It’s a long way to go to the harvest…growing slowly. May be it’s what I like when I grow photo-periodical plants outdoor….taking time. So this Big Foot look healthy; it’s one of my favorite outsider for this summer. Happy and confident about growing this Sweet Seeds strain outdoor (+greenhouse).

It’s time to put the plant in a bigger pot (8L). I will make the same in may be 3 week (17L). By this oceanic climate plants start flowering at the end of July; I need to control the stretch to obtain medium size plant.

Healthy plant , the stretch is under control: cut the apex of the two main branches (borned with the first cut). I cooked a preparation to protect the plant against aphids: mashing tomatoes leaves + distilled water, wait 24h, filter and spray on the whole plant. I prepared Apichi : garlic, chilies, pepper and alcohol to prevent red spiders; must wait 2 weeks before using this.

After 11 days leaving plants alone….Automatic watering Blumat with 2 clay sticks (1 XL) and 5L water reserved, ventilation programmed All the geographic area was in “red code” heatwave; day air temperatures 40 degrees, 25 at night during 1 week. One manual watering (by friend) middle week… Big foot was a little bit shocked by these heat wave; these plant have a limited resistance to heat and need a raisonable watering. May be I schould defoliated. Despite of this extreme climatic sequence, Big Foot look good and healthy, fighting numbers of pests and vermins flowing around. Good strain….now waiting for blooms😜

Efficient stagnation of the growing process, lot of flowering stigmata.Start flowering countdown: around 9 weeks but 12 is more probable. I treat the whole plant, spraying Neem oil solution to ward off vermin. A new heat wave is announced: it can encourage insect proliferation. It will be a long fight till the end. The Big Foot is not the most resistant plant to extreme heat: must be careful to watering. The handmade bamboo espalier attached to the pot support and guide some branches but for this plant it’s almost facultative. The general structure is solid and bushy.it seems that the branches can support reasonable weight of flowers without help…one more hardy breed by Sweet Seeds.

First flowering week after 130 days growing. I should have been more patient this year… may be 90 days is enough for a good growing process: preserving soil, less exposed to pest and vermin, less time spend to caring plant. Anyway, this big foot is going to the next stage in good conditions : healthy, nice medium size, structured like “Y”, lot of blooming sites. One more plant treatment against aphids, red spiders etc… .Vaporized tomato leaves solution and 5 days later used the Apichi solution (garlic/pepper/chili/alcool) Start with the Terra Flores, it’s organic and easy…. To be continued….

Very dynamic flowering process. Will defoliate this bushy plant for more light penetration in the low parts. Perfect resistance to the 3rd heat wave, using a minimum watering by Blumat system (clay cones). Vaporized the Apichi (garlic, pepper, chili, alcohol)

Ideal weather conditions this week: not to hot, may be to much humidity caused by big rain storms. Fortunately the greenhouse is a temperate and ventilate shelter for the plants. This Big Foot is flowering vigorously. All the process is concentrate on the main solid branches .

Plant changing fast, the aspect is totally different; branches are just support for flowers and future buds. I inspect the whole plant everyday to control if there is some mealybug on the branches and nodes…one of the plants in the greenhouse was infested. I’m fighting with those ugly insects since I discovered this little brown caps stuck on the branches few days ago. The Big Foot is intact so I sprayed a infusion of tobacco mix with alcohol to prevent mealybug attack. The last weeks are crucial: plant need more attention to stay healthy till the end.

Lot attention this week; inspecting the plant everyday, searching. for the last mealybug. Vaporized a infusion of tomato leaves with alcohol after defoliation. I added a few grams of guano bat by Top Crop on the soil; a boost of nitrogen, phosphorus, magnesium after 24 weeks growing in pot. Terra Flores by Canna seems working good. It’s cool to use one global flowering fertilizer. September is well engaged, giving perfect conditions for the plant: 26 to 30 degrees day temperatures, 17 to 19 at night with average humidity, sunny days…

My robust and vigorous Big Foot is in danger. Green caterpillars are eating some parts of the plant. After facing proudly to the Mealybugs infestation with a high resistance and immto this predator; I must fight against a green caterpillar attack. Last year I had this problem and some serious damages à during last weeks of flowering caused by grey mold: botrytis. I grabbed and killed a few caterpillars this days. I sprayed the solution of pepper, garlic, chili and alcohol but it seems ineffective and it can burn flowers. So I order Neem oil and pyrethrum ( seems to strong, too much precautions…..probably don’t used it). Otherwise the outdoor conditions are great for September. The flowering plants process is well advised for this plant and Canna Terra Flores make the job. Watered one time with Silic Boost and one time with Cannazym this week. It”s now midnight: time to hunt caterpillars 💡🐛☠️.

First 3 days of the week dedicate to fight against Green caterpillars. Received and used an insecticide: Spruzit by Neudorff (spray)…I found some survivors 2 days after and now the infestation seems to be contained…I’m staying vigilant. Did a defoliation, cutting the leaves eaten by caterpillars. Buds are getting fat and heavy. Intense fragrance. Used Top Crop guano bat powder first day (tablespoon) I willl stopped feeding the plant at the end of the next week and start flushing. This Big Foot will be probably ready in 3 weeks max…63 day flowering. Daylight 12h26

The bud are fat and look near the maturity point. The caterpillars are definitely gone and didn’t caused any damages. No mold signs. The story of 7 months growing will ending in a good way. Around 50 days flowering. The exact date of the flowering process starting is uncertain; because….outdoor. Big Foot need around 60 days to be ready for harvest. We had one more sunny week…the last of this 2022 summer. Autumn is coming with humidity, freshness morning, daylight shortening. September is the month with the most big range of thermal and light movement. Loosing 2 hours daylight in 30 days (5 minutes each days). The gap between the morning temperatures and the afternoon is around 20 degrees this days. Started to flush the plant: Water and Water + Flawless Finish.

Big Foot: Grimace OG (ChemDawg cross+OG Kush) x HashPlant (Northern lights+Afghani) Hybrid 50% Sativa/50% Indica 60 days Flo (+/- 70) Started 21/03 -Flo 1/08….harvest 1st October Result: 290g wet buds: this is certainly not a mass harvest…But the mission is complete. The objectives were: 1-growing medium plant for discretion(neighbors, robbers) in medium pot for moving it. 2-obtain an harvest 3-smoke a good homemade weed So the session is a success, even if meteorological conditions were extreme, predators were hungry. Grow resume: Easy grow during vegetation period. The development is vigorous and the 2 successive topping give a stocky and bushy structure, with a deep green color. The plant endured 4 heat waves with day temperatures up to 40 degrees and night at 25 degrees. The strain showed a strong resistance, survived with a minimum automatic watering (Blumat) during holiday weeks. The growing process was never be affected by heat. Good rooting system. The plant was just limited by the pot size. Flowering period started as usual at the beginning of August. Big foot revealed here potential with a dynamic and fast flowers development. The battle against parasites was long and stressful but the predators and the treatments didn’t cause concrete damages or stress to the plant. The bud became large, dense, sticky, with a strong, almost aggressive smell ; in just 60 days. After 2 weeks flushing, I stopped watering 6 days before Harvest and put the plant in total obscurity during 72h. Final cut: 1st October during the last days of the waning moon. Conclusion: The bonus objective was to get around 100g of dry buds at the end…. It will be not for this time but growing Big Foot was a pleasant experience and I’m now impatient to smoking it. The Sweet Seeds description of the strain is realistic. I’m Satisfy to have chosen it. Observation and things to change for next sessions: - be more patient to start the germination: after mid April is better: no artificial light required to complete a daylight duration up to 12 hours, less cold. - grow in a bigger pot: 40L - find solutions to protect the plant against insects aggression: natural predators or beneficial associations of plants. - try to used less liquid and concentrate nutrients, preferring a slow nutrients way and a good soil preparation.
