Set up and ready to fire it off. Just waiting on my ph kit before I start. I live in a very rural area so have to order everything. Custom built 3 x 4 x 8 box. Needed the extra height for this huge grow light I am using for veg and flower... need about 36 inches from canopy. Lol. Feel free to critisize. I am a new grower. Just wanna grow some quality medicine.

Grow Questions

Per defol, is it true the less budsites you leave after defoliation,(cutting smaller budsites and stems), the bigger and better your buds get and increased harvest weight? It seems like reverse to me...

Techniques. Defoliation
CRiSPrGrow answered grow question 4 years ago
hey man yes, basically for defoliation people over do it on the leaves which leaves the plant with less tools to absorb the light energy for photosynthesis. bad leaf defoliation can hurt yield, increase time to harvest, that sort of thing.... however pruning the flower nodes especially the little flower nodes that are located down the branch that will stay small, the so called popcorn bud, if you remove them early enough in flower , then this will force the plant to send the energy to the upper flower sites and these will get fatter, actually improving the yield. I hope this helps my friend ! i will follow and see how it works out for you ! :rocket:

Ok, a couple of things; 1. Cover the empty pots with tin foil, as they tend to allow dead foliage and light into the basin. 2. Make sure you have about 1 cm of space under your netpots, so bubbles break and splash up under them. 3. Keep an eye on your ph and try to obtain 5.8 ph every day. 4. Don't give them nutes til you see 3rd set of leaves. 4. Go easy on the the nutes at 1/4 strength at first.
Good luck with your grow, ask questions if you need help.
Update: I guess don't use tin foil cause it can burn the plants, cover with something less reflective, but that still blocks out the light.

Ok, I wanted to say one more thing...I think you should only grow 2 plants in there at most. And my last piece of advice, get those nutrients and when you do get some hydroguard for your basin to help battle pythium. Ok, done with the rant.

Take a look at the Maxlite PhotonMax. It comes in a 600w and a 1200w. Yours might be the 600w. It looks pretty similar. There is a PDF file on their website.

@OkieJim, Sorry, but i really don't have much knowledge when it comes to hydroponics. I'm an old guy. In the stone(d) age, we grew in soil. I used to buy Super Soil back in the day!

@Quexos,hey I got roots growin out the top of my rapid rooters. Do u think I should employ the paper plates to cover them? Didnt expect the roots to grow so fast...!!!!

@OkieJim, Well I commend you sir for a job well done. Not to mention that besides the hype over QB boards, your lights have resulted in insanely nice yields in the past, however I wouldn't put more than 2 plants in that space, either way, you will love the outcome! Good luck on your grow, I will follow.

@BeefWellingtons,
Thank you. It was more work than I originally anticipated but hopefully the rewards will pay off. Edjucation being the number one reward.

Good luck on your grow! Once you get your system dialed in, you will see tremendous changes in your plants.

When I switched to my newish lights, I looked them up on UTube and other places so I could find out how other people were using them. I was able to make the transition from a UFO Blurple light in a Space Bucket, to a 600w Cree/LED with absolutely no problems.

You have the right idea making small adjustments here and there. Once your plants are happy and adjusted, you can twist one up and watch the show!

@Quexos, honestly I have not been able to find any documentation on my light! That has been my problem and main point of worry for these babies. I havent searched cree yet though will do so now. Feel like a dummy for that one considering how many hours I have searched to no avail. Thank you for chiming in.

Nice. Thank you for confirming my curious notions about feeding nutes too early. I was thinking past their 2nd node, but i will listen to you and go for a third. I plan on starting 6 and picking the best looking two and rehome the others to a friend. Nervous about growing just one just in case things go the wrong direction at some point.
I went with General Hyroponics flora Series Performance pack. Also have Calimagic and hydroguard. Think I am only going to use the trio out of the pack though since this is my first grow and I dont want to overdo it and hurt myself in the long run. I harly read about anyone using all of them at once. Have you ever used any of those before?
Thank you for the guidance.

Still gotta hide ropes and cords. But just anxiously waiting on the ph stuff so I can rock on....
