January 17, 2023 Germination. This is my first time working with genetics other than ILGM. And I feel I have a really good leg up from my previous grows. January 18, 2023 Both ladies sank in their cups of water last night. Now I have them in paper towels until they show a tap root. January 19, 2023 Our ladies have popped and have beautiful tap roots. Coast of Maine Seed Starter Soil in the AC Infinity Germination Center. Germination Center Environment: Temp: 74.5° RH: 83.9% VPD: 0.47 kPa Monitored with AC Infinity Cloudcom B1 Smart Thermo-Hydrometer. January 20, 2023 Skywalker OG is ready to break surface. She has a nice soil mound coming up. Wedding Glue settled a bit deeper, I think. She's not showing signs of breaking surface yet, but I'm sure she will by the end of the day. Germination Center Environment: Temp: 76° RH: 81.7% VPD: 0.56 kPa January 21, 2023 I have a bit of an issue. My Skywalker OG popped perfect and is already out of the soil. However, Wedding Glue isn't showing signs of breaking the surface yet. This happens a lot to me. One goes and the other doesn't. I have no idea what I'm doing lol. Update: the tap root on the wedding glue broke off somehow, so another one getting popped. Germination Center Environment: Temp: 75.7° RH: 86.7% VPD: 0.40 kPa January 22, 2023 Day 1 Skywalker is doing quite well. She's growing into a nice little seedling. The second Wedding Glue sank to the bottom of the glass and is now in a wet paper towel. Germination Center Environment: Temp: 75.2° RH: 84.6% VPD: 0.46 kPa January 23, 2023 Skywalker OG is looking great! She has excellent color and is growing nice and strong. Wedding Glue germinated and popped her tap root last night. I'm going to leave her in the paper towel for the rest of the day. Don't want another broken tap root. I also have a blueberry auto from ILGM that I harvested today. Unfortunately it has to share the dark tent with the Germination Center. So I have the Center in a big cardboard box at the bottom of the tent and the branches of the Blueberry drying at the top. It seems to be fine. I may end up planting them in their final pots a little earlier than intended. It should be fine though. The grow light is set high enough for seedlings. Germination Center Environment: Temp: 78.4° RH: 79.9% VPD: 0.67 kPa Update: I decided to plant the Wedding Glue. Her tap root was starting to curl in so, in she went. Tap root safe and sound. January 24, 2023 Skywalker is looking great as ever. I've been giving her a spritz of water twice a day. Wedding Glue looks like she has a small mound forming. Hopefully I'm right and she is good to go. I ended up moving the whole Germination Center out of the dry tent and instead on top of it. The temps are just too high with no airflow. Germination Center Environment: Temp: 78° a bit high. RH: 73% VPD: 0.92 kPa January 25, 2023 So this is past a 7 day week. Unless it's based on germination date. Therefore it should be tomorrow. Anyway, wedding glue still hasn't popped. I emailed Fast Buds to see if they have any insight. Skywalker OG, on the other hand, opened up her first finger leaves yesterday afternoon. She's about 2.5" tall now and still strong as ever. Germination Center Environment: Temp: 77.1° RH: 82.4% VPD: 0.57 kPa January 26, 2023 Skywalker OG looks awesome! She is tall and stretching. Wedding Glue finally popped surface last night and is already about an inch tall. So we are now happy. Although, when the hell does this week end? Does it end? Do I have to actively add another week? I'll find out tomorrow I guess. lol. Germination Center Environment: Temp: 74.5° RH: 79.1% VPD: 0.59 kPa January 27, 2023 Skywalker needs to be planted in her final pot today. Her first finger leaves are getting wider and her roots have hit the bottom of the seedling tray... Planting success! Grow light distance is about 26" with an estimated 185 par. BTW, these AC Infinity 3 gallon fabric pots are really nice. About 2 inches taller than the other 3 gallon fabric pots. Wedding Glue looks great! Opening up nicely and looks really strong. I can't wait to see how she grows. I had to order soil because I ran out. Lol. It won't be here for a week, so hopefully wedding Glue won't need planting before then. Germination Center Environment: Temp: 74.1° RH: 80% VPD: 0.56 kPa Grow System Environment: Temp: 74.2° RH: 50.6% VPD: 1.42 kPa January 28, 2023 Neither of the ladies are in veg yet, so I'm going to keep the germination week until the first set of true leaves appear on Skywalker. Then I will start Veg. Skywalker OG looks great! She is taking well to her final pot. No issues I can see. Wedding Glue is now growing wonderfully. She will be moved to her final pot in a couple of days. I got updated shipping time for my soil. Tomorrow instead of the 3rd. Happy day for me. Grow System Environment: Temp: 74° RH: 54.2% VPD: 1.30 kPa Germination Center Environment: Temp: 79.6° RH: 80.8% VPD: 0.68 kPa January 29, 2023 So I'm seeing the first of my tribulations. Skywalker has puckering leaves. So I raised the light 2 inches to see if that fixes it. I had a feeling the light was too low for seedlings. I may have to raise it a bit more. We shall see. Wedding Glue is starting a nice stretch. She's looking good so far. Good colors, strong stem. She's going in her final pot tomorrow I think. Once I get the light in the right position, that is. Germination Center Environment: Temp: 73.3° RH: 66% VPD: 0.94 kPa Grow System Environment: Temp: 74.3° RH: 53.1% VPD: 1.36 kPa Update: I decided to plant Wedding Glue early. I'd rather her grow into the soil vs having root exposed right away. January 30, 2023 I'll be finally starting the first veg week tomorrow. No clue why it's taking so long. Everything looks good today. I raised the grow light to over 30 inches for them. It seems to be much better. Grow System Environment: Temp: 73.8° RH: 54.1% VPD: 1.30 kPa

Best to get a light meter. Photone or tentbuddy. Not sure what works on what phone but look into a meter for sure . Tentbuddy gives u outlines for veg and flower along with a VPD Calculator. It's hard to just say "lift it 24in above" the light meter will get u in the best range.

Why is my Wedding Glue Auto so short? She's healthy as can be. The issue here is that she is in day 30 with zero signs of upward growth and only 5.5" tall. Can I fix this somehow? Huge leaves though. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Look at the diary to see.

She is growing slowly.. But, I can see she's only around pushing up her 5 or so set of nodes. She will get bigger. She's just slow going atm.. had the same thing with my lemon pie and took her ages to flip. She'll put on most of her height during pre flower. Idk her traits but she looks mainly indica with her big fat leafs. Indicas grow much lower and have more girt. Sativas grow higher that have less girt. But, sometimes plants especially autos are unpredictable. Wouldnt worry about it to much. Good growing

After much research, I couldn't find anything on how to properly handle a really short plant. Does anyone have a thought about this? Or how to induce extra stretch? This is for documentation and research for this particular grow situation. Please see week 5 entries. Thanks all!

Looking for suggestions and opinions on "light defoliation". What percentage of leaves are removed during a light defoliation? This is for my short bushy Wedding Glue. Should I just remove the biggest fan leaves and call it a day? Thanks all!

No need for defol right now. You’re at a critical point you don’t want to hinder anything. You have a great even canopy. Let her be.

I'd say leave her be my guy. You need those leaves for photosynthesis. To make those nice beautiful flowers! Besides she doesn't really have an abundance of leaves from what I can see. I hope this helps.

I've always wondered this and never asked. Should all cannabis plants go through senescence? I only ask because I've only ever had 1 plant that went through it. Am I harvesting too early? Or does it even matter? These are autoflower grows.

If you're nailing the nutrition, don't do a pre-harvest flush, and the genetics don't support it, then there's a good chance you won't see senescence and there's nothing wrong with that. As long as you're happy with the trichomes on your grow, then no one can you tell it's the wrong time to harvest. There's a lot of debate about "flushing" and what it can or can't do for your plant (including a lot of recent research on this). Many top professional farms don't flush at all and as a result they see little to no senescence in their crop. That said, I always flush - probably due to habit and/or bro-science - and I do always see a "fade" as a result. I've no way or telling you if this actually improved the smoke or quality though. Latest research suggests that it doesn't really help, but that probably won't stop me doing it every harvest! 😂

I normally don't ask more than one question a week, but I believe I'm at a critical point with my wedding glue. She hasn't grown at all in the last 2 days at 14.5". I haven't defoliated yet because of stretch, but I think she's done. Should I defoliate or wait a few more days?

Another question?! Anyway, what the hell is this browning? I think it's light burn. But why is it lower too? PH? Magnesium? Nitrogen toxicity? Par: 1300 PPFD Fox Farm tiger bloom 7 ml/gal. Fish Shit 3 ml/gal. See diary for environmental conditions. Thanks for the help. Again.

That is helpful @Prilyfe13. I think we can definitely narrow it down to two things - a lack of Calcium (which matches your description of brown dots progressively getting worse and becoming more blocky), and possible light burn. If the issue is only affecting the very top of the plant nearest the light, then I believe you may have hit the nail on the head with light burn. Looking at your photo dated 19th March, the issue wasn't present in it's current form then, but I can see the sides of the leaves starting to curl up. This is THE classic light burn symptom. It begins on the sides of the leaves (rather than the tips, like nutrient burn) and then progresses inwards. But, you've obviously described a classic calcium deficiency as well, as I said... so perhaps it's six of one and half-dozen of the other! When it comes to living soil, I am certainly no expert, but my understanding is that you don't generally need to add too much in the way of nutrients as this is mostly in the soil already. Hopefully someone with more experience than me in this field will be able to help you... That said, if you don't get any more expert advice, I would probably err on the side of caution and raise/dim the lights (as you have done) and then maybe incorporate some Cal-Mag into the next few feeds, just to be sure it's getting enough. I don't think I've ever seen calcium or magnesium toxicity myself, so if you're using the small recommended doses, I can't see that it would cause any harm even if it doesn't need it. RE: Fish shit - I don't think this is the cause. So long as you're only using the recommended dosages, it should be fine. RE: an equipment list - don't even get us started or it will never end lol. All you technically need is air, water, soil and the sun... that doesn't explain why my spare room looks like the inside of Area 51's weapons testing facility. 😂 PH and TDS/EC meters are great, but I managed to grow successfully for years without them - particularly growing in soil which is much more forgiving. Its the same with basically every growing accessory I own. The main thing, to me, is managing the growing environment: keeping humidity high in veg and low in flower, keeping temps in the ideal range in the day and at night, etc. Those are the hardest things to do as you might be fighting against building itself, weather and geography etc, which are not battles that can be easily won. In future, if you want to keep your plants smaller and spread out the canopy more to avoid light burn and increase the PPFD or what would otherwise be lower branches, I would recommend that you start practicing LST or SCROG'ing, but that's more a technique than an accessory - other than the plant ties you'll need to make LST'ing easy. 😁 Good luck!

Week 10 question for Wedding Glue. I know there is a lot of controversy over trimming autoflowers. Let's say it's semi safe. She's super bushy again. Should I do another defoliation? OR wait another few days? I'm worried about timing. I have very little left. Thanks all!

Hi, I follow @LegacyMarketFarm here and on you tube. He indicated there should be final defoliation 3rd week after flowers start. This forces energy to all remaining bud sites. I did this with my plants to keep down any mold issues since I couldn't control humidity. .I will say, however, there are many different thoughts on the 3rd defoliation. Happy growing and have fun 👍

So I have a bottom feed wick system. Works great, but now my plant is dry on the bottom and seems to have slowed down to a trickle of water uptake. What does this mean? The soil is also drying out pretty quickly as well. See Diary for further details. What do I do? Thanks!

If this was my grow, I would be watering from the top since she's not taking it up from the wicking and is drying out.... the last thing you want is for your entire plant to turn crispy. Water until there's some runoff and then wait to see if the runoff is soaked back up into the pot - if it is, give more water until it stops soaking it back up and then throw away the excess... Good luck!

What do I do with this overly leafy plant? I'm pretty sure the foliage caused very airy buds and tops. What should I do here? Major defoliation before 48 hours of dark? Leave it, cut the branches off when harvested and run a dry trim or with this should I run wet trim? Thanks!

This plant is looking beautiful! I would not recommend to defoliate this late in the growing phase. Just make sure that there will be enough moving air around this plant to prevent fungals. The only advice that I can give to you for this plant is to cut down the nutrients a bit. You are giving too much. 75% from what you are giving now is more then enough till harvest.
