Day 36: I’m in reaction mode. My roots balled up around my air stone setup. I had a 1.5 inch pawfly air stone and a big one. It could not get the right coverage. I replaced the big one with two 1.5 air stones on a splitter. I placed them for even bubbling around the bucket. The roots unwrapped and started hanging freely again almost immediately.
I don’t know how much root death occurred but the white is coming back noticeably.
I’m going to add h2o2 to solution to rinse then refresh my bucket again to stop or stall negative organic growth that occurred.
DWC tip#6: buy your air stones in bulk.
DWC tip#7: learn about using peroxide to help with root development and health. Maybe hydro guard or bennies.
DWC tip #8: use fresh from the store RO water when watering. Fresh RO water has an electrical charge around 6.0. It settles to 7.0 after 24 hours. That means using fresh ro when you feed hits a nice range of ph levels as it settles throughout the day. RO water has NO calmag so you absolutely need to supplement that after your regular nutrient program if it hasn’t already.
When refreshing my reservoir I decided to put in brand new air stone setup as pictured. I’m questioning the power of my air pump . It’s a top fin 4000 which should be enough for one bucket. For now, I’ll see how this goes.
There was no sun for two days of this week. I’m letting her be gloomy and hopefully trick her into growing harder when it is sunny.
