Finally back to growing! With the collection of strains, I decided on growing Gelato (MSNL), Acid (Paradise Seeds), and Wonder Woman (Nirvana). Check out y other diaries to see. I'll be using my QB304s for veg then 300W DIY COBs to bloom.
Soaked the seeds overnight then placed into soil. 5 of 5 germinated but after a few days I got rid of 1 just because it wasn't keeping up with the others.
Good progress with regular tap water. This week we added Real Growers Recharge to the feed. Feeding is 2 times per week and will be transplanting within the next couple of weeks. Then top and scrog will be setup 👍
Not much to report this week. Next week should get a little bit more action. Looks like we should be able to transfer them in their final 5 gal. fabric pot and start the adding nutrients to the feed. Once transferred they'll be topped and LST will commence.
Tranplant to 3 gallon fabric pots. Keeping only 3 of the 4. Removed lower growth and will be topped this week. They are responding well with the bigger pot and nutrients. Nothing out of the ordinary, so far so good. Need to lace up my screen soon. 💪
Got busy with the Gelato this week with a few changes. Added Fox Farms Grow Big to the feed, toped , LST, and defoliated. Out of the 3 gelato growing, I took a clone of the biggest and fastest growing.
I mentioned that this will be a SROG grow but it doesn't look like the new flower area will be ready by then. We'll just have to wait and see.
Focusing on training this week. Maintain level canopy by LST and HST. Will continue defoliating here and there up to 2-3 weeks into flower. You can see the difference in growth between the three. Feed will be tweaked next week in preparation for flowering.
Switched to bloom this week and changed the feed. Minor tweaks to the branches to keep the canopy level. Defoliate to get more light to the lower bud sites. Everything is looking pretty good, can't wait to see her flower. These Gelatos get real bushy so I expect to continue defoliating for the next couple of weeks.
Last week I did a pre flowering defoliation and plants responded real well. Started to get bushy again and had to do another defoliation session as expected. Most likely I will have to do another session this week. After that, minor changes to to the feed. Buds should start developing and stack up in the next several weeks 😀
These Gelatos stretch a lot during flower! I hope that is it because I'll be running out of vertical space. Might have to change the way I hang my lights if she stretches any more. I did a major defoliation this week, more than I usually do. Not sure if I went overboard but we'll just have to wait and see how she flowers. Buds are developing pretty well and I expect them to stack up nicely.
At week 4 these ladies are still stretching and I've officially ran out of vertical space. I'm just trying to make the best out of it by positioning the lights away from the tallest colas. No signs of light burn at least not yet. Looks like they should have fat colas, bigger than my Durban Poison grow. I'm kinda bummed that I wasn't able to control them with the LST. Should of scrogged them and flowered sooner. If I grow these again, they'll be vegged for only 4-5 weeks.
Another week has gone by, another week closer to harvest. Buds are stacking up and resin production is on point. Flowers have this sweet aroma to them. These plants are getting real thirsty, watering about every 3 days. Alternating ph'd water and nutrients to prevent any burns.
This week went by pretty quick and these Gelatos are looking good. The buds are getting frosty, smell is getting stronger, and pistils are turning color. They are drinking a lot more so I'm just alternating nutes and ph'd water. I need to start keeping an eye on the trichomes 😉
Everything looking good. Some plants are already showing some signs of fading and trichomes getting milky. Last few pictures is my favorite pheno of this batch. Too bad that that was the one given a 1 gallon pot to grow in since it was a slow grower in the beginning. Total of 4 gelatos all are pretty much different stages of flowering. This kinda works out for me since harvest would be staggered and trimming wouldn't be all at once👌
I had a total of 4 seeds germinate but planned on keeping only 3. The extra was put in a 1 gallon pot which is what you see in the first few pictures. She got chopped down and hung up to dry. It's the luck of draw that she was the most beautiful one out of the bunch.
All the gelato I got are expressing different phenotypes. Pictures are labeled 1-3 showing the variation.
The ladies are getting flushed with just ph'd tap water until they get harvested in the upcoming week or so.
Plants are fading which is a good indication that the flushing is working. Over the past couple of weeks they still put on a little bit more weight. They might have to go up to week 10 of flower before harvest.
3 plants and all different phenotypes. Looking forward to tasting them all 😉
Out of the 3 Gelatos in 3gal fabric pots. 2 of them are already hanging up to dry. I'm just giving the last one a few more days to mature before the chop! See last weeks diary to compare the 3 different phenotypes. They all put on decent weight on them but nothing massive. Check back next week for the harvest 👌
Great grow with this strain. 100% germination rate to harvest no issues. All 3 plants expressed different phenotypes... who does't like variety. On the flip side, you'd expect that the strain would be pretty stable if they're selling for a premium.
This grow was pretty straight forward. 100% germination rate and didn't run into any issues. All 3 plants expressed different phenotypes and finished flowering at different times. That worked out since trimming was staggered. I waited to update this diary until I had dried and trimmed all buds.
Final numbers...
plant #1 70g
plant #2 62
plant #3 34
combined sugar leaves + larfy buds trim pile 58g
Total came out to a decent 8oz.
Smokes very smooth and effects leaning more on the sativa side for plant #1. I'll be trying 2 & 3 pretty soon 😉
The hard part now is selecting my next strain to grow.
@Captain_7, Only 1 of 3 is huge. I took a cut from that one. We'll have to wait and see how she flowers. Oh yeah, and the most important thing is how she smokes 😁
