Well here are this weeks pics of the Girls. They are getting so big. I have been defoling 4 or 5 of the bigger fan leaves every other day and cannot keep up with the growth. If you move ANY leaf there is baby leaves under there just waving at me. I will probably start flower this week. PS, flushing these babies is the key. Prior to flushing I thought they grew rapidly, but afterwards they went CRAZY! I am having trouble keeping up. Will probably do a 20% defol today then wait for them to recover then switch to flower.

Per defol, is it true the less budsites you leave after defoliation,(cutting smaller budsites and stems), the bigger and better your buds get and increased harvest weight? It seems like reverse to me...

hey man yes, basically for defoliation people over do it on the leaves which leaves the plant with less tools to absorb the light energy for photosynthesis. bad leaf defoliation can hurt yield, increase time to harvest, that sort of thing.... however pruning the flower nodes especially the little flower nodes that are located down the branch that will stay small, the so called popcorn bud, if you remove them early enough in flower , then this will force the plant to send the energy to the upper flower sites and these will get fatter, actually improving the yield. I hope this helps my friend ! i will follow and see how it works out for you ! πŸš€

Update. They have slowed down a little. Probably seeing the effects of if the defoilation I did. Little worried, but I'm sure they will be fine. Just a nervous dad here. Lol. I was seeing massive growth but seems to have slowed alot. Still grew a little, just expected to see her new branches grow out some. But no, she is popping out nodes like none other. Already has 2.5 nodes brushing out fighting to see who can be the shortest. Lol. Like really close. Idk. I hear that you want right mode spacing but damn, seems like they are just dwarfs. Seriously like maybe 1/8 of an inch between nodes. Anyone else?

@Mrs_Larimar, Yes you are right. I just get so over impatient when I see them grow so fast. I will wait until next week before clipping anything else. Just focus on training for now. And I dont think I will let my manifold fo 3 nodes on each side. If she continues to show growth like she does now I will be over run. I only have 4x3x 8 total and with light restrictions I can probly let them get as high as 5 feet safely and that is with my light all the way up. Thank you for your direction. Have a great one!!!!

@OkieJim,Thats nice but think about letting her rest after you cuttings

OkieJimcommented6 years ago
@Mrs_Larimar, it worked!!! You were right. My babies are now 8 inches tall and grew 3 inches since raising the light !!! At this rate you are hitting the nail on the head. I already removed the second nodes on one of them and she is doing great. Like really great. It seems to have helped her make room new growth. This evening I will take the second nodes from the other plant and wait 2 days and top the ends of my manifold. So excited. Hell might just cut the 4th set of nodes and top the 8th. That would give me 12 main colas on each plant since they are portraying such strong Indica traits. Especially for such a Sativa dominate strain. Wow. Thank you so much for your help.

Lol. Yup. Already got some Moby Dick Critical Purple and some BlackBerry Cush popping. Lol.

Soooo, looking at the structure of these girls. It looks to me like Raelynn is going to keep her Indica dominate traits and Raeline is going to go for the taller Sativa dominant traits of their phenotype. That is pretty exciting! Opened the box this morning and Raelynn is still the same height where Raeline decided she wants to be almost 4 inches closer to the light!!!! Raelynn has way bigger buds than Raeline's, but Raeline is still stretching. Guess we will have to just kick back and watch to see where this goes. Lol.

So these gals are stretching out finally and I have way more budsites than I anticipated. I think I need to lollypopthese girls now they have some height. Probably wait until Saturday. Drinking up a gallon and a half now. I need to get more nutes. Just popped the top on my last 3 quarts of the flora trio. Will get them this week after Christmas. Does anyone have experience with jungle trimming this late in flower???? Merry Christmas!!!! πŸŽ…

I have 16 budsites. One plant has a mutation and grew a double site! So there are 9 on that one. The other I had an accident with a yardstick while checking ph levels and it smooth chopped off one of the mains at the stall! Sad day. LST has helped some but not alot up to now. When they start stretching I hope to be able to tame some of this wildness. Should be able to as long as I stay on top of it... Thanks man for the warm comments.... getting excited....

So changed our flush water for medium strength nutes last night and they are doing great. Looks like they liked the flush. I believe I am going to start changing their reservoir every 3ish days moving forward for a few weeks and see how they like that. Their stalks now measure 1.25 inches in diameter. Looks crazy because of how short they are. I have a few pistols showing themselves on both of these girls. Awesome. Things are happening...

My friend, you are battling a losing cause. The plants WILL take over. You will obey!😱 I suppose as long as the main bud sites, and their stalks, are exposed to the light, you don't have to worry about all that foliage. Maybe leaving it alone is best. You are getting a little more stretch. That is good. It's a shame your plant is so damn healthy!πŸ˜„
Quexos
Quexoscommented6 years ago
@OkieJim, Ideally you are supposed to lollipop them, but there has been too much growth. Luckily they will stop producing leaves in the next few weeks. Maybe then you can slowly contain that amazing jungle.
OkieJim
OkieJimcommented6 years ago
@Quexos, Thank you for the kind words. That is just it. If they didnt seem so healthy I would try something different. I KNOW THERE IS A JUNGLE IN THERE just scare 3d to do anything about it in case I do see some stretch and so forth. I will wait another week and see what they do. Then I will decide what direction to go. Want to lollipop them but I feel like that is the wrong way to go. IDK....

Ok, I wanted to say one more thing...I think you should only grow 2 plants in there at most. And my last piece of advice, get those nutrients and when you do get some hydroguard for your basin to help battle pythium. Ok, done with the rant.
BeefWellingtons
BeefWellingtonscommentedweek 16 years ago
Ok, a couple of things; 1. Cover the empty pots with tin foil, as they tend to allow dead foliage and light into the basin. 2. Make sure you have about 1 cm of space under your netpots, so bubbles break and splash up under them. 3. Keep an eye on your ph and try to obtain 5.8 ph every day. 4. Don't give them nutes til you see 3rd set of leaves. 4. Go easy on the the nutes at 1/4 strength at first. Good luck with your grow, ask questions if you need help. Update: I guess don't use tin foil cause it can burn the plants, cover with something less reflective, but that still blocks out the light.

Take a look at the Maxlite PhotonMax. It comes in a 600w and a 1200w. Yours might be the 600w. It looks pretty similar. There is a PDF file on their website.

Thanks man. My bad... that was supposed to say 238 grams man. Sorry for the confusion ..Yeah i got my license to Grow in Oklahoma and I am going for it. Lots of research and lots of work. And not to mention lots of cash. Blessed man here bro. I will upload more budshots tomorrow when I let them breathe. Peace man... i plan on starting a diary with my big grow. Hopefully I can get close to 180 plants down. But I only have 30 HPS lights and a few others. Hoping to flower 6 under each light in a grid. Wish me luck.... I really appriciate all of your guidance and support brother. Its been an awesome road.... if your ever in Oklahoma.... just sayin.... lol

LoL, you whacked them up good in that last/first photo! There was no way your were going to hurt them though. Those plants are far to healthy. You are going to top them one more time for the manifold then flip to flower? Are you supposed to let them grow out a few nodes then cut them back like the main topping?

Flushing. Knew I need to do it, just been too busy doing other stuff to consider how to flush them. Probably gonna wait till they start fading yellow. Or my trics?

@Mrs_Larimar, I tried it. I put some in a bottle of vodka to see what it does for flavor. Interested.... I will let you k bnmn ow how it turns out tomorrow. Thanks for the idea!!

@OkieJim, This time you got alot of leaves, I am not throwing the leaves away. They have Healthy-benefits. i put them into freezer for storage, and if i want to do some smoothies i put them into the blender. I also made "Green -gin", and infused redwine with " raw" green leaves. Its not quite psyhoactive but you have all the " goodies" and benefits out of the plant without a big high. You can stack up the benefits that way

@Mrs_Larimar, definately! And thanks for stopping by. I thing I wanna run in the 20% area. Nervous and excited at the same time.

Ph keeps dropping cause they are drinking up. It means you are doing stuff right, even though its frustrating to keep on that ph level.

@DinafemSeeds, thank you for dropping by. That is what I am hoping for. I am starting to look at the trichromes now. Little harder to hold my hand steady enough to take a good pic with this microscope, but I will learn. Lol. I have seen a drastic change since I changed lights for sure. These babies are amazing. I put them through some heavy trials and they came through like champs!!!

@OkieJim, With that extra light that will take your grow to another level πŸ‘ Considering this is your first grow your doing fantastic with our Moby dick πŸ‘Š Going of the pictures I would say another 21 days remaining. Would you agree my friend? All the best ✌️ Mark..

OkieJimcommented6 years ago
@DinafemSeeds, Yes I see that now. I just invested in a quad quantum board setup. Gonna be pushing close to 1000w. I keep looking back and seeing what I am going to do differently. Just got my Purple Moby Dick deeds today.cant wait to start my next grow. I am going to run 8 plants in my new build. Thank you Mark!!! Super excited

The girls are looking great! Are you starting to check trichomes yet? They still have several weeks left, but you might as well get into the habit of checking them periodically. That way you will get the experience of looking for them and gauging whether they are getting close to harvest. It will also give you some ideas as to when to stop feeding, and when to start flushing.
OkieJim
OkieJimcommented6 years ago
@DinafemSeeds, awesome. I just updated these girls. I will probably stop feeding them in a couple days now. Got a little amber showing and they smell dank as dank can be!!! Gonna start flushing soon. Thanks for stopping by man!!!
DinafemSeeds
DinafemSeedscommented6 years ago
@OkieJim, They look fantastic mate and you can see they are really starting to pack on that weight πŸ‘Š By the look of things they still have around 21 day's remaing, I would feed for 10-12 more days then start the flush in preparation for the harvest πŸ‘Œ Not long now my friend and thank you for the diary update πŸ‘Š All the best ✌️ Mark..
