I am germinating a rare auto for me. I normally stick to photos but since joining gd I have noticed fast buds heavily influence it and Thier strains are required for a lot of comps.
So here goes.
Ztrawberriez auto
Germinating in a glass of water for 24 hours first and then into a root riot plant cube. It can then be planted straight into the Coco when roots appear.
***GREAT TIP IF USING ROOT RIOT CUBES***
turn it upside down and make a hole. They are meant for trays and if not using they tend to fall over so up ending them makes em stable.
Nutrients etc are to be decided but will not be adding anything yet apart from maybe a little roots excellurator
I'm sure this is a popular strain on grow diaries so tips and pointers required
Two days to pop up and one to lose her helmet .
I will be growing in Coco/perlite in 4 gal pots
I think I will stay on the low end of the nutes. Trying a more basic simplified recipe
Thinking ,
Silica
Calmag
A+b base
Pk boost
Root stim
Not the usual 20 bottles. I went from basic to complicated and now back to basic.
I will give her a bit as a seedling before starting the veg diary dates
Well I have germinated in a root riot cube and into a small pot as I observed the tap root emerging from the bottom.
Good tip*
If using root riot cubes , turn them upside down and make a hole and use them this way.
They will stand stable like a pyramid and not fall over all the time.
I am going to transplant to a bigger pot and it is against my usual way of not transplanting autos but , in the name of research I will see what impact this will have.
My aim is to make sure it's a smooth transplant. I will do this by filling a bigger pot up with Coco and having the smaller pot inside so when I take it out of her small pot , she will just slide straight in will no disturbance of the root ball.
A week in and she is doing ok. Going in her final pot tomorrow
Up potted to 20l fabric.
Day 12 photo looks very droopy due to being left out of the tent most of her day. Within hours of returning to the tent following transplant she perked up and is now praying.
I'm not certain on training yet. I will either do a little lst or just leave her to grow her natural shape. I know I will lose yield but I'm not concerned. I don't think I have ever just let one grow. I always top and train but I am usually growing photoperiods.
It's day 22 from sprout and clearly still in veg.
I am looking out for the growth tips to turn a tell-tale lime green as she directs her energy there.
No signs of any nutrient burn so I may increase the base from 50% to 75%
Coming up to the end of week 4. No sign of flowering yet.
So far her growing style is quite lanky. I do grow mostly Indica dominant, which normally grow very short and stocky. One other plant in veg for example is only maybe 6" from the Coco but has several tops trained to be level and has a diameter of 18-24". This auto I think is sativa dominant and it shows with large internodal spacing. Like 12" tall but only 2 sets of lower branches. It has more nodes but a good 3-4" between them. I have bent her over in an effort to get some sort of canopy. I'm inexperienced with autos and also with sativa dominant cultivars so I should learn a few lessons with this one
Well she is 30 days since sprout and I think maybe entering the bloom stage.
I will start with my week 1 bloom nutes.
Ghe/ta novamax bloom is arriving anyday now.
I will wait till the flowers set before a PK booster is used.
She is looking ok. Showing definite sativa characteristics being quite lanky. Her buds are forming lovely now too. I have been bending the main stem down so the secondary branches could catch up which they have.
She is now in the 4th week of flower since I guessed a start/flip day.
She's looking really good. The buds are taking shape and look very promising. The pistils are starting to look a more red colour which pleases me.
I don't usually grow both autos or sativas but this plant has changed my mind. I can only go on how she is in her fourth week but in comparison to other autos I've grown she will smash all of them!!
Her sativa traits are evident with long lanky branches, large internodal spaces and (not many) thin fingered leaves. I think this one will have a high bud to lead ratio.
She is looking great. Her bud formation is conical. Hats off to #fastbuds as this is head and shoulders above all other autos I have grown. I have a strawberry banana which I will do after this one is down. Highly recommend
She is nearly 10 week from seed and I would think another 2 left.
I am not very experienced with autos and I'm unsure on flower time. She has shown sativa traits but has been quite rapid in flower. In theory she is only in week six . Can't wait to try it.
I have a strawberry banana that I have dropped in water just now to follow her
She's about ready. I am just waiting for the trichomes to turn amber then I will chop her.
What a fabulous plant she is. I highly recommend this strain.
One complaint that has become ever clearer are the emergence of foxtails. I don't like em. I have lowered her dli and will chop as soon as I'm happy with the trichomes
This auto had me change the way I thought about them after my limited yet disappointing experience.
She ended up with these accolades so far.
* Better bud to leaf ratio
* Taller
* Bigger buds
* Faster than ANY other plant I've grown be that either autos or photos .
The trichomes were bigger and more bulbous than I'm used to.
The yield is still to be obtained and a smoke report will be done after drying and a bit of cure.
FAST BUDS for the WIN 💚
Amazing harvest buddy - buds looking super dense and frosty Did you already smoke some?
Really good job - well done!!
Cheers, Bud Boutique
Nice job! Have you had a chance to try any out yet? Got mine cured and of course I am loving it which makes all my problems with that grow just so much worse! BTW, I am just now starting another grow with Coco for the first time after seeing how amazing your plant looked next to mine.
@SkunkleDamo, thank you for the tips and offer of help. I very well might be calling on you more. Ztrawberries in coco blew mine away in soil. I just planted a purple lemonade and banana purple punch this week. Fingers crossed!!! I will keep an eye on your strawberry banana as I have those seeds to plant too. Great taste!
@CannaMom2, I've smoked it all lol but it was a beauty. I have a strawberry banana and that is doing as good.
I'd recommend Coco all day. Growth is quicker, not as quick as dwc, which is cheaper and easier than you would think. Just swot up on growing in Coco as it's different to soil. You should water more than once day but I don't. I do every other day and you must feed every watering. Make sure to get Coco specific nutrients and some calmag. Also get good quality Coco and consider pretreatment of calmag water before planting in it. Just a few tips to help you on your way and anything I can help with I'd be happy to oblige
@DoubleDsTrees,
Yeah it did come quick. It is hung up but when I saw all trikes had turned cloudy and starting to amber I was happy she was where I want her. The buds do look like another week would have helped. She is sativa Dom so the buds aren't as firm but very frosty.
