In the last three weeks, the plant grew considerably in size. Now the Gorilla Breath use a big place in the space culture: large and stocky, with long intermodal distance, lemon green colored. The vegetative period is quite over…some signs (stop growing, female stigmata) announce the blooming period.
This strain need around 10 weeks…11 or 12 is more realistic to ending the flowering process.

It’s like the first real flowering week. The plant grow a few centimeters more and look vigorous and healthy with the better weather conditions. Less humidity caused by rain storms could be better….but there is ventilation and cool temperature inside the greenhouse: this Gorilla look happy…😁
Strongest and fastest plant of this outdoor and greenhouse session. The final size of this Gorilla Breath is pretty big for a plant growing in a 17L pot. Vigorous flowering, well engaged. Unfortunately there is danger around with a plant infested by mealybugs near this one. The problem seems resolved but I sprayed a infusion of tobacco mixed with alcohol on the whole plant to prevent a proliferation.
The last weeks till the harvest are stressful; it’s not time to fail!
This his the time for Gorilla to show her potential of powerful flowering. I did a defoliation to prevent Mealybugs and concentrate the energy in the blooms..
One more vaporization with a infusion of tomato leaves with alcohol. I want stopping this method of treatment as soon as i fixed the mealybug problem definitely.
I inspect the whole plant every days….situation seems clear.
September start with perfect conditions: summer goes on; sunny, less heat, average night humidity.
Hard summer for nature and people: heat waves, gigantic fires, no rain, violent storms…but in some lucky part of Europe this year will be a great vintage for weed.

A new war began, identified enemy: Heliothis caterpillar 😱.
After mealybugs, I discovered 3 days ago some problems on leaves, seems like they were eating by a mysterious agressor. I found quickly the first green caterpillar: at this point you know that your harvest is really in danger. I had this problem last year, lately identified, caused damages, gray mold (Botrytis), lost a part of harvest.
I started with a vaporization with Leaf Coat (biobizz) , I grabbed several caterpillar, throwing them in vinegar. Today I vaporized the mix I cooked some weeks ago: garlic, pepper, chili, alcohol. I will hunt caterpillar this night.

The Gorilla was the principal target of the caterpillars; I found number of them, approximately 10 or more in a week. Lot of damages on leaves, I had to cut a part of them to prevent diseases, molds etc…I used the insecticide Spruzit by Neudorff (Spr) middle week). The infestation seems blocked, only a few survivors(2 or 3). Permanent alert.
Starting week using a tablespoon of Top Crop guano bat (15g) on the soil. From now it.s probably 2 or 3 weeks before flushing.
Flowers are growing nicely despite of 2 successives agressions. This end of summer is suspenseful.
Lucky September with sun and cool temperatures, no rain…Daylight 12h26.
The Gorilla was the most impacted by successively Mealybugs and caterpillars. Lot of stress, a massive defoliation disturbed the flowering process.
For now, all insects are eliminated and this September period is really favorable: sun, medium hot temperatures with morning freshness and no significant humidity. Daylight 12h03 (-5 minutes/day).
Changed plant nutrients; choosing the organic way to end the flowering period with Bio Bloom and Top Max by BioBizz.
For long time I was sure that it was better to start growing late in April /May to get a shorter period of growth and one topping maximum. Finally the other plant in the garden started earlier, gets 2 successive topping (after 1 month) and became more bushy with bigger buds, certainly an higher yield. Will see in a few weeks.
However the flowers procure a strong and particularly spicy smell.
Gorilla Breath is ending the flowering cycle without problems. The Autumn is already there: plant leaves are turning in yellow color like the other tree in the garden. Remain number of very dense flowers with this particular and powerful smell.
Flushing till a week to harvest maybe half October ( next waning moon 17 to 29 October)
Lot of sunshine this days, temperatures around 27 degrees, low humidity: good for maturation. Daylight 11h28.
Peaceful period, the die is cast: just waiting the optimum point of maturity. May be one week more before the dark room (48/72h) and the harvest.

Leaves are turning yellow and the smelly flowers are bigger. No signs of botrytis (can happen after caterpillars infestation) or mold. One more sunny week, no rain and hot temperatures. Around 11h daylight.
Growing and smoking Gorilla Breath is a unique, quasi mystical experience. This plant is large, tall, solid, resinous and stinky, the King Gorilla reigns over the garden. Not easy for discretion.
All branches support a compact and sticky top bud colored in lime lime green with touch of purple.

Result:
61g of dry flowers: A small reasonable yield for a 17l pot size, but a unique and top selected genetic. This Gorilla specimen is impressive by his large structure, giving some big pretty resinous buds; acid green color with touches to purple. The smell is the strongest and aggressive I’ve ever tested. It will be a surely a tasty and strong weed to smoke.
Grow resume:
starting germination a little bit later than other plants in the garden but it was the perfect timing: didn’t need to used artificial light and this Gorilla became the tallest plant of the summer 9session .
The plant grew fast, solid and large. After almost 17 weeks growing, changing pot 2 times and did one topping: we have a healthy lime green little tree with long sides branches and big Indica leaves. A bamboo structure (espalier) fixed to the pot offer a necessary support for ramifications and future heavy flowers.
Good reaction to the mineral nutrients General Hydroponic Flora series, no signs of nutrients deficiency at the end of the vegetative cycle.
The plant need a good quantity of water but is robust and well developed.
The flowering period was more problematic. After heat waves, insects and parasites appeared; successively: aphids, Mealybugs and caterpillars. Did lot of organic treatments on leaves, big defoliations during many day. Finally the plant had some stress and damages even if the flowering was never interrupted or slow down。
feeding with Canna Terra Flores during August, used Top Crop Guano bat to bring nitrogen and BioBizz to finish with organic nutrients.
Mid October was time to harvest before to have problems like botrytis or mold in the ultra sticky and resinous buds.
Conclusion:
Gorilla breath is not one of those pretty girls in a garden… He is a big daddy: Large and stinky. It’s a remarkable plant, great potential. The humbolt Gorilla’s genetic is perfect. No regrets to choosing it for this outdoor session 2022.
