper towel method and germ in the Jiffy peat alone. So far no problems doing it that way. Then again I am also new to this....But it sure is fun learning!
Kooky
Kookycommented7 years ago
@Newbie_Grower, Okay so I compared two seeds that I started in Peat Pellets to two seeds that I started in actual growing soil inside red solo cups. All the seeds had long taproots, and the two that started in the solo cups cracked the surface 3x as fast as the ones in the Peat Pellets. This was my first time using them but I think for now on I'm just going to use solo cups and my normal soil. The main benefit of the Peat Pellets are how easy they are to transplant.
Newbie_Grower
Newbie_Growercommented7 years ago
@Kooky, I didn't notice any odor from the peat pellets at all. (I had to go and check just now). This will be the second time I have used them to germ. Might be the plastic you are smelling. I also germinated mine in the dark on a heating pad in the jiffy container. Once they broke through I cut the webbing and transplanted the whole pellet. Just watered until the end of week 3 then i added light nutes.
Kooky
Kookycommented7 years ago
@Newbie_Grower, That's exactly what I was thinking about doing before transplanting them! I've heard they don't dissolve. Also, do you notice a smell with them at all? I can't figure out if it's the plastic wrap I have on the top getting heated from the lamp or if it's the peat pellet itself.

Dude, this one is fun to watch. I don’t have the space to grow five plants of the same strain and it’s cool to see how much the growth rate varies, even early on. Hopefully the weather will get better cause it’s been crazy lately and hasn’t helped my grows either. Good luck!
TheBudWhisperer
TheBudWhisperercommented7 years ago
@Kooky, yeah hear that dude. Lookn at a critical Kush myself on next grow. Still haven’t tried a crit. Strain. Having trouble not adding nutes to the cheese as I need to know what’s she’s gonna do without em (got another seed thank god). Still got 2 months left so we’ll see what happens. Cheers 👍

Things look to be going well and some fantastic comments and advice coming from the grow diary community of very talented growers :) Just 1 main comment :) Get the girls out of those small pots and into the ground asap mate :) Autos hate being transplanted and the small pots could force the plants to flower much sooner which will reduce your end yield :) Just a thought my friend! All the best Mark.
DinafemSeeds
DinafemSeedscommented7 years ago
@Kooky, Nice job on the pitting up mate and perfect timing ;) Let those plants get established in those pots then you will see them kick into a much more vigorous growth pattern :) Your doing really well so far and I'll keep dropping in to see how you are doing :) Until next time ;) All the best Mark..

Kookycommented7 years ago
@DinafemSeeds, I was just about to post a question asking exactly that! I bought 7 gallon smart pots and I was wondering when I should transplant them. If you think I should get them out there now then that's exactly what I'm going to do. Thank you so much for the guidance and help, I greatly appreciate it!

i have a autoflower too but i have all of my auto's in a pot where they stay all of time, because if you going to put the auto in a larger pot he is going to be in stress en recovering from it. and autoflowers its not good for them because they have a flowertime that was scheduled in. but you did the others things good but an autoflower isn't a "normal" plant.

@dailygrower, Yeah that's a good point man! I'm not going to be changing pots, it'll go from the solo cup to a larger one when I move them outdoors. Didn't have enough room for them inside in big pots unfortunately. When are you going to upload photos?

@Kooky Hi there! First of all, your soil needs to alternate between dry-cycle and wet-cycle, so you need to watch carefully the amount of water you're giving, in order to avoid any over-watering stress. Secondly, your watering/feeding solution's pH should be around 6.2 (actually changing the pH every time in a range of 6.0 - 6.5 is the best). Finally, you could add some sort of greenhouse over your babies to increase RH & temperature. To do so, you can use a transparent cup with the same dimensions than your pots, this will dramatically help them during the first weeks of the vegetative stage. I'll be around, keep us up-to-date, and good luck with these babies!
