Germination

I am super excited about this grow. Tropicanna Banana is my favourite Sativa and one of very few strains I'm doing a repeat grow on. Germination went well and she will be kept in the small 1 litre air pot for a couple of weeks before she gets transplanted into an 11 litre fabric pot. This lady will be sharing the tent with a Wedding Cake from Zamnesia. Update on day 11 I've managed to almost kill this little seedling together with the Wedding Cake. I have 2 new lights and I mixed the specs up a bit and screwed up. I should have double checked the recommended settings before just doing it... I have fried my little babies!!! I decided to germinate another bean and do it it right this time. Instead of setting the light's dimmer to 50%, I'll do the recommended 25% and it should hopefully work better. Update on day 13 The new seedling has been born.

I'm still getting used to the new light, and I have slightly burnt the new seedling as well. I have now turned the dimmer down to about 20% since 25% was too much.

So, I have almost managed to kill seedling 2 as well. The first one is not quite dead yet, but it's very near now.... I'm still struggling to find the correct hang height and dimmer setting on the light. I also realised the main problem was that my seedling box, that I thought I was cleverly using, kind of cooked the seedlings. The box itself had melted from the heat, so it must have got pretty hot. Anyway, the seedling is now 18 days and it's tiny. I'm hoping I haven't done too much damage, and that it will recover. The other seedling in the tent is doing better, and I have hope for both.

After I burnt all my seedlings with the light setting too high, we have seen some recovering. The little one that was firstly germinated looks terrible, the other looks a bit better and has at least grown a bit.

Initially I planned to have 2 plants in the tent, a Tropicanna Banana and a Wedding Cake. After my mishap with the new light I've ended up with 3 decent plants and 1 little Tropicanna Banana Runt. I have now changed my mind and will keep the 3 larger plant for sure - 1 Tropicanna Banana and 2 Wedding Cake. These 3 have been up potted to 11 litre fabric pots. The little runt will be kept in a small pot for as long as I can manage to keep it alive. The larger plant has been topped.

The plants are doing well. The bigger one is starting to grow properly, the small one is growing slowly. The auto irrigation should get things moving....

The last 5 days it has started to take off. I defoliated the larger plant and trained it by tying some branches down. It has been put in darkness for 24 hours and tomorrow it'll start the flowering process.

The little plant is recovering and she does ok. I'll leave her in that small pot and keep her without topping her. We'll see how she'll turn out in that 1 litre pot amongst 3 bigger plants. The bigger plant is doing great. I have trained her a bit to even the canopy out. I have also defoliated her some.

I have kept training her a bit this week, and aslso done some defoliation. We're having problems in the tent! 3 out of 4 plants show defeciences. I realised the other day and tried to correct nute mix by making it stronger and adding some grow nutes. I don't know what the problem is. Looking at leaf deficiency charts it looks to me like there is a Zinc deficiency. I don't understand why. The largest plant in the tent, a Wedding Cake, is looking great. She is starting to show the initial signs of over feeding after the last few days of feeding corrections, though, and I don't want to give them any stronger mix. They all share the same nutrient mix. I'll flush them tomorrow. Hopefully they'll be okay after that and recover...

Hi, my plants show deficiencies in the second week of flowering. Looking at leaf deficiency charts, it looks to me like the plants have an issue with a Zinc deficiency. I'm using chelated nutrients, and I consequently don't have any pH issues. Anyone have any idea what's wrong?

If it's only happening to top canopy leaves, I think it's light burn. Raise your lamp or lower the number of hours per day of light. You need to get your Daily Light Integral down.

Grow Mates: I’m looking at the ends and seeing that they are not truly burnt. Burnt is brown. This is tan…and not on all the leaves also. Nutrient burn will torch your leaves brown with a quickness from new to old pending how bad. I agree with a flush and check your dayum pH man 🤣🤣🤣

Hi there. Your probably over feeding her with nutes, plus your diary says your running in coco but your ph is 7. Now when growing soiless like coco or dwc the recommended ph is between 5.5 and 6.5 with the sweet spot being between 5.8and 6.2. Try running a mild nute solution with ph 6 through so you get plenty of runoff.

So, this baby is recovering alright. Her new growth is looking good and she has done a little bit of stretching. The little plant has stretched a bit more and is 5 cm taller. The tallest plant in the tent is a Wedding Cake that is measuring 70 cm. They're not growing very strongly and I do not expect a very high yield, but it should hopefully make for it in goodness. Tropicanna Banana is one of my favourite smokes.

The plants are doing alright. They have recovered well and have started to produce some buds. The larger plant is quite weak, and the buds are looking like they'll get small. I have removed some foliage.

The plant is doing alright, but it's not going to get very big, but the buds are developing nicely. The little plant has gained some height and should yield some nice buds as well.

These babies are looking quite ok now. They have recovered well from the mistreatment they got earlier. The buds are starting to show some proper frostiness.

The plants are small, but we start to see some proper buds. The buds look like they'll end up hard and solid. They're full of trichomes and should be good. Unfortunately we're under spider mite attack. I'm not sure if I should treat that or just leave them til harvest...

It seems like Banana Tropicanna is a magnet for red spider mites. The other 2 plants in the tent are hardly affected at all. I sprayed them with a mix of potassium soap and Tec-Fort. We see some very good trichome production and I think we'll get some decent buds in the end. I will stop feeding them now.

So, it wasn't an ideal grow. We had some serious problems and I got small plants as a result. But, I believe the buds will still be great. I had some problems with spider mites in the tent, and they went for the these plants and hardly touched the Wedding cakes. I also tortured my plants by light burning the seedlings and we had some nutrient lock out after the switch. Considering all those problems I am happy with the results. I am very happy I kept the little one in the 1 litre pot. It has the best looking buds of them all.
