How much perlite should I add to my soil?

Go with science, my friend... www.youtube.com/watch Around 15-16mins in he talks about components and research backed assessment that anecdotal evidence just cannot compete with. The entire video is worth a watch, imho. Many of their videos are must-see. Light soil, myths... it's all there. while soil has more than peat, it's the vast majority or similar in properties to what makes up your soil. your soil, if it compacts more, would benefit even more so if that is the case. fluffy is better to a point. 50-50. Less importnt in a smller pot as drainage can't get blocked up too much. Any larger sized pot 5-7+ i'd stick to 50/50. You may water slightly more often, but could use a slightly larger pot to offbalance that too... not obligated to more work unless you don't adjust to new needs. going from 2:1 to 1:1 is a 25% drop in water capacity, assuming perlite retains none here, but does actually hold a tiny amount on surface and such ( (1/6) / (2/3) ). Put 1/3rd more in and it's same as before on watering schedule. First grow? so, this'll be somehing you can improve on after seeing how things go this time. I see you arlready did 7/3... no big deal, it is not life or death here. "optimal" starts splitting hairs at some point, of course. I wouldn't suggest uprooting or transplanting etc.. i'd see how often i water 'this' time, and do a 5050 mix with any adjustment to size relative to how often you want to water. Let that top 1" dry in soil.

I am now 3 weeks in to vegetation. At what point can I start removing the leaves that are 1)not getting a lot of light because of the internodes above, and 2) blocking light to internodes under them?

Would be better to leave sun leaves to build as much photosynthesis as possible. Just tuck all the fan leaves under the branches that shooting out from the nodes. You will have to do it twice a day but once the branches get taller than the leaves you won't have you. Good growing

Another week of not too many issues. Since it's my first grow I just let them grow to see what they do. This growth is my learning curve, training will be for future growths. So far I'm very happy with the results so far. Constructive criticism/tips and tricks are welcome.

The plants look happy, the buds are growing. They also started to drop a lot of big leaves, which I like. I'm not taking any leaves away that they didn't disconnect themselves. I'm looking forward to what the next week brings!

figuring out I have either lightburn or potassium deficiency in one of the plants. I don't really know what to do about it but i'm just gonna try and help her survive.

2 going strong, the third one holding on. Still a lot to learn, but overall still quite happy. It's still my first grow and I have zero expectation.

Looking really good. Looks like you were hitting the sweet spot with the light the way the leaves are standing. Cut back on your nitrogen amounts in flowering. The clawing is nitrogen toxicity. Plus nitrogen becomes the lowest nutrition needed in the NPK ratio for flowering 1-2-3. It also can hinder bud development. Couple tips I learned. Beside that you have a beautiful plant, and enjoy the harvest. Looks tasty🌱🌱🌱👍

@Roberts, it's my first grow, I still have a huge amount of knowledge to obtain. Thanks anyway for the shared wisdom, I know what to look into now.

@@SmokeyBear420, no biggie, it's all about helping one another to me anyway. I was unsure if you knew what was going on. The shade of green in your leaves also tells what your levels are. Another tip. The straight brown burnt tips on the leaves is potassium deficiency early sign. Now if they are curled up, and burnt it is nutrition burn. Glad I could help. I am not a perfect grower by any means. Just stuff I learned in my adventures. 🤜🤛🍻
