Day 3: Planted 3 Regular Northern Skunk seeds in rapid rooters in organic soil and coco 50/50 mix. Moistened soil with 6.0 ph water placed in humidity dome with cracked vents under 2 48 watt T5s.
I have a total of 5 reg northern skunk plants now. Started 2 a couple weeks ago. The one on the right grew a bit deformed, but is starting to put out proper leaves now, going to wait and see what happens. Still under 2 48 watt t5s. I have 4 plants in my flower tent so this is where they’ll stay til those are done. Gave a light feeding the other day before we start into the full strength feeding in the next couple days. Order of germination from L-R is 1,5,4,3,2. # 2 is the deformed one.
Let all 5 dry out, then fed with recommended seedling strength CNS17 Grow. 6.1 Ph 530 ppm. Had good growth since last week, one plant (NS5) was laying flat on the lip of the cup turned up towards the light. Gently lifted it and propped it back up with more medium. Since has turned back up towards light, seems ok. Misting with 6.0 ph at least once a day.
All 5 northern skunk transplanted to 2 gallon pots in coco, still under T5s for a couple more weeks til the other plants are done. They are growing slowly but steadily due to the low wattage. Will be topped in the next week.
All plants topped to 3 nodes, top 3 nodes put into rapid rooters to flower out and check if male or female. Either having an overwatering or ph issue with N3, yellowing and necrosis of leaves. All plants recovering quickly with signs of growth since topping. Going pretty well so far, think they will blow up under MH.
Moved all 5 over to my flower tent. Couldn’t wait any longer in the veg tent. Now all 5 (unsure of sexes yet) under 1000w 7200 K Mh ballast dimmed to 50%, light levels between 50-65,000 lumens. They will stay like this for about 10 days and be put in 3 gal pots. Did LST on all tops and removed some small branches and leaves from bottom of plant. I have a new PH pen in the mail so hopefully wont have anymore Ph issues.
Was out of town for the week. Wasn’t sure what I was going to be coming home to. Everything looks good. A couple yellow leaves at the bottom, which I removed. Watered with 6.0 150ppm water as I fed before leaving after transplanting to 3 gal pots. Believe #1&3 are males as their clones were (but were also pretty stressed). The other 3 seem to be female but we’ll see in a couple days once I started start flowering.
Day 3 of flower. Still have to see about sexes. Think I have 3 females and 2 males. Things look good. Smell is nice and strong up close. Will be cleaning up lower branches and taking a couple clones from each for next round. Keeping the MH bulb on for the first week or 2 to minimize stretch then switch to HPS.
Day 10 Flower: I had to make a game time audible this week. Turns out I only have 1 female. So I’m goin go to do some heavy LST and spread it out as much as possible and use a scrog net to support the branches. I don’t think I’ll be able to fill The whole 4x4 area so I added an old mother Tutankhamen to fill the space. Otherwise she is looking good branching out nicely. Pistils showing and buds starting to form. Will be changing to HPS bulb on day 14.
Things have been going well this week. Changed over to HPS 1000w dimmed to 75%. Pistils showing on little buds. Good, noticeable growth every day or two. Coco is drying out every 2-3 days.
Some yellowing this week. Trying to figure out if it’s an N issue or a P issue. Upped my PPM and it lessened. Nice stacked growth, buds getting larger and more pistils popping out.
Upped the PPM and the yellowing decreased. Buds have increased in height and size. Watering every 2 days. Smell is more fruity like berries and not much skunk at this point, very nice. The 4 corner colas are about 12-14” tall. Pretty pleased so far.
Nice growth this week. Fan leaves starting to dark. Tips yellowing, recalibrated ph meter just in case. Smell is nice, more fruity like berry than skunk. Lots of trichomes spilling out onto fans. Pistils starting to darken and buds getting thicker.
DAY 53: Some of the larger fan leaves are turning yellow with necrotic spots on them. Buds continue to fatten. Possibility of some foxtailing so I raised the light also cupping of fans. Smells is very strong, even with carbon filter, itis fruity like berries still but with a bit more skunk than last week. Colas are a nice size, About 14 inches tall and 3.5 inches in diameter. Watering every 2-3 days til run off. Trichomes still clear and some pistils darkening. Some calyxs swollen with pistils still. Trying to keep it going til day 65-70 or longer.
I am on day 53, I know it’s normal for plants to yellow later in flower, mine turn yellow very early like week 7. Some people way later and theirs are still very green. I recalibrated my ph pen week 6. Happened in under feeding too. Makes bud look awful. What am I doing wrong??
Hi @SAC87! My guess is that you're experiencing deficiencies due to a miscalibrated pH-pen, meaning you did water with a wrong pH for a few weeks. In coco, sticking to the ideal pH-range is the key, 5.5~5.9 is what you want, if you're under/over this range you will certainly encounter deficiencies, such as copper and potassium. Give her a good meal with a reasonable amount of blooming nutrient and a correct pH, she should be fine, affected leaves won't recover but you will boost her bud production for the last days before the flush. Day 58: I’d like to start by thanking the people who answered my question. Since I made the PH correction and lowered the light a couple inches it seems I’ve added some mass. Took some lights out pictures, still quite yellow, but turning nice dark color like the pictures on the peak seeds website. Going to start the flush at the end of week depending on what the trichomes are looking like. Pistils reddening up. Main colas are about 16-17” tall and about 3.5” diameter.
Day 63: Plants got their last feed and will start the flush this week. All trichomes are cloudy, none are amber that I’ve been able to see. Do you guys wait til ambers are showing to flush? Buds have put on more mass and a tip coming off the top of each (idk if its foxtailing). I’m pretty pleased with the size and smell of the buds. Thinks it’s as good as it’s going to get with the issues I had earlier. Fan leaves have all darkened/ yellowed and are pretty leathery.
Day 70: Just flushing with water, plant dries out in about 2 days. Will flush with florokleen after a couple plain water flushes. Plant looks good, seems a bit thicker in the colas and center buds. Trichomes getting more cloudy and an Amber here and there. Nice deep purple almost black tint to the leaves. Hope The effects are what I’m after.
Day 76: I have flushed with florokleen twice this week. Plants are currently under 36-48 hour shift of darkness prior to harvest. Plants are looking good. Approx 5% Amber trichomes, all pistils have turned Amber. Top colas looking a bit kush like. They have 3/4” possible foxtailing in a couple spots. Smell has lessened a bit but still quite potent. All fans have yellowed and are necrotic and dry. Sugar leaves are dark purple and look pretty neat in person. I’m quite it’s pleased with these Peak Seeds and look forward to sampling this. Smell is still more fruity like berries rather than skunk but that’s fineness with me.
Harvested on day 77. Will do a harvesting review once it’s dry. Wet weight is 9.5 ounces, pretty pleased with the volume either way. I’m not 100% sure how accurate my scale is. I’m a medical patient so weight isn’t my top priority. Trimming smell was intense and could be smelled outside.... the trichomes felt large and gritty between the fingers. Quite pleased with outcome so far, hopefully the effects and flavor are what I’m after. For sure the largest colas ive grown. Took 10 clones the other day from the mother for another round.
This Peak Seeds Northern Skunk went to day 77 and is very relaxing if in small amounts, narcotic stone with couch lock and appetite in moderate amounts. I’m pretty sure a large amounts would put you to sleep fairly quickly. Grew easily, I’m new so in excited to see its potential later on.

I’m going to try it in a sog next but only go 9 weeks for hopefully a less narcotic feeling but still relaxing. Will definitely try again, came out with a lot of bud after making a couple mistakes.
@Stick, @CRiSPrGrow, @OutForRealgrow, @Drtomb, thanks for the replies. I have been following the feed chart from Botanicare. I had some N deficiency earlier on in the grow and managed to get some green back. Do you think that’s why it went necrotic so fast, they had already started 3ish weeks ago. I did a good feed with and added cal mag and pk boost at 1450ppm at 5.7 PH the day you replied. At this point would you suggest to defoliate those dead leaves (they are leathery) and let the light into those buds, or just let it be for a bit? Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.
@SAC87,Hello ! I'm not a defo pro but it could help you to get more light but if the leaves can't do a correct photosynthesis because they are damaged then you will not gain that much (according to me). I would not touch the leaves but it's up to you 👍
@SAC87, i would leave em on as long as possible, many if not most of the leaves are affected you might be cutting off a lot of photosynthesis ability if you take em all off. The plant's going to focus only on getting more flowers at this point anyway.
Yeah unfortunately you're right SAC87, you got a P/K deficiency because the plants have really started to blow up on the flowering so they are sucking all the nutes out. You might want to try addit a mag sulfur boost + P/K to your current feed - that should straighten out the new growth.
Hey there you.mentioned the trichromes being all cloudy, I think as long as you're not seeing mostly clear then its safe to start the flush. Over the next several days you may see some amber show up, but even if you didnt as long as they're milky, have swollen mushroom heads and the pistils have discolored and curled in, youll have a great end product. 👍
@Experimentgreen, I’ll usually try to find a combo that’s works. I also practice making butter, concentrates and hash. That way it gets used up and don’t waste when I’m making stuff with strains I like.
@SAC87, i can completely agree with that, i love seeing beautiful colors, but if the effects arent there i may as well throw it out or donate it to someone else. Im very picky and sensitive with my cannabis, too many strains give me anxious feelings, or negative side effects that I've gotten to where I pick and choose my strains carefully.
@CRiSPrGrow, P/K deficiency with those EC 👉 week 14 EC = 3.1 and this week 2.6 ? SNS17 Ripe is a 1-5-4 Npk nutrient , Pure blend tea is a 0.5-0.5-1 👉 No Pk def to me. Agreed or disagree ?😋
I run CNS17 and have the same issues and almost identical looking leaves. CNS17 is deficient in providing the right amount of magnesium for sure. Since starting to add MgSO4 to my solutions I have not observed the same deficiency issues. The catch is....if you use Cal Mag you will have toxic levels of calcium and nitrogen...Just my .02
Hey great looking grow and congratulations on the harvest. Quick question. You say wet weight but then have all your buds jarred and bagged up with boveda in? Is this how you are going to dry them or will you hang them for a week as normal?
@TheIceCreamParlour,I hung for 3 days, then the sugar leaves started to get crispy. It’s winter where I am and the humidity is about 30%. From the couple of grows I’ve done this is what I’ve found works. Helps to control the speed in which the moisture is released. I dry by leaving the jars open for about 3-5 hours a day then close them up depending on feel.
@SAC87 great looking plants! I left for a week and wasn't as lucky (I had to remove about 15% of the leaves) but still she bounced back. Happy growing!
I personally never remove leaves unless they are ready to come off on there own. You can tell, just simply lightly tug on the leaf and if it easily comes off it was meant to be. If not leave it, any color in the leaf is the plants stored food, it will use them whenever you aren't supplying enough food.
I honestly rarely go over ~900ppm and I'm pushing decent pulls of wieght. I don't use bloom boosters at all. But that's just me.
