4/27: Well, this being my fourth grow, I'm feeling much more comfortable w/ the growing process. I decided to spend a bit more on premium genetics this pump; Gorilla Glue x Banana Butter Cups...Who could resist?! Although, given the popularity of S1G among the growing community (at least on IG, YouTube, and various podcasts), I have to say I'm confused by the lack of representation on Grow Diaries. "Criminally underrepresented" from another grower 😋 Where are all the S1G growers!?! *Re-using soil*: This is my first time reusing soil, which is assuredly a big base change. Hopefully there aren't any hiccups along this vein. I removed all the dead root/leaf scrap from my previous grow, amended it w/ Coast of Maine Stonington Blend Plant Food amendment (1/2 Cup per 5 gal pot), watered the soil, and let it sit for a few days before planting seeds. NG seeds set in distilled water for 24hrs, then transferred to a papertowell (on heated mat). Seeds responded vigorously. **If you're interested in following this grow, please don't hold back on your observations/assessments! I have MUCH to learn and any help from the broader growing community will be highly appreciated; even direct constructive criticism. Share what you've learned! 😁** 4/28: Alright, I'll say it. These sprouts are cute. Come on, right? So much joy, reflection, intense appreciation of nature, and relaxation derived from just one little plant 🙏

First week of veg in the books. Small distilled watering daily, slowly moistening the soil around the plants for root dev. I'm always amazed at how delicate cannabis is at this stage, yet they'll explode in growth soon enough. Nature is so damn beautiful! How lucky we are 😁🙏 I bought some items for compost teas, which I've never used before, but I'm pumped to employ for this grow. Lobster compost, fish bone meal, humid acids, Angel's Touch (K), molasses, and a touch of Recharge. I think they'll like it! I also included a shot of my wife's latest piece. She's a developing artist w/ a lot to say; maybe someone out there wants to listen 😊

Gearing up to use compost teas this pump. What is your "general" rule for teas? How often do you use them? Time based (get ahead of issues and pump them full w/ goodies) or based on an analysis/defs of each plant?

Not much to share -- Slow and steady entry into full-veg: - Water (pH'd): Once every two days w/ a touch of recharge. - Other Observations: Plant #2 has a minor leaf mutation and is slightly smaller than #1. Most likely nothing, but I'll be watching her for any abnormal development. I'll begin amending the soil next week, as this is a recycled soil run and needs the love (earlier feed in veg than I've done before). Topping and LST in-play here soon 💪 If you've grown *any* strain of S1G, shoot me your grow diary or thoughts on the genetics/best grow practices! Would love to learn from anyone willing to share their experiences 🙏😁

Upcoming compost tea planning (first use of tea methodology): Fish bone meal, angel's touch, lobster compost, molasses, and recharge. Any thoughts on this combination? Also, what do you do w/ the leftover amendments in the bag? Throwing them away seems like a waste, no?

Hey there TCH, i'm circling back because what i do is (if) i have excess feed i collect it along with whatever comes out of the bottom of the pots into trays, and just reuse that on flower and fruit plants in the garden. You top dressing is okay but there's a pretty huge lag from when you've added it until it's rained enough for it to work. Make it so it's available to the plants you're giving it to right? just make more tea to have some left over , if you can. Remember , Tea is not precision science, the more you bubble the better it is until a point. Hope this helps ! 🚀

Week 3 Plant #1 is crushing it! Extremely vigorous growth when compared w/ #2. - Topping: My first time topping, so we'll see how they respond (Chopped between 4th and 5th nodes). - LST: I didn't review any docs on topping + LST (I should have), so I just went w/ what felt right. Topped on Day 1, LST on Day 2, and top-dress Day 3. - Top-Soil Amendment: I used 1/2 Cup CoM plant food to blend into the top-soil in each 5 gal pot. Because I'm recycling soil, I have to be a bit more on-top of the amendment game to ensure there aren't any nutrient deficits. New genetics, new soil process, new training, and new amendments! A lot of movement in this pump, but I'm super excited to see how premier genetics grow 😁 🙌

Week 4 Plant #1 is HEARTY! Biggest fan leaves I've ever seen. Plant #2 is coming along beautifully -- Not as rigorous, but balanced. #2 also have purple stems, while #1 does not. I've seen NG from several other growers displaying this purpling characteristic, so I'm not worried, but since #1 doesn't, should I be? **Potential Issues** 1) #2 has some very minor tip-burn...Maybe I should hold-off on top-dressing for an extra week? Any thoughts? 2) #1 is exploding w/ growth, and the top-half of the plant displays light green growth. This it's more than just light-colored new growth. Thoughts? Run-Down: - LST: Have now manipulated almost all sites. Every day or two getting in there for leaf tucking or slightly adjusting/tightening the LST. - Top-Soil Amendment: Second top-dress of CoM plant food (1/2 Cup). - Compost Tea (1 Gal): 1/8 Tsp humic acid, 1 TBSP molasses, 1/2 Cup earthworm castings, 1/2 Cup CoM lobster compost, and a dab of recharge. 24 hr brew. This week is going to be a big grow week -- Can't wait to see these gals in full veg beast-mode! 😁

Week 5 Plant #1 is facing some nutrient issues -- I believe it's either a calcium or magnesium def. I didn't begin supplementing w/ organic cal-mag until last week, and maybe that was too late. Will have to correct this before flipping to flower. I defoliated several massive fan leaves from bottom and middle part of plant to uncover around 6 top sites, which was much earlier than I initially planned, but it didn't seems wise to keep those top sites covered this far into flower. Plant #2 is growing VERY balanced -- Please w/ her growth. **Potential Issues** 1) Both plants are cal or mag def. Increased to 2ml/gal cal-mag and will ride this out until they're looking better. Run-Down: - LST: Every day or two getting in there for leaf tucking or slightly adjusting/tightening the LST. - Defoliation: Minor defoliation on #2 to expose top-sites.

Believe this is a cal or mag def. Didn't begin supplementing until last week (2ml organic cal-mag per gal), but they're getting it w/ every watering now. Lightening between veins on higher sites, minor rust spots on lower sites. Think I can ride this out,but wanted to hear others

I would say its more of a PK def since everything I can see your using has a high N with lower PK. worm castings are 2-0-0 ( some brands add P and K ) Stonington Blend Plant Food 5-2-4 Quoddy Blend Lobster Compost 0.6-0.3-0.2 Approx Ratio you want is(N : P : K) Veg = 3 : 2 : 1 Flower = 1 : 2 : 3 Good luck and Happy Growing

Week 6 Alright...Well, I'm pretty bummed. This being my first photo run, and w/ such great genetics, I knew I was bound to mess it up. The photographed conditions come as no major surprise, given I'm a new grower, but it's still gutting to see your plants struggling so much. **Issues** 1) Symptoms: Leaf discoloration (light green -> yellow in between leaf veins [scattered rust spots on both bottom and top locations]). 2) Diagnosis: Fellow grower's think it's either, A) Lights too intense, B) N excess, or C) PK def. I don't have a clue which one it is, but my senses tell me the lighting was too intense and there's a cal/mag def. Please chime in w/ your thoughts and/or recommended courses of action, if you have any! :) Plan-Ahead: - Lighting: I turned the LEDs down to 55% @ 21". We'll see how they respond. - Top-Soil Amendments: I added 1/2 Cup CoM Plant Food to each pot this week to ensure they're good on food. I recycled my soil this run, so I'm also a little worried I didn't have enough love in the soil to begin w/. - Compost Tea (1 Gal) on 12JUN: 1/8 Tsp humic acid, 1 TBSP molasses, 1/2 Cup earthworm castings, 1/2 Cup CoM lobster compost, and a dab of recharge. 48 hr brew. - Cal-Mag: Increased dosage to 3ml/gal organic cal-mag every watering. Again, I love hearing from other growers, so please send me your thoughts! 🙏😁 Lastly, has anyone seen any diaries that catalog a successful sick veg -> healthy flower/harvest recovery? Given the severity of issues currently on-hand, I'm curious to see how sick growth transitions to healthy growth over several weeks. ------------------- Grow Aborted. Couldn't nurse them back to health. Big let-down :-/

Has anyone seen any diaries that catalog a successful sick veg -> healthy flower recovery? I'm curious to see how sick growth transitions to healthy growth over several weeks. Current issue: a) LED intensity, b), N excess, c) PK def, or d) cal/mag def(rust on leaves top and btm)?

it's difficult to say for sure without knowing what has been fed in a higher resolution t han the info growdiaries gives. dose and initial concentration varies, so 2ml per volume doesn't paint full picture. depends on what was in the soil to start too. hopefully, their soil mix is consistent from purchase to purchase so you can gain familiarity - preempt any issue in future with decent predictability. i see potential Mg deficiency. i see what could be a blue tint to leaves which hints at a P deficiency. A toxicity of some sort could cause both. I don't see any spots to indicated a Ca deficiency, but those symptoms show up many weeks after the deficiency is occuring. Some heavy clawing which could be a sign of too much nutes in substrate, unless it was just given tons of water or limited drainage in soil causing droopiness. less than 1/3rd perlite or similar and better to be closer to 50%. almost impossible to cause overwatering droopage with good drainage. do you let it sit in waste water, if so, stop. put it down drain or toss it outside. So any variables.. any specific answer given with oveconfidence is suspect. as far as recovery -- some things heal, some do not. necrotic, rust, and other severe damage will not heal. interveinal chlorosis or paling should reverse. basically, if the plant material in question is dried up or brittle, it ain't healing. It will be healthy before these things are fixed... trending in right way means you got the equilibrium back into a safe zone. healing damage will be a longer term project for the plant, but the tox/def is gone/mitigated for that to start.
