Started these two seeds on 9/15 in Rapid Rooters in a seed tray under humidity dome. One seed germinated in < 24 Hrs, the other took about 48 hrs. Transplanted seed 1 to 3 gal fabric pot on day 6 and seed 2 on day 8. Humidity is on the low side inside my tent so I have them both under humidity domes. Lighting is 300W (136W actual) LED at 40% and 150W HPS. Both 30" from top of seedlings. Using distilled water until I run out of the gallon I bought.

The plant that was under the HPS was pulling toward the LED so I now have both plants under the LED on the left. I've been dealing with low relative humidity inside the tent all week (35%-40%) so I've been experimenting with different ways to bump it up to at least 45%. I tried putting bowls of water in the tent and that had no effect. I tried putting a humidifier in front of my intake filter which helped, but that was causing moisture to build up on the filter and I didn't want to deal with mold. Finally I put the humidifier inside the tent on high and that seems to be the best way to get RH up. On warmer days I've been experimenting with turning off the HPS, but need to run it most of the time since my basement is in the mid-to-high 60s.

Should I still be watering these like young seedlings (just a small amount around the plant base) or should I be adding water until there is run off now?

Hi @willistoned! Don't water to the runoff until she has become a strong adult, otherwise you will generate an over-watering situation and flood/choke the roots. Water with ~5-10% of your container's capacity for the first 3 weeks then slowly increase to ~10-20% around week 4 and later. More than 20% should give you a little drain/runoff and push the old salts out of the medium, but this shouldn't be done every day either. Hope this will help, happy growing 👊

Growth is slow, but the plants seem happy and healthy so I'm not super concerned. I bought some garden cloches* to act as humidity domes on the days when the RH is < 40%. The plants seem to perk under them so I've been leaving them on most of the day and taking them off for a few hours in the evening to let the plants get some fan breeze and air out a bit. Both plants are still directly under my LED at 60-70% brightness. The HPS has been on all week and provides a bit of side lighting, but I have it raised up at the same height as the LED to keep the temp down a little bit. * Cloches - https://www.gardeners.com/buy/medium-garden-cloches-set-of-6/8593985.html

Soil is 40% FF Ocean Forest, 30% FF Happy Frog, and 30% perlite. Growth seems slow and leaves are a bit dark so I've been avoiding any extra nutrients beyond what's in the FFOF. I have a bottle of FF Big Bloom. Are they ready for it or should I wait another week before adding?

Hello ! Well you can search across the web but you will never fing the Ocean forest NPK as it's still unknow even now , the oldest thread I saw on forum are from 2007 and still no answer until then but many growers stated that it provide enough nutrients for the 2/3 first week before you need to fertilize. Your bottle of Big bloom is useless at that point because it would not provide the good nutrients amount for that stage. You should wait until you see the 1st pistols before starting to add big bloom. I hope it will help you 😁🙌

I started seeing pistils on one of the plants on day 26 and the other plant on day 27. These plants are super short right now and only measure 6" as of this morning. I was planning to start some LST this weekend, but I may wait a few more days since they're so short. I noticed that the leaves were really drooping a few times this week. It's only happening in the late afternoon / evening and they perk up again the next morning. I did some research and it seems like this is a normal thing for plants to do before "lights out". I'm still on 20/4 so I may switch to 18/6 this week since the plants seem to be telling me that they're done with the light a few hours before it goes out. Aside from the drooping, I've also noticed the tips curling down on both plants. It looks like textbook N toxicity, but this was happening before introducing any nutrients, so maybe the low humidity is forcing them to pull too much from their roots and the FoxFarms Ocean Forest is too hot for them.

Started some LST on the plants this week. One of them is looking great, the other has some pretty gnarly leaf tip curling on all the leaves and starting to see some dark spots. I suspect it's some sort of stress from the low humidity and fans so I moved the fans so they're less direct on the plants.

It's been another great (boring?) week for my first grow. Things feel like they're dialed in now and I can finally relax and not worry about every detail. The humidity in my tent was in the low 20s despite having a good-sized humidifier running on high. I decided to get a smaller inline fan (47 cfm vs 203 cfm) and am now just exhausting directly into my basement and not using a carbon filter. The smell is noticeable outside the tent, but the environment is a solid 75℉ / 35% through the day so it seems like a good trade off. I'm planning to kick the big fan on during the last couple weeks of flowering if the plants are happy with the lower humidity. Watering every 2-3 days, and introduced Tiger Bloom to the mix at 1/4 recommended strength. Feeding every other watering, about once a week. The plants seem very happy so I will likely just keep this up until the final weeks.

Things are pretty much on auto-pilot at this point. Just watering when the pots get light and giving a light nutrient feed every other watering. The temps and humidity in the tent were a little higher this week. Running the humidifier on high has kept things in a good range, but the temps approach 80℉ when it's not running. The flowers are starting to get really frosty and smell as god as they look! 😁

The week started out with the plants showing some deficiencies. I ignored it hoping it would stop on its own with a regular feeding but it got worse as the week went on. The spotting and yellowing is affecting mostly larger fan leaves. Yesterday I did a pH-adjusted tap water flush with about 3x the pot size. The pH of the runoff didn't raise any red flags, but PPM reading was a little high in the initial runoff so I'm hoping it was just salt build up and the flush will reset things a bit. It looks like it might be a calcium deficiency, so if the flush doesn't clear things up this week, I may consider adding calmag. The buds aren't huge, but they smell amazing and are getting fatter and frostier by the day. Can't wait for my first harvest!

Out of the tap, my water is ~100 PPM. I'm feeding 1/4 of recommended FF trio + Beastie Bloomz and the PPM is ~300 going in and ~600 coming out. I'm assuming the difference is from what's in the ocean forest soil. Am I feeding enough? Should I add Cal-Mag?

you should definitely add cal mag, especially for the magnesium part of the equation. I notice some leaf cupping, doesn t look like much right now but that's bad news, you want to add something like enzymes to your mix and chelation agents like humic and fluvic acid to try to beat what I suspect is a root problem. Hope this helps ! 🚀

I think I have about three weeks until harvest, so this week has just been trying to stabilize things as much as possible. I realized way too late that I haven't had enough calcium in my tap water, and I think that has been causing some issues in late flowering. I started adding Cal-Mag+ to bring my tap water from 110 ppm to 200-250 ppm with plain watering and before adding nutrients. I think I've also been underfeeding too. The Fox Farms schedule calls for close to 2000 ppm but I had only been doing around 300 ppm. I bumped that up to 600 ppm for today's feeding, but I'll just have to be more on top of that next grow. I also added some Cannazym to address any potential root issues caused by not flushing or getting enough runoff.

Trichomes are about 90% cloudy with a few ambers on the sugar leaves and the pistils are maybe 50-60% darkened. I'm hoping to harvest in a week, but will just keep an eye on things and am shooting for about 20% amber trichs. I can't wait to get this thing on the scale after it dries. I was initially thinking it would be close to an oz, but it is TINY, so I've lowered my expectations and would be happy with a half oz. The main cola is chubby, but the rest of the buds are kinda dinky. I'll find out soon enough...

We had some really cold outdoor temps earlier this week and for a couple days, my tent got down to 55℉ at night and a high of only 68℉ during the day. It really brought out some beautiful coloring in the plants that I haven't seen in other 4AM diaries. I thought I'd be harvesting by this weekend, but the trichomes are still not as amber as I'd like. I'm thinking it will be at least a couple more days to a week before it's ready.

This was my first grow so I have nothing to compare it to, but it was successful so it gets a good review 😃. It was fun to grow such a short plant and definitely look forward to growing it again. I'm 5 days into curing the first plant and had a sample last night. It smoked great and paired well with a double IPA.

I grew two 4AM plants. The first 4AM was harvested on day 80 and the second on day 91. Plant 1 spent the entire grow under a 150W HPS and plant 2 under a 350W (136W draw) . Plant 2 got really burned at the top even though I was within the mfr's recommended distance (16-20") and I ended up putting it under the HPS for the last 10 days. Plant 1's buds are more dense and less leafy, but both plants produced > 1.5 oz each. For my first grow I'm really happy with how things turned out and am looking forward to taking the lessons I've learned and applying them to my next grow in the new year.

@CRiSPrGrow, I picked up some Cal-Mag+ and Cannazym that was recommended by the sales person. He suggested using the Cannazym next time I flush, but reading about it online, it seems I should be adding it weekly. If I just did a flush yesterday, would you recommend adding this next time I water or wait a few weeks until I flush again?

@@Athos thanks for the help! That's good to know about the 200-250 PPM target. I wish there was a way to select multiple answers since both responses give helpful information. I did add a light amount of Fox Farms Grow Big 10 days ago but only 1/4 of amount recommended by the feeding schedule I've been following - https://foxfarmfertilizer.com/images/pdf/usa-soil-schedule-english_3-2018.pdf
