Day 43, grand week, OG started flowering. Outdoor temps are high right now which is pushing up the tent temp to near 30c, though plants don’t seem to be noticing. NL leaves praying to the light and looking happy as usual. Watered this morning with 1ml grow and 2ml bloom. Day 47, nice frost on the NL as buds continue to develop. See some slight clawing on some of the leaf tips so gave it a plain watering with half tsp of epsom salt as seeing obvious yellowing between veins on the other plant. OG flowering but continues to droop badly, starting to get frustrated with it.

Grow Questions

OG Kush plant is 47 days old, and won’t stop looking droopy and sad. I’ve tried raising the lights, lowering temps, increasing airflow, plain watering, nothing seems to help. The odd morning it looks perkier then droops again fairly quickly. Any ideas? (See most recent pics)

Any chance you know if the few days shes doing ok and then droops off again, is she being watered? The heavy watering or even a muddy soil thats got poor drainage can give her that droop. Otherwise the opposite can be true as well, lacking in water but once watered the leaves perk up(if its underwater it should be quickly noticeable the leaves perking up). The last possibility i can think of would be root problems, rot etc, that can cause this intense wilting and will often wilt the stems as well, making them a bit weak and bendy. I hope you can get her to the finish. P.s regarding the yellowing leaves you mentioned this week, i had all of my plants putting out discolored leaves towards the end of flowering, i think partially senescence and that i started to lower any nutrients. Happy harvesting ✌️

@Mrs_Larimar, I’ve been giving her 500ml, and 1000ml for the NL. I’ll try dropping it to 300ml and see how she responds. Thanks very much for the advice

@DinafemSeeds, Thanks! Very happy to see the turn around this plant made, really looking forward to harvest. I’m thinking end of this week or end of next week, depending how the trichomes are looking. Right now they still look a bit clear (to my untrained eyes). Will check them again Friday and made a decision 👍

Hey there Paul just a thought..i see your night temp getting very close to 60, ive heard with indoor(possibly outdoors too) this is a slightly dangerous zone to be as mildews and molds thrive at around low 60s...any chance you would want or are able to up the temps on your grow to the 65+range and maybe 70 for day? Good luck with everything the bud pics looked nice and the pistils too.

@Experimentgreen, I noticed the temps were getting a bit low myself, especially at night where it’s got very cold out lately. I’ve switched to a 24/0 light cycle and sealed up some air vents on the tent, seem to be sitting between 65-70 consistently now. Thanks for the advice! p.s. thanks also for the diagnosis tip. Nothing I’ve tried lately seems to perk it up. My current theory is it was light stress, even though I’ve raised the lights a good bit now maybe it’s been stressed beyond repair... that or root problems as you say. So hard to say, it’s disappointing but I’m going to keep trying to get her to the finish line.

Hi @paulsgrows! Well, there's obviously something wrong with your waterings. Either under-watering, or over-watering. Could you please describe your watering routine? (how many times you water each week, volume of water given, how much time it takes for the medium to dry, volume of the runoff, do you check the solution's temperature...). You must apply a wet/dry cycle, so the roots will spread, searching for water. Each phase should be pretty quick, a few hours, a day at max. Theoretically if you're dealing with a continental weather, you should water 2 to 3 times a week, and let the medium dry a bit before next watering. If your medium is really compact and remains wet for a long time, help it to dry with a fan blowing a slight continuous breeze onto the container, you can also stir the outer of the container and try to crumble the soil a bit. Hope this will help, keep us up-to-date so we can refine the diagnosis if needed, and happy growing 👊

@Stick, thanks a lot for the advice. Right now I water 1L approx every 2-3 days - when the soil feels dry up to the first knuckle. 1L in these pots doesn't seem to give much run off, though the soil doesn't seem too compacted to me, it gets fairly fluffy as soon as it dries out. I'm assuming if I added more it would start to drain out the bottom, but 1L feels like enough... This watering routine seems to suit the Northern Lights plant no problem, its just the OG that's causing issues. I gave it a good soaking on the day that the other commenter suggested underwatering, but it just drooped worse through out the day. So I think I can rule that out? Going to try giving it another day or so to fully dry out and see if that helps, that way I could rule out overwatering... Other than that I'm wondering is it light stress as raising the lights a bit seems to have perked it up a little, but it's still not looking 100% (see pics from today, day 50). Anyway thanks again for the advice, I won't mark the comment fixed just yet as like I said I'm still not certain it's watering. If you can think of anything else I should try though please let me know!

Hey Pauls, you'll see that follow a full wet dry cycle will really start to help. Sometimes the deeper part of the soil take a bit longer to dry out. The knuckle system to measure is good but the best thing you can do is lift. So you wait till the bag is dry and lift it, see how much it weighs. Then water and see how much it weighs then. When the bag is dry just lift it to see if you need a watering. Hope this helps ! 🚀

Thanks again to all who offered advice on my OG kush plant issues. I've selected the most recent answer as the resolution as I couldn't find how to close it out. The problem in the end turned out to be light stress, since moving the light up as far as it could go (55cm) it's made a comeback. Shame I didn't figure it out sooner but it's been a learning experience.

@paulsgrows, Take it as a learning experience mate 👍 This is how we learn and become better growers 👍 With new lights and equipment constantly hitting the market these products need to be tested whuc h takes a little trial and error by the community 👊 Now that the light has raised I'm sure things will improve 👌 Thank you to everyone that contributed answers to help solve this issue 👊 All the best ✌️ Mark..

@paulsgrows, it looks like to little water to me mate. They tend to go droopy when needing water/feed. Are you doing a wet/dry cycle? How often are you watering? Are you getting run-off? If so how much %? I'll help all I can buddy 👍 All the best ✌️ Mark..
