My plants are pretty late (day 25) and I need to finish before end of april so I was wondering : if I put them in 48 hours of darkness just before 12/12, how many days can I gain on the flowering process ? I intend to speed them up by reducing light time gradually. Any other tip?

If you want them done as fast as possible give them 24/0 and then knock them down to 12/12. Build up the plant and help it mature as fast as possible. Then give it ideal flowering condition. 12/12 will make it flower as soon as it can but they need to be mature first. this will happen when you start to see pistils in veg, aka showing its sex. Good Luck!

Do you add all the water and then the additives (fulvic, calmag, cannazym, trychodermas and mycorhize for example) and then the nutriments? I think I'm doing it wrong, what is the correct order for a calculation method? So you know the correct amount of nutes & addtives in the ec

Put water in. If mixing with different brand nutes I'd make sure the combos work together and be careful adding silca or carboload or bud candy needs to be mixed very well and some nutes when added can not mix together and form a slim in your water. So, water in, let it rest. Add nutes, pour your 20ml of nutes into 200ml of water then add mixed water into tank doing this will avoid any slim build up by adding pure nutes to straight water. And remember DWC takes 1/3 less nutes than a manual setup. Good luck.

I noticed that when I dilute my soup too much with osmosis water in order to lower EC, PH starts falling eventually, even when my soup is a few days old (I have an air pump, it always goes up). Does it mean I have to make a new tank in that case ? why is that happening? Thanks!

when I use an air stone in my water tank I also notice my PH goes up. If I don't aerate, I only need 3-4 drops to bring it down to 6.5, if I aerate I need 8-9 drops per 4L of 85% phosphoric acid. I did a little test of it on my one grow, the link below is to the image of the results. its by no means perfect, and only used just over 1L of tap. growdiaries.com/diaries/129773-grow-journal-by-m0use/week/704902 I would bubble the water for 40min with PH adjustment before adding into the tank to help avoid any unnecessary ph fluctuations But I don't know if that works for you. Can try it out and see how well it works for yea. Good Luck!

For my next session, I will have little time available. With 15 days of vegetation and around 50 days for flowering : SOG and maybe with lst + fim + scrog. What powerful strains would you advise ? Do I have to go autoflowering ?

Bubbas Gift from Humboldt Seed Organization is an incredibly fast flowering strain, a genuine 6 weeks, but finding seeds from this company is now near impossible since the Spanish Polce closed them down a couple of years ago. Yes, American by name, but a Spanish company, under the wing of Dinafem, who were also closed down for contravening Spanish laws about offering cannabis cultivation tutorials! Two weeks veg for rooted clones may be possible, but if growing from seed, 4 weeks is about the realistic minimum. Sweet Seeds put out a range of "fast versions" with genuine 6-7 week flowering periods, but again, 4 weeks minimum veg would be required if you want to harvest a meaningful amount. Purple Punch OG, Gorilla Girl, Gorilla Sherbet, Black Jack, Jack 47, Cream Mandarine and Tropicanna Poison are all highly recommendable. Delicious Seeds also put out a line of "early versions", with similar time frames, but I haven't tried them. Autos are not all they are cracked up to be, most will still take close to 10-12 weeks, no matter what the breeders reckon. But then again, I am anti auto flowers in general and can't see myself wasting my time with them ever again. "Fimming" your plants will add about 2 weeks to their cycle, as the recovery period from fimming will delay development for a while, so it may not be the best idea. Hope this helps, Organoman.

I noticed half of the space was used by the roots in the pots last session. Since I have schedule issues, I was thinking about putting 2 plants in one 6.5L pot in order to have a 12 plants sog and use F1 seeds (90x40 cm tent), with a scrog and lst (and fim ?). Is that a bad idea?

Bad idea. Plants send out hormones from their roots and if two plants tangle roots the hormones will signal each other the wrong things-like stop growing. You dont want that. Thats on top of the nute issues the others already mentioned. There is no good idea or good part of that plan-The only time ive seen two plants in one pot or one hole is when multiple seeds are sown or multiple clones/ seedlings are planted in same hole/same pot and left for a few weeks or so and the strongest one is kept and the others removed. Other than that dont do it. If your picturing two plants as big as the single ones in a single pot then your in for a shock, at best you get one decent sized one(but still smaller than the single ones) and one stunted runt, at worst you get two stunted runts. Sorry to burst ya bubble but there are many reasons you dont see pple doing it ok.

It probably exists but I've never seen it. I poneytailed leaves instead of defoliating them, since it's their ultimate food suppply. Mostly the big ones not near the buds, can I do that on the main bud leaves ? Anyone uses this technique ? Is that a bad idea ? Did I over do it ?

Bad idea my friend. There are a few reasons for defol, and not just to allow more light penetration but also to allow more air flow in and around the plants. this air flow is needed to avoid mold issues. So what you have done here is create the ideal living conditions for mold to live in-all you need to do is add a lil moisture like when the leaves sweat/perspire and you will eventually get mold in there. Plus by closing up the leaves like that your effectively blocking most of the photoreceptors in the leaves anyways so they are not going to be doing their job. How do you expect a leaf to catch the light when its tied up in a bunch? Undo it and just do a very very light defol. Only do the leaves near the middle of the plant and you be fine. look at my diary- its week 5 of flower and aside from a few odd leaves here and there i have left 95% of my leaves on so far- that will change very soon but for now im leaving them to fatten up the buds- and yesterday I snipped off a bud I thought was moldy- it looked too white to me- it was fine, just so frosty i thought it was mold. lols.

I'm going to divide my actual 6.5L pots in 2 (with a separation so roots can't touch). It seems that max size for 3L is 30cm. I thought it would be enough for a 12 seeds sog with my tiny 90x40 tent on a tight schedule. What pot size do you use with hydro & clay balls?

The only difference I notice in pot size is the roots get exposed faster in smaller ones. It's really used as support. So as long as you have that, you're good.

Closed irrigation hydro system with clay balls. If it is too soon, will I have issues ? And what PH do you use ? I read it should be 6.3-6.4 at this stage but Canna advises 6.2 max. Thanks !

No, as soon as there are small "budlets" or tufts of pistils form, this is when to start on the P/K, a little at first then a bit more as flowering progresses.

Does the the 3rd generative period start when leaves start to grow inside the pistil's buds ? Right now they're at Day 68 from seed, 35 days from 12/12 with 30 days remaining. Thanks !

I use canna and the week that you use PK 13/14 will be 4 weeks before Harvest. So a 10 week strain will be week 7, 9 week strain will be week 6. Etc etc. what’s the flowering period for your strain?

Would anyone have an idea why the ec in my tank goes up every day of the plant, like 7 or 8 hours after the lights are on ? Evaporation ? The plants eat more at this time of the day ? Overfeeding ? Got a small 20L tank and a tight space. Thx !

Evaporation is a possibility. if tank seals well, this is less likely as it'll condensate and rip back down.. minimizing any amount that can drift off at one time. more fans on during light hours or do they run 24/7? That plus extra heat will likely be the difference in evaporation between light and dark cycles. where are the meters? could this impact their readings? the plant drinks... what is in solution isn't selected out or in... so the plant drinking more or less won't affect the EC. How quickly the plant drinks will impact the time allowed for evaporation to have an effect, though. Each rez change and even top-off to some extent would reset or partially reset that clock (top-off). Or, if oyu used your meters to level it off again with a little added h2o, if needed... however it gets done, lol. Rate of evaporation will impact EC because as some water goes off as a gas, the solutes (nutes) remain in the smaller volume of solution that remains in the substrate -> increased EC. Other possiblities are other life forms doing all sorts of potential things lol... but in this case i doubt it is a microbial event.

@Maskedcucumber, That's way cool! I'm going to have to look into it further. have their site open in another tab. Thanks for sharing!

@JohnQPublic1917, exactly. with this system you can program a lot, almost anything you want, You can add sensors detectors, flood probes, smoke detector, peristaltic pumps, solenoids, waterpumps... It handles 4 power outputs you can program individually. You can have the tank manager with all probes (with more outputs for small devices) with it or the soil manager. And they have a great team. You still have to calculate your EC yourself and this is not on cellphone, though (with so many options you would need quite a big screen anyway). There are other systems but this one is very customizable and extremely flexible to your needs and it's reliable,it works very well and professionnals use it. It's called Grolab.
