Set up and ready to fire it off. Just waiting on my ph kit before I start. I live in a very rural area so have to order everything. Custom built 3 x 4 x 8 box. Needed the extra height for this huge grow light I am using for veg and flower... need about 36 inches from canopy. Lol. Feel free to critisize. I am a new grower. Just wanna grow some quality medicine.

Well it is started. I. At 1/4 nute strength. Did not put rapidstart in yet. Idk why I listed it. Will wait until they are at least 2 weeks above the plug. Have six down and will pick the best 2 to run. Waiting waiting waiting.

So I guestimated the ml amounts on the list above. Just what was suggested on the box minus 25% except used full strength floramicro. Been an anxious week. Reservoir is changed with about 2 inches of clearance between the 12 gallons of water solution and the bottom of the net pots. I now understand about the bubbles popping. Didnt realize they would be so agro. Awesome. Didnt get pics like a dummy but the roots are about 1/4 of an inch out of the bottom of the pots. Just one main taproot from each pot. They should do something this week. Thank you to everyone that lent me advice. I know I can ne annoying but your help is greatly appriciated..!!!

It has been soooo stressful this week. I donated 2 to my friend and one is about to go so I only have the two pictured. Growing fast and strong. Just now seeing the 4th set of leaves develope. Yesterday I noticed the roots are turning brown but the plants have no symptoms of root rot. I changed my reservoir and coated it entirely with foil and taped up all possiblelight leaks. Upped my hydroguard dose and lowered the temp in my grow room to average in the upper 70s. Today I noticed These babies, (Raelynn and Raeline), are growing voraciously and are not showing any signs of root rot at all. There is no bad smells from the res and no physical signs. Idk. Baffled and hoping it is just nute stain. When changing the reservoir I did not scrub as I did not want to loose the good bacteria I have cultured. Fi gets crossed because if all goes well will be starting my Nebula Haze's Manifolding technique along with some LST. Open to advice and comments please... Not sure why the nute levels are off so badly.... see pic to see actual levels... I input the correct amount but when I save I get crazy numbers. Lol sorry

This wea a stressful week. I chopped them up. But seeing them not slow down at all growth wise is amazing. These girls are tough. I am seeing super rapid growth. I wanted to wait until they were a little bigger to take the fan leaves and start training but they are starting to get fat. Like stalks and stems are exploding so I may need to start today.

Alot has happened this week. If you scroll through the pics they are from today back. They stalled for a couple days after taking the fan leaves should have waited a few more days. But after that stall, man alive they are BUSHING out everywhere. Nodes are super tight still not as bad as before but still stacking on their shoulders. They have 5 pair of nodes on each side already and just bushy as hell. Fear to do damage by defoliating too soon. I am not going to raise my light anymore to force stretch, but it would ease my mind to see at least an inch between the nodes verses the 1/4 inch spacing that exists as of now. Need to finish my manifold bit want to let them get bigger before I do that....

Well all is well. Just waiting for them to start their dance. Here are the pics for this week. Some of my oldest fan leaves are looking pretty bad but overall they look great. Their roots are MASSIVE! Stalks are about 1.5 maybe 2 inches in diameter. New growth is taking over the canopy. Everything looks like I am gonna have a nice flat canopy. Just damn, they are bushy. I upped their nute solution to 3/4 of what the schedule says and they seem to love it. The very next day the fan leaves started to spread out and stand straight out instead of resting on each other. I have a feeling that I am about to see alot od growth over the next couple weeks. It is looking like I am not going to be able to start flowering for that long, but that's fine. If that's what they want then that's what they will get. They are the boss. Lol. I just wanted to say that I am happy to have so much support from the community here. Awesome place to start my roots. I have referred a couple of my friends that are in my shoes. Thank you to everyone!!!

No nutes. Gonna flush these girls for a couple days. Then go back to 65% solution. Had alot happen this week. I defoliated them, accidentally broke off a main tip!!! While checking ph. Sucks. 2 days after defol, they boomed. Now they are just bushy as hell. Want to wait at least 2 more days to defol again. But they are definately bushy. Lol. Getting big. I have 8 nodes on each growth tip, one is crazy has a double node so now I have 9 mains on one plant and 7 on the other. Crazy growth right now. I mean crazy. Visited my buddy and his plants are close to the same age as mine almost same setup only he is using a 1000w HPS. His plants are budding and are 42 inches tall!. He doesnt have near the nodes as me and his nodes are spaced 2 to 4 inches apart. Same strain!!!! He has the 4 other babies I donated to him. Dwc and nutes same. IDK. I think it is my light. I mean to say my light is a Bad Boy Comercial light so IDK. I am not even in Flower yet. Wanna wait another week before I switch. They just dont feel like they are ready to flower yet. I do have my first pistol showing. Sweet. Love it!!!!

Well here are this weeks pics of the Girls. They are getting so big. I have been defoling 4 or 5 of the bigger fan leaves every other day and cannot keep up with the growth. If you move ANY leaf there is baby leaves under there just waving at me. I will probably start flower this week. PS, flushing these babies is the key. Prior to flushing I thought they grew rapidly, but afterwards they went CRAZY! I am having trouble keeping up. Will probably do a 20% defol today then wait for them to recover then switch to flower.

Okay, flowering as of today, 12/1/18. Trimmed them up and changed the reservoir and set the timer. Also did a quick run through to ensure I have no light leaks. I am good to go I think. Vegitation is sooo thick. So many budsite. Crazy... The pics are after a pretty heavy defol. At least 20%

Per defol, is it true the less budsites you leave after defoliation,(cutting smaller budsites and stems), the bigger and better your buds get and increased harvest weight? It seems like reverse to me...

hey man yes, basically for defoliation people over do it on the leaves which leaves the plant with less tools to absorb the light energy for photosynthesis. bad leaf defoliation can hurt yield, increase time to harvest, that sort of thing.... however pruning the flower nodes especially the little flower nodes that are located down the branch that will stay small, the so called popcorn bud, if you remove them early enough in flower , then this will force the plant to send the energy to the upper flower sites and these will get fatter, actually improving the yield. I hope this helps my friend ! i will follow and see how it works out for you ! 🚀

Growing. Their stems finally got long enough to do some better LST. so I did end up trimming about 8 leaves, but they had to go. other than that I am letting them do their thing. I like how I was able to open them up for air flow. they definately like their nutes. PH kept dropping and PPM eas down also. right now everything looks good. Fresh solution change and now they are good to go. 12/11 Well trellis is up please dont judge too hard. Lol. First time and I made it from scratch. Just a simple net and I stapled it to the studs. I can really see all of the budsites now. I will defol them this weekend. They have gotten massive since Saturday. That's only 3 days. They have pretty much filled up the bottom of my growbox. Stunned...

This weeks pics from today back for the past week. I did a pretty decent defoliation on them Wednesdayish and you couldnt even tell by Friday. They are growingso fast and bushy. Nodes are so close together that vegitation is thick as hell. I have been watching closely for flowers. I am starting to see them start. Prettyexciting stuff happening! 😀

This week was a walk in the park. Just feed them a gallon a day of solution and they are happy. I have noticed they like that I have stopped tucking and training. They are stretching but not as fast as I would like to see. I think the trellis is useless. No trimming at all this week and they are happy with that too. Seems like they stop stretching if I trim anything. So I am probably going to remove the trellis and let them do their thing. I definalely let them Veg way too long. So now they are bushy little munsters and I dont think there is anything I can do about that now. They are definately showing off their Indica Phenotypes right now. Hope to see a little more of the sativa characteristics soon. Like to see some daytime meds but either way I am stoked they are flowering and smell great when I open the box. Stoked with how they have turned out, but I will not let them beg that long again. Lol. 12/24 Edit... Stretching for all they are worth. Almost tall enough to lollipop. Just not sure if that is the righ move. Flowers are forming nicely. I count 72 flowers . That is too many for my grow space!!!! Any advice??? Edit 12/26 So it is getting so late into flower that I was nervous of waiting too long. Maybe already have but here goes. They look Great IMHO. Gonna keep an eye on them really close. Hopefully everything is gonna be fine. They are voracious as it is anyway.... 🤯😨😳

STRETCH!!!! They are stretching and drinking. I didn't even get a stall from that heavy defol Sunday. They just kept right on trucking along. Preflowers/pistols look to have a purplish tint on Raeline. Raelynn has creamy ones. Interested to see this showdown in Flower mode! Raeline is growing up and Raelynn is growing out. They are hungry that's for sure. I finally got my EC pen in and have their EC set right.

Man, I have been fighting foliage. They have stretched alot this week. Doesnt seem like the stretching is slowing down at all. Counted 72 budsites. That's what's on top. Lots more just below the canopy. Finally starting to see some good bud formation. 👽

Super cool week Chilling with the ladies. They were my comfort this week during the storm. They are doing their thing for sure. I am mostly worried about keeping them separated. Starting to have to tie more and more away from each other. Their growth is crazy. I think they are done shooting out new leaves. Seems like the canopy is starting to thin out a little and now I am able to see which buds need to be tied where to keep them from sticking to the ether. Super sticky. Super smelly. I can only imagine what they are gonna taste like after my cure. Think they are coming along nicely. Was definately a great idea to switch lights. They love the blurple light. Giant Thank you to all that has helped my first grow be so successful up to this point. Really happy I found this community... Hope everything is going alrite and their ladies are good.... Edit 1/13/19 So I found out that taking pictures with a clip on microscope is not so easy... lol...

Not sure what happened yesterday with my update. It updated over week 17... Anyway this week went great until I ran into a situation that forced me to regime my babies for a couple days. I wont include my local drama. LOL They are in a 5x5 Growlab and let me just say. I Love It. Dont k ow about the plastic corners but the tent itself is nice. Zippers and everything. I got in there and had the wife beam my grow light at the tent checking for leaks. Nothing.... just saying. Nice for the price... The girls are starting to spread out nicely. They enjoy the extra space and are happy with the air circulation. Probably still a week and a half or so. About 10(ish) days. 8 or so from my flush. That's my prediction looking at all these other Moby Dick Diaries... Hope a is well in the growing world!!!

This week was just a fight to balance ph levels. They went up then they go down then visa versa. They are getting close. Just now started the flush last night. I already see yellowing leaves here and there. Nothing major, just baby spots here and there. Probably a couple more days and I will cut them down. Kinda mixed about it, but then again I get to start all over and maybe even outgrow these babies. I am ready to see how they smoke. Beautiful to me. They are frosty...

My very first grow. Ended up with 835 grams!!!! (EDIT!!! THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO SAY 235 GRAMS!!! SORRY FOR THE MISTAKE. JUST SAW IT...)Super happy with the yeild but also there is something else hidden in these green little nugs. Might be coke or something. Lmao. Seriously great taste, better than any i see in the dispensaries. Smell is dank as well. Just a bud on its own. Never had nugs taste sweet and diesel like both at the same time. Tasts like spring time lol. Totally in love with it. Deffinately a daytime smoke. Few hits and it comes on strong, that urge to go do something. Dishes, the shed, my tool box. Lol anything. Feels amazing. Happy stone. Very social weed. Easy to grow, i should have vegged for a shorter time but i am new and there is a learning curve. My next grow is gonna be massive. I will post some pics of my Veg room. Its almost ready. Working on my flower room now. Cant wait until I get to see what their sisters that I stored gets to pop. Will probably start germinating tomorrow. Not going to manifold this time. Just doing the scrog thing this time... They like the jars just saying. Been burping them every day now for 3 days. Will continue for another 4ish then burp once a week. Pretty happy with my grow. Those little hygrometers are awesome!!!!

Update. They have slowed down a little. Probably seeing the effects of if the defoilation I did. Little worried, but I'm sure they will be fine. Just a nervous dad here. Lol. I was seeing massive growth but seems to have slowed alot. Still grew a little, just expected to see her new branches grow out some. But no, she is popping out nodes like none other. Already has 2.5 nodes brushing out fighting to see who can be the shortest. Lol. Like really close. Idk. I hear that you want right mode spacing but damn, seems like they are just dwarfs. Seriously like maybe 1/8 of an inch between nodes. Anyone else?

@Mrs_Larimar, Yes you are right. I just get so over impatient when I see them grow so fast. I will wait until next week before clipping anything else. Just focus on training for now. And I dont think I will let my manifold fo 3 nodes on each side. If she continues to show growth like she does now I will be over run. I only have 4x3x 8 total and with light restrictions I can probly let them get as high as 5 feet safely and that is with my light all the way up. Thank you for your direction. Have a great one!!!!

@Mrs_Larimar, it worked!!! You were right. My babies are now 8 inches tall and grew 3 inches since raising the light !!! At this rate you are hitting the nail on the head. I already removed the second nodes on one of them and she is doing great. Like really great. It seems to have helped her make room new growth. This evening I will take the second nodes from the other plant and wait 2 days and top the ends of my manifold. So excited. Hell might just cut the 4th set of nodes and top the 8th. That would give me 12 main colas on each plant since they are portraying such strong Indica traits. Especially for such a Sativa dominate strain. Wow. Thank you so much for your help.

Soooo, looking at the structure of these girls. It looks to me like Raelynn is going to keep her Indica dominate traits and Raeline is going to go for the taller Sativa dominant traits of their phenotype. That is pretty exciting! Opened the box this morning and Raelynn is still the same height where Raeline decided she wants to be almost 4 inches closer to the light!!!! Raelynn has way bigger buds than Raeline's, but Raeline is still stretching. Guess we will have to just kick back and watch to see where this goes. Lol.

So these gals are stretching out finally and I have way more budsites than I anticipated. I think I need to lollypopthese girls now they have some height. Probably wait until Saturday. Drinking up a gallon and a half now. I need to get more nutes. Just popped the top on my last 3 quarts of the flora trio. Will get them this week after Christmas. Does anyone have experience with jungle trimming this late in flower???? Merry Christmas!!!! 🎅

I have 16 budsites. One plant has a mutation and grew a double site! So there are 9 on that one. The other I had an accident with a yardstick while checking ph levels and it smooth chopped off one of the mains at the stall! Sad day. LST has helped some but not alot up to now. When they start stretching I hope to be able to tame some of this wildness. Should be able to as long as I stay on top of it... Thanks man for the warm comments.... getting excited....

So changed our flush water for medium strength nutes last night and they are doing great. Looks like they liked the flush. I believe I am going to start changing their reservoir every 3ish days moving forward for a few weeks and see how they like that. Their stalks now measure 1.25 inches in diameter. Looks crazy because of how short they are. I have a few pistols showing themselves on both of these girls. Awesome. Things are happening...

My friend, you are battling a losing cause. The plants WILL take over. You will obey!😱 I suppose as long as the main bud sites, and their stalks, are exposed to the light, you don't have to worry about all that foliage. Maybe leaving it alone is best. You are getting a little more stretch. That is good. It's a shame your plant is so damn healthy!😄
Quexos
Quexoscommented6 years ago
@OkieJim, Ideally you are supposed to lollipop them, but there has been too much growth. Luckily they will stop producing leaves in the next few weeks. Maybe then you can slowly contain that amazing jungle.
OkieJim
OkieJimcommented6 years ago
@Quexos, Thank you for the kind words. That is just it. If they didnt seem so healthy I would try something different. I KNOW THERE IS A JUNGLE IN THERE just scare 3d to do anything about it in case I do see some stretch and so forth. I will wait another week and see what they do. Then I will decide what direction to go. Want to lollipop them but I feel like that is the wrong way to go. IDK....

Ok, I wanted to say one more thing...I think you should only grow 2 plants in there at most. And my last piece of advice, get those nutrients and when you do get some hydroguard for your basin to help battle pythium. Ok, done with the rant.
BeefWellingtons
BeefWellingtonscommentedweek 16 years ago
Ok, a couple of things; 1. Cover the empty pots with tin foil, as they tend to allow dead foliage and light into the basin. 2. Make sure you have about 1 cm of space under your netpots, so bubbles break and splash up under them. 3. Keep an eye on your ph and try to obtain 5.8 ph every day. 4. Don't give them nutes til you see 3rd set of leaves. 4. Go easy on the the nutes at 1/4 strength at first. Good luck with your grow, ask questions if you need help. Update: I guess don't use tin foil cause it can burn the plants, cover with something less reflective, but that still blocks out the light.

Take a look at the Maxlite PhotonMax. It comes in a 600w and a 1200w. Yours might be the 600w. It looks pretty similar. There is a PDF file on their website.

And not to mention lots of cash. Blessed man here bro. I will upload more budshots tomorrow when I let them breathe. Peace man... i plan on starting a diary with my big grow. Hopefully I can get close to 180 plants down. But I only have 30 HPS lights and a few others. Hoping to flower 6 under each light in a grid. Wish me luck.... I really appriciate all of your guidance and support brother. Its been an awesome road.... if your ever in Oklahoma.... just sayin.... lol

LoL, you whacked them up good in that last/first photo! There was no way your were going to hurt them though. Those plants are far to healthy. You are going to top them one more time for the manifold then flip to flower? Are you supposed to let them grow out a few nodes then cut them back like the main topping?

Flushing. Knew I need to do it, just been too busy doing other stuff to consider how to flush them. Probably gonna wait till they start fading yellow. Or my trics?

@OkieJim, This time you got alot of leaves, I am not throwing the leaves away. They have Healthy-benefits. i put them into freezer for storage, and if i want to do some smoothies i put them into the blender. I also made "Green -gin", and infused redwine with " raw" green leaves. Its not quite psyhoactive but you have all the " goodies" and benefits out of the plant without a big high. You can stack up the benefits that way

Ph keeps dropping cause they are drinking up. It means you are doing stuff right, even though its frustrating to keep on that ph level.

@DinafemSeeds, thank you for dropping by. That is what I am hoping for. I am starting to look at the trichromes now. Little harder to hold my hand steady enough to take a good pic with this microscope, but I will learn. Lol. I have seen a drastic change since I changed lights for sure. These babies are amazing. I put them through some heavy trials and they came through like champs!!!

@OkieJim, With that extra light that will take your grow to another level 👍 Considering this is your first grow your doing fantastic with our Moby dick 👊 Going of the pictures I would say another 21 days remaining. Would you agree my friend? All the best ✌️ Mark..

@DinafemSeeds, Yes I see that now. I just invested in a quad quantum board setup. Gonna be pushing close to 1000w. I keep looking back and seeing what I am going to do differently. Just got my Purple Moby Dick deeds today.cant wait to start my next grow. I am going to run 8 plants in my new build. Thank you Mark!!! Super excited

The girls are looking great! Are you starting to check trichomes yet? They still have several weeks left, but you might as well get into the habit of checking them periodically. That way you will get the experience of looking for them and gauging whether they are getting close to harvest. It will also give you some ideas as to when to stop feeding, and when to start flushing.
OkieJim
OkieJimcommented6 years ago
@DinafemSeeds, awesome. I just updated these girls. I will probably stop feeding them in a couple days now. Got a little amber showing and they smell dank as dank can be!!! Gonna start flushing soon. Thanks for stopping by man!!!
DinafemSeeds
DinafemSeedscommented6 years ago
@OkieJim, They look fantastic mate and you can see they are really starting to pack on that weight 👊 By the look of things they still have around 21 day's remaing, I would feed for 10-12 more days then start the flush in preparation for the harvest 👌 Not long now my friend and thank you for the diary update 👊 All the best ✌️ Mark..
