This week, started using Advanced Nutrients: micro, grow, bloom. A few days after I first used, leaves are starting to yellow at the bottom of all plants. This is a concern for me, each day there are more and more and they are starting to fall off. Will monitor and also test the pH. Wishing I would have used bigger pots...next grow

Grow Questions

Can I trim/cut some of the bigger leaves close to the main stem (obviously, the leaves closer to the top that are not forming any buds and just casting shadows) to allow the lower buds to get more light? I am trying to maximize light exposure to hopefully increase my yield.

Buds. Not fattening

Hey there so I feel like defoliation is almost always a good thing. Any way that you can open up the Bud sites to light is good. But there's a fine line between taking too much leaves and them not being able to do their photosynthetic processes. I didnt defoliate and im seriously regretting it. So defoliate some, evaluate your work, then defoliate a touch more if needed. But always leave enough leaves for the plant to perform its duties. Also the hardest thing is to be patient and for me I don't feel like my buds really began to fat in and really bulk up until they had been flowering for at least like 4 -6 weeks. Keep up the great work. Happy flowering. ✌️

I was having an issue with extremely high humidity until recently, the average % as of late has been around 52-58%. What is the optimum humidity level for my buds and if its is lower should I purchase a dehumidifier?

Hey Gro so if you can stay at the 50s range that can work, especially with good ventilation. Keep the air moving around the buds the best you can. I think having a dehumidifier around is always good...i think around this time i see em on sale/clearance at the local target for like 10-25 bucks, not bad price for a back up solution. I feel like i hear lower H levels can help with either terpene or trichrome productions...so one way or another less H during flowering is better than too much. Dont give up and keep the air flowing, ive learned cannabis is one tough ass plant and can battle a lot of problems. ✌️💚

So after doing some research I believe my yellowing problem is due to nutrient burn. I gave my plants too much nutrients in the early stages of flowering. Lesson learned...😳

I appreciate all the feedback. I know I am early in the flowering stage, I just wanted to know because it seemed like it would help get more light to the lower buds. Thanks for letting me know it can be done. I will cut back some of the huge leaves later on in the flowering process. I have my plants in 1 gallon felt pots, should I consider bigger for my next grow? Should I consider transitioning now?

@Gromatic,Not cool at all bro ! Can you take some pictures with natural light and some of the yellow leaves to help the community to make a diagnosis 😀 thank you bro 👍

@OutForReal, Yea, I am well into the stretch now. I am having an issue with the lower leaves yellowing on each of my 7 plants. Each day there are more leaves ever since I started using different nutes. (Advanced nutrients: micro, grow, bloom)

Hey cross...i saw you trying to do a good flush to help push those time released outta there, i think this was a great idea. Ive heard of people doing that as well as adding saw dust to soil so the nitrogen goes after that instead of your plants. I hope it all works out. I listened to a soil guy on the cannabis cultivation and science podcast and he mentions certain elements that counteracts various nutrients. Maybe worth a listen depending on how much longer you have to go? ✌️

@Gromatic, hey thats good the c.s was able to give some advice. The sawdust tip i came across while searching methods of naturally counteracting an abundance of various nutrients...how to somehow direct them else where or onto something besides your plant or roots. The podcast ive been listening to is called The Kis Organics cannabis cultivation and science podcast. It has everything from soil experts/bug experts/and just general master growers or the dispensary guys talking business. I found out a variety of things i never knew. Kis organics is on Instagram or you can google the podcast and itll give a few ways to listen. Ive always been a reader...but its cool listening to grow situations and talks while you're trimming or whenever you got free time. ✌️

@Experimentgreen, thanks, I did my best with the flush, I ended up flushing all the pants just to try to reset. Spoke to customer service at Advanced Nutrients and they stated that the nutrients are locked in pretty good but flush couldn't hurt. What site were you listening to?

@Gromatic, great choice of answerer 👌 keep that humidity as low as possible, but you're good around 50% if you can't 🚀

@CRiSPrGrow,thanks for stopping by. I thought I did select an answer but obviously I did not. I have no idea what strain it is, I just know its in the purple family. I knew that when I planted them. I am looking forward to the fattening as well.😃

For Sure you can do it with every Plant. Be kind and let enough leaves so the plant can do Photosynthesis. I pick away only the Leaves who block the LIght to the Flowers. Budforming will take Time she is in the very beginning. Budbuilding goes Hand in Hand together.. Its a collaberation between POtsize (ROOTS) LIGHT and TIME... and NUtrients.. al things are important. At first POtsize...only healthy ad good and enough roots give you the Chance to get Good Flowers. The Biger your Pot is the more ROOTS, the more Flowers. TIME... budbuilding takes 6-8 weeks... here is Patience the Key. LIGHT.. only enough and a good light ( as near as Possible to the Sunlight) In a fullspectrum gives you a good Flowering. And in the End Nutrients.......Zhe plants need in the transition to flower one more time A nutoent mix. with Nitrogen for the stretching she does. And after stretching she needs less nitrogen but alot of Phosphorus ( in every Blooming-Fertiliser). Ok that was just a shortcut, for further questions feel free to ask per PM

Hi @Gromatic! You got it, go ahead! But do it slightly and only remove 3-4 leaves at a time. Also remember that after the stretch has ended, your plant won't produce new leaves anymore. Happy growing 👊

Yes, I will do so tonight during my light cycle. Thx...I also think I am going to take a chance a transition one of my plants to a bigger pot. Trying not to panic but the discoloration is climbing higher and higher. 🤬🤬
