West Coast OG - 4AM - First Grow Ever

This is my first grow ever and I have decided to try autoflowers first. I have a 2X4X6 tent with a Philzon 1200W ( 300W actual ) LED light. All seeds were ordered through HDSC and are West Coast OG Kush and California Gold Rush by Fastbuds and 4 Assed Monkey from Mephisto Genetics. I have planted 1 of each strain straight into a 5 gallon smart pot with 70% Happy Frog Soil and 30% Perlite. After wetting down each pot I placed in my tent for a couple hours and then I made a small hole to drop the seed into. I will keep the light off for 6 hours and then turn on VEG only at maximum height until visible. I will then go VEG & BLOOM for full spectrum and wattage for a 20-4 cycle. I hope to introduce a small amount of Fox Farms Soil Nutrient Trio in a week or two. Edit: All 3 seeds sprouted and grew to 1”-2” in the first week. I think I may have planted too shallow because my seed shell was stuck on OG and Gold Rush. I was able to spray them with water and gently remove the split shell. I am now actually growing! I watered with only a spray bottle for first 3 days then on day 4 I added about 1 cup of water to seedling area. On day 6 I added about 2 cups water to the seedling area. So far just distilled water. I am planning my Fox Farms Trio schedule and thinking of starting with 1/6 strenth 10/21/2018 Seeds into ground 10/24/2018 Seeds pushed through soil

Week 2 has been both exciting and boring. Everything appears to have slowed vertically and started to fill in with leaves. I also had to add an inline fan to keep temps in the low 80s. Exhaust seems to be my biggest problem so far. Waiting is the hardest part, I feel like today’s youth and want instant gratification 😂. I am technically on week 1.5 since I started directly in soil and had to wait for germination. I plan to start something similar to this on day 14. (Taken from another forum, I’m not stealing credit for this) I am hoping this feeding schedule is good for the first few weeks and will adjust as needed. Week 1 pH water only 1.5 add in Big Bloom to the mix at 1/2 tea spoon 2 1/2tsp Grow Big 1/2 tsp Big Bloom 2.5 3/4 tsp of grow big 3 1tsp grow big and 1/2 Tiger bloom 1/2 tea spoon Big Bloom 3.5 1/2 tsp Grow Big 1/2tsp Tiger bloom 4 1tsp Tiger bloom 1/2 tsp Grow Big 4.5 Clean pH'ed water to clear out salt build up 5 2tsp tiger bloom 1/2 grow big 5.5 1 Teaspoon Grow Big 6 Begin Flush for the final weeks. At this point i can flush for a week before i begin to see yellowing of the fans.

Day 15 - Added 1.25 mL of Big Bloom to 1/2 gallon of water and split into 1/3 for each. So far I have worked my way up from 1 cup to about 16-20oz per watering. I’m not sure I’m doing it right but I am watering every 2-3 days. More to come later this week. Day 21 - Really excited about the progress so far. West Coast OG was in the center and directly under the light and I noticed it started to curl upward. I switched places with 4AM and it seems to have improved. I have the light about 16” from the top of the center plant. I watered each with 1/3 of 1 gallon of water mixed with 1/2tsp Grow Big and 3/4tsp Big Bloom. I have also started LST. Being my first grow I am learning a lot and already looking forward to my next grow.

I'm on day 25 from seed and it seems to be going good so far. I'm watering every 2-4 days with tap water and every Sunday I am adding Fox Farm Nutrients. I water each plant with 1/3 of 1 gallon of water which is a little more than a liter of water every 3 days. I feel like I need to water them more but they never droop and seem healthy. Edit: Day 26 - 11/15/18 First signs of flowering - smell has intensified (Filter Ordered) My tent seems big for 3 plants so I hope they hit a growth spurt. I'm still not sure how to get the best yield in my space. I am allowed 6 mature and 6 seedlings so I'm working out the details to get a rolling harvest going. All I've ordered so far is auto seeds for my first 3-4 harvest and thinking of getting a smaller tent for seedlings to get an auto harvest every 30-60 days. I'm still in shock I can do this legally in my state and was also informed I cannot be terminated from employment for a positive random test if I have a valid medical marijuana license (which I do). A huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Thank you for listening to my rant

Day 29 - Starting week 5 Watered with 1/2 tsp of Grow Big, 1/2 tsp Tiger Bloom, and 3/4 tsp Big Bloom. Day 35 Watered with 1/2 tsp of Tiger Bloom and 3/4 tsp Big Bloom The flowering has started and I’m getting excited to see buds. I also installed a 4in carbon filter and stronger exhaust fan. I plan to use 3 gallon smart pots next time and put more plants in my tent. 4

Day 36 - California Gold Rush 17" - West Coast OG 13" - 4 Assed Monkey 10" Starting week 6.

Day 43 - Starting week 7 California Gold Rush - 20" West Coast OG - 14" 4AM - 13" I'm pretty sure I put the wrong nute in last week and caused some burn. This week will be 1/2 tsp Tiger Bloom and 1/2 tsp Big Bloom every other watering. A couple more weeks before I begin my final flush. I've been researching the best way to cure and dry. I will have another grow going so my plan is to hang them above my tent hoping the filter will help the smell. Edit: 12/4/18 So when I received the Fastbuds package there was a sticker on it that said "3 free seeds California Gold Rush". Upon opening there were 3 seeds noticeably different so I thought I received 3 free seeds of a strain called California Gold Rush. Since it was my first ever seed order I had no idea the free seed promotion was called California Gold Rush and in fact all 8 seeds were West Coast OG. So like an idiot I emailed fastbuds last night and they responded in just a few hours to let me know. Here it is week 7 and I have been wrong this whole time.

Day 50 Things seem to be going good. I am showing a Nitrogen toxicity that I’m thinking I created by giving Veg nutes to late. I also think it may have stunted the bud growth as it slowed until I watered a couple more times. It doesn’t seem to be spreading but I’m showing a few leaf tips pointed down. Also showing a little burn on a few leaves. All in all the buds seem to be growing and I’m waiting for harvest. Any advice is appreciated as is good or bad feedback. I want a good couch lock so I will wait as long as needed. Being my first grow I will be relying on this community to help determine when to harvest. Happy Growing.

Day 57 - Starting week 9 I think I have entered the harvest window for OG Kush #1 with OG #2 and 4AM just a few days away (I think). Please give me any and all opinions on when to harvest. I will have a "Carson MicroBrite Plus" from Amazon in 2 days to have a closer look. I have decided to hold off on my next grow in order to dry in my tent with the light off. Any tips for this method is greatly appreciated.

Day 64 - Starting Week 10 West Coast OG #1 will be harvested soon. The other 2 still have a few days. I have a large cardboard box I will use inside my tent to dry. Not ideal but it's my only option. Day 66 - After 36 hours of darkness I cut and trimmed West Coast OG Kush #1. It was such an exciting experience and I can't wait to try out my own. I now have the whole plant hanging in a large box. Temperature in my tent is around 77* and my humidity is around 30% so I plan to leave it whole for 2-4 days. I might put it in a brown paper bag if I feel its drying to fast. Trimming was very fun this first time and I look forward to harvesting the other 2. I will update when I have dry weight, any thoughts or tips are appreciated.

This plant was healthy from the beginning and progressed well the whole time. I had it planted in 5 gallon smart pots and I think I may have prevented them from reaching full height due to hesitation of watering to much and not starting nutes earlier in low amounts. I gave the plants enough water to stay nice and green but with my pot size I feel now like I didn't water enough to let the roots expand and basically created a smaller pot within my 5 gallon. After trimming all the leaves while still potted I then cut the plant at the base and proceeded to trim all the sugar leaves. After trimming I hung it upside down to dry and I will remove individual stems in a couple days. I have low humidity so I will be monitoring closely and trying to achieve a 5-10 day dry before jarring. For my next grow I plan to use 3 gallon smart pots with more plants and watering enough to use the entire pot. After examining the roots from OG#1 I feel my suspicions are correct and feel my root structure could have and should have been larger. I am hoping for 25 grams from this plant but being my first grow I'm just happy getting all 3 to harvest. Overall I think I'll get 65-85 grams from all 3. Edit: 73g total from the 2 West Coast OG Kush plants far exceeded my expectations and made me very happy with my LED purchase (Philzon 1200 from Amazon). I am still considering a HID or CMH but this light is very capable and sufficient to grow some quality bud.

Harvested on day 73 with about 10-20% amber. After drying for almost 5 days shes ready to cure. I was pleased with the 33 grams from this 4 Assed Monkey and overall pleased with my total harvest of 106 grams. More to come after curing. I took the discarded trim from all 3 plants and put in the freezer after drying and used it to make dry ice hash. I was able turn my trash into almost 2 grams of hash. I used 2 bags and was surprised by how much it produced. The first size I used was 120 (1.3g) and the second was 220 (.6g). the 220 has some more green to it and the 120 has a little also. Next harvest should produce more trim and I plan to use the 73 micron to get better quality next time. This was my first grow so I just wanted to test out my dry ice bags to learn. I have to admit it was one of the easiest and most rewarding processes. I purchased 1.6lbs of dry ice for $3 and used a clean 5 gallon bucket to mix everything together. Watching it cover the sheet of glass as you shake it is very cool and it produced much more than I thought it would. You can also taste both the OG Kush and 4AM since the trim was from all 3 plants. I’m probably not supposed to post links so I will just say that Grow Weed Easy dot com was a great resource for me along with this site.
