Welcome, I'm back took a break and grew a few auto's then I've been working on this grow to get through veg. So this was germinated by paper towel method, then spouted in solo cups followed by transplanting into 5 gallon fabric pots. The grow medium took me 6 weeks to make , which I did during the auto grow. I make compost then add supplements to make a super soil that cooks for six weeks, turned daily and kept moist. At potting I add Mycco to the top third when filling. I've been feeding rain water that I add a minmal amount of micro nutrients to keeping the ppm below 300. I water plants on a butchers scale when they are 4-5 lbs light adding a half gallon so there is no runoff. Throughout the grow they amount they drink hasn't change much and I've had no problems. No transplant shock no deficiencies. The only struggle was getting started due to low humidity levels. I had some seedings fail before I cranked up the misters, luckily I got some rain at the right time which helped a lot. That's the reason 3 plants are on day 51 and the others are on day 41. Almost forgot I started a clone just to fill a space, it's in the 4x4 and is a Chemdog Millionaire Guava. Also in the 4x4 under 2 Mars Hydro SP3000's are another 2 CMG's, 2 Ghost Train Haze, and1 Phantom Cookies Domina. The 4x4 is on day 41.
The 2x4 tent is also on day 41. In it are 2 African x Princess 89 or some such also know as Cinderella. They are under 2 Mars Hydro TS 150's
The 5x3 tent is new as is the Viparspectra xs4000 new fans blah blah ...in it are the 2 Gelato OG's and a Candy Land. This is an organic grow however my tap water is like poison so I use rain water which has a ppm of 15, almost bare so I do add a small amout of micro nutrients together with organic calmag to get the ppm up around 225. With the new XS 4000 light I'm still trying to get dialed in. It's a beast that is perfect for the new 5x3, really liking it. There is a plant height consideration with this light so I LSTed from around day 18 and topped once at the start of week 4 then super croped a couple of colas that were tall. I did this on all except the Chemdog MG, those got no lst, one was topped and the other femmed. The clone will not get any training These 3 plants in the 5x3 are 12-13 inches and are getting flipped at day 51 today September 29. Fed a compost tea today that was the third tea feed so far. I'll add a flower stage top dress to the substrate next week. OK most confusing diary ever but that's because I'm to lazy to do 3 separate ones. Enjoy my watering and changing the light schedule because that about all that going to happen for a couple of months. Unless all hell breaks loose which can happen at any moment in time. Peace
Day 44, for the 2x4 and 4x4 tents, flipped both to 12 hrs today October 2nd. They will get defoliated when the lights come back on.
Day 56 for three plants and day 46 for the other seven. I'm gonna split the difference and call it day 51 for all. It's an organic grow and they are all on the same light schedule, training is over and they will all get fed or top dressed together. Last night I top dressed and watered. Moved the 3 older plants into the 4x4 to swap the 3 shortest plants into the 3x5 under the XS4000. It advertised 22-26 inces above plants in flower. I'm having to raise it to at least 32 inches above the canopy, any lower and I get light burn and canoeing. Luckily I had 3 short plants to swap out. I won't be able to grow med- tall plants in this tent unless they acclimate to this extremely bright light. I'll add some pics when the light come on tonight.
Lights on and they are stretching, the 4x4 tent is filling out nicely. The shorter plants look really happy in the 3x5 so lm thinking 28 - 34 inches is the happy medium height for bloom depending on the strain under the XS4000
Day 55 . The clone got crowded out of the 4x4. She is in the 3x5 now, fed a 4 gallon compost tea today , then topped off with 3 gallons of calmagged water. Each pot weighing 22lbs and no runoff, we're mid stretch with plenty of nutrients still in the soil. A depleted soil mix will weigh about 17 lbs. I started with pots that weighed 27 pounds wet so with 8-12 weeks and another top dress in 4 weeks they should only need the organic decomposition already available. So other than a couple of compost teas it's just calmagged water the rest of the way, ...hopefully.
OK that's it for weeks 7/8 that were all jumbled up. Hey at least I spared you 8 weeks of veg, and I think I got all caught up here in one place, close enough for me anyway.
Week 9 day 59ish stretch is almost over. 3 plants in the 4x4 are starting to stack. Did a lot of defoliation , watered and top dressed this week. Plants are really happy pictures are midday after a morning water and defoliate. Still adding a small amount of micronutes and a good dose of calmag to the rain water. 82-84° f, 50-53% rh., CO2 1300-1500ppm. I'm not pH-ing anything and have no runoff from feeding to check. So far the only deficiencies I've dealt with were caused by low humidity. The soil mix is still delivering all they need. Thinking in a couple of weeks I'll start cooking a new substrate for the next grow , a new batch of compost is almost ready.
Plants are starting to cannibalize lower leaves with about 5 weeks to go. So my soil has been depleted of nutrients or at least nitrogen, and manganese.
I reduced the light schedule to 11.5 hrs yesterday. I'm going synorganic as of 2 days ago, started liquid supplements. I'll run synorganics for 2 or 3 weeks then flush and finish out the last 2 weeks. Tonight at lights on I'll feed the compost tea that is brewing. I'll update the added nutrients as I go and start feeding to get a runoff of 10 percent for a week then top dress again. I guess I'll check the runoff and record the pH &TDS . Wish they had gone to the end just on the original organic substrate but not surprised they are depleted. 10 week of just water was really nice.
Week 11 day 79, still adding nutrients, but that's probably over maybe one more feed with synthetics then let them finish cannibalizing fan leaves. I gave organic a solid try. My soil would have been fine for an auto run, but went kaput after stretching.
Week 12 moved the clone into the 4x4 and switched it to water only. The rest of the grow will continue to be fed for a few more days. I'm hoping to get at least 8 weeks of flower before they are chopped so that's 3 more weeks. The Cany Land strain is the only plant I'm a little worried about not getting enough nutrients so it may finish up before its fully matured.
Week 13; fed mild nutrient solution every other day until tonight, starting tonight's its just water and calmag the rest of the way. In the last 2 weeks I realized I had been underwatering. I was trying to get some runoff for a pH check since I'm adding nutes and slowed up giving water a little, actually got another half gallon of water in each pot every time. So I'm feeding 7 gallons every other day for 10 pots, (25-26lbs when wet for future.) BIG Mistake to have underwatered for at least a month or 2, no doubt the yield will be considerably less than I was hoping for. My soil mix may be a little heavy and would befit from some more aeration next time. So that's it, l've done my worst, but still they live. A week or 2 of water and I'll call it good.
All good just water for the last 6 days. Next week might be the last so I'll just keep feeding water and let them digest the fan leaves. While I'm thinking of it,This is a reminder to check the dimmer switch after you do any moving of co2 bags exhaust fans etc. I had an exhaust fan go out in the new 3x5 right after I flipped it to 12 hours I caught it within an hour I had my spare fan installed. Problem solved but I remember thinking the light seems dimmer, I wrote it off to my eyes had adjusted after working in the tent and ignored it. 2 weeks later while wondering what was wrong and why were these plants not as vigorous I checked the dimmer switch on the 4000xs which is on the side panel of the light on the same side as the exhaust fan. I had apparently rubbed against it and it was on 50% so that really will knock down the yield on those 3 plants. After this grow I'll turn that light 180° so it's dimmer switch is on the end of the tent that is never disturbed.
At the beginning of the week I spotted some white mold starting on one of the Gelat Og plants in the 4x4 I treated it with a 0.5 % H2o2 spray on the affected cola, I cut out any place saw mold fiirst. I also had an African x Princess 88 in the 2x2 that was finishing early so I went ahead and harvested those 2wo plants and hung them in the 2x2 tent. The next day I spotted mold on the clone so I treated it 2 days in a row but did cut anything out as it was very minor. It's been a week and the 2 that I chopped are close to being ready for the curing process. I'm just feeding rain water now with a tds of 14, also pulling the humidity as low as I can with dehumidifiers. The remainder of the grow should finish within a week. One of the Ghost Train x Pellezzinos has buds that are pulling three colas over so I got some yoyos on them. Pics are each plant followed by one bud of that same plant.
Plants are finishing and I'm busier than a one armed paper hanger. Harvested 5 plants in the last day or 2. I've got dry weights on the 2 that were harvested 13 days ago but will wait for their sisters to come in from the wet before I post a tally. I test smoked the Gelato OG #1 and it's fucking good. Smells great too, like candy but with that diesel taste. Yummy
Made a trip to the Hydro store too, its too cold to be cooking soil for a month or more. Next grow will be in fox farms with synthetics my soil recipe would work fine for auto's but was 3 weeks short of having enough to make it to the on these photos. I tried organics for 2 or 3 grows, I don't think there is such a thing as water only seed to harvest. So back to mixing and flushing, tired of fucking around and having lesser quality and quantity.
Chopped up the Candyland, big plant I will post numbers when dry.
Last night harvested the Ghost Train x Pellezzino 2 and Gelat OG 2. Both were dipping resin. One more plant and about 4 days left in this week, that last plant is a mystery strain it might be a Phantom Cookies Domina not sure. Once the totals for dry are tallied I'll get back to updating
Wow bro. That is some DANK looking flower! Incredible yield for a five gallon bucket. Then again I'm not an indoor grower bit seeing shit like this makes me want to give it a shot!
@masterofsmeagol, it would probably be worth it that far north. It's all about: Good water, good lights, good air circulation, CO2, good substrate, good training and watering. I'm retired and spend a lot of time in the tent (probably to much). I see dwc grows where guys say they open the tent once a week, that would make me a lunatic. Word to the wise choose mold resistant strains that are advertised at 150cm height max unless you want to do manifold traing for 7-10 weeks before flipping. Just smoked a bowl and I'm rambling. Leave a couple for seed.
