Go with science, my friend...
www.youtube.com/watch
Around 15-16mins in he talks about components and research backed assessment that anecdotal evidence just cannot compete with. The entire video is worth a watch, imho. Many of their videos are must-see. Light soil, myths... it's all there.
while soil has more than peat, it's the vast majority or similar in properties to what makes up your soil. your soil, if it compacts more, would benefit even more so if that is the case. fluffy is better to a point. 50-50. Less importnt in a smller pot as drainage can't get blocked up too much. Any larger sized pot 5-7+ i'd stick to 50/50. You may water slightly more often, but could use a slightly larger pot to offbalance that too... not obligated to more work unless you don't adjust to new needs. going from 2:1 to 1:1 is a 25% drop in water capacity, assuming perlite retains none here, but does actually hold a tiny amount on surface and such ( (1/6) / (2/3) ). Put 1/3rd more in and it's same as before on watering schedule. First grow? so, this'll be somehing you can improve on after seeing how things go this time.
I see you arlready did 7/3... no big deal, it is not life or death here. "optimal" starts splitting hairs at some point, of course. I wouldn't suggest uprooting or transplanting etc.. i'd see how often i water 'this' time, and do a 5050 mix with any adjustment to size relative to how often you want to water. Let that top 1" dry in soil.
