The CRY(CRYTOCHROME) photoreceptor is responsible for the plant circadian rhythm, which takes all its cues from blue light πŸ’™ levels, the photoreceptor PHY(PHYTOCHROME) is responsible for photoperiodic response this is controlled by the red and far red light levels ❀️. Typical photosynthesis using chlorophyll only eats photons between 350nm - 660nm. Once the photoreceptors receive adequate saturation shit all the good stuff happens. So the question is this. What happens when you leave UV on overnight at 280nm? UV activates an entirely different form of photosynthesis called UVR8 which 90+% only activates at 280nm THE line between uvb and uvc. Has anyone added it to Nights? If so what happens? The Kelvin cycle at night takes over, I know the differences that happen during darkness and the important role both play. Nature has rules what happens when you screw with it.....? This is in theory (I'm aware UV is damaging) I'm also aware plants build greater resistance with each generation exposed to higher and higher concentrations. (EDIT) It's fun to look back years later and stumble upon questions I had in my head at the time, past me was so dumb :) END OF RANT 1 onto the next. On a separate note, pulled all plants from the tent, marking each pot's orientation so that I could place them back inside exactly as is. I find the more you move a plant it messes with its photoreceptors. Plants distribute work tasks and growth based on saturation levels of light. Even slight adjustments can cause a lot of "side work" buds that may have reached thresholds to "grow" now don't get enough photons and the plant will stop change growth based on new values and begin to redistribute energy to other areas on the plant where photoreceptor saturation levels are higher, possibly enacting stressful growth spurts as all the colas battle in a fight for survival. Doing so often throughout flowering is imo wasted energy efficiency. This is a small detail, but cannabis is a game of inches I find. The stretch is an area I strongly wanted to focus my attention on as I feel the constant "raising of the light source, keeps the plants in a perpetual state of change(almost there). I wanted to try some ideas I've had rolling around after noticing that once you remove heat radiation from the equation a plant will naturally slow growth and send its energy back down the plant, it will still grow if it must but vertical growth will stop almost entirely around week 5, I wanted to play with the idea of not moving the light source from this point forward. Most heat radiation is removed using a fan that blasts air across the light source during "lights on" This is also supplemented by a 12" fan that blows on the drivers from above. We know too much light is not good. The plants will let me know when it has reached their thresholds, leaf ends will noticeably start to curl up and possibly crisp in extreme conditions. I want to give the plant the choice to see what it does... reach saturation point thresholds send all juice back down and fatten up all the existing flower development. Don't start what you can't finish! We are going to take the rule set for a test drive and see what happens. This will likely mean little to most, maybe I'm πŸ€ͺ, but I have been excited to experiment with this after I noticed some keen observations during the blue light treatment when these babies were born. I know this will enact stress response as it did with previous grows, and stress at this point is risky 😬 as i don't know the extent to which it will respond. I know these genetics are πŸ’ͺ with a virulent desire to grow so im confident. Time will tell. Doesn't matter if I'm right or wrong only that I grow, just so you know. πŸ˜€ In 1200 AD an Italian noticed that plants grow from the ground in a certain way. He observed that when the shoot pushed from the soil it created the stem first. Soon after appeared the first leaves and branches. The study of nature is very important for the learners. It increases the inquisitiveness among the learners. That's some bad ass genetics you got there.. luckyyyy!.. and those are some awesome and interesting details. Never knew you could use pure blue light to help clones recover.. 6 - 7 weeks isn't a bit much, tho? Not just 3 or 4 or so?? Just asking.. I'm currently working on my first clone.. got it to root in a cheap little Aero Garden hydroponic kit that I just added an air pump and air stone to.. first time using it and wow root growth is insane in hydroponics.. but my plan is to self pollinate this girl and even cross with a m/f I got as a freebie.. just waiting to see if the m/f is female or not.. fingers crossed.. anyways.. sorry I finger fucked my keyboard in your comment section.. lol anyways.. @Professor_Chaos, Yes the clones were alot smaller than they should have been, it took alot longer to re-root and stabilize. Blue light was to encourage shorter internode spacing. Led to a combination of being 6 inches tall with 7,8,9 internodes.
