Very resilient plant. The phenotype I grew didn’t stretch much during the 12/12 flip. I’ve seen some monster Hulkberry; my girl stayed fairly small. Bounced back quickly from any defoliation, topping or training techniques I put on her and responded well to nutes. No complaints, very good experience.

Cal-Mag supplemtation is essential in distilled or RO waters. Added Silica Blast several weeks in to help with branch flexibility in my training but I believe it made a difference in the overall resilience of my plant.

Will give a full harvest report in a couple weeks after the buds are done drying and have started to cure but I have high hopes! Without tasting them I can comment on the fact that the aroma they give off is a very strong pine scent. Very surreal experience to finally chop her down and that all these weeks of care culminated to this. When I started this grow I was hoping for each plant (there were 2 originally) to give me about an ounce and I’ll probably end up around that goal in dry weight. I’ve already started my next grow and I can’t wait to keep sharing them with the friends I’ve made here. Thank you. FULL REPORT: After several days of drying I ground up a few popcorn buds to share the fruits of my labor with some good friends. I expected the smoke to be somewhat harsh since it has yet to cure but to my surprise that wasn’t the case at all. It produced a very smooth smoke that tasted heavily of pine and was almost cool on the exhale. My friends claimed to taste fruity notes but that flavor must have escaped me. The high was fantastic and I definitely produced a wonderful strain to be social with. I have the tendency to become very introverted and retreat into my own mind (or worse my phone) when I’m high. This wasn’t the case I was relaxed and wanted to have elaborate conversations. As the high continued it gave way to the most intense fits of giggling I’ve ever experienced. Who knows who started laughing first but none of us could stop. This has been a great experience and it’s meaningful to share and enjoy something that was the result of my effort and care. Look forward to the next grows! Thanks for tuning in to the diary. 0

Good evening everyone, simple question. When do you recommend using carb sources during flowering and for how long do you recommend running them?

Hello! You ate talking about carbohydrates (sugar) right ? So you start adding carbs just after the stretch of your plant when you buds starts to swell around week 3/4 of flowering, it is nearly impossible to overdose carbs like molasse so you can't really over feed with catbs. You can add carbs until the flush. I hope it will help you 😁👍

For a couple weeks there has been some redness in the stalk which I’ve thought nothing of. However, today the edges of some smaller sugar leaves have started to turn purple. Temperature is staying as noted above, should I be concerned?

Hey there so the red stems can be many things. Genetics, purple strains, berry strains, common. Phosphorus deficiency and magnesium too, but you have a good nutrient line up so unless you'rehaving lockout or ph problems I'd say not nutrient related. The 1st thing i saw was your lower humidity which can also play a role just as much as high/low heat can. Your plant seems overall healthy though, so i wouldn't stress too much...but of coarse finding out the source of our problems is always good. My guess is either the genetics or slightly humidity temp based...i think anything under 70 degrees will start initiating color changes. Happy harvesting ✌️

You aren't going to harvest until Valentine's Day? That's a long ways away. Those buds look choice BTW.
Quexos
Quexoscommented6 years ago
@LazLow, I can't make that decision. I'm imagining 6 more weeks of flowering based on your photos. That's a 12 week flowering period. It just seems long. I guess you are right. In terms of flowering, its not that much longer. Honestly though, its not about the number of weeks, or the pictures. It's about the plant finishing up her lifespan. If it takes 6 more weeks, then that's how long it takes.

The Carbs are for the microbaterials of your soil, and you can give it anytime to your plants. Just mix 1 tablesoon into 2-3 liters water. And do your waterings with it. you can use any sirup, either Sugarcane or Sugarbeetsirup/ blackstrap molasses. You can run them until the last day of the plant.

Quexoscommented6 years ago
@Mrs_Larimar, I started using Recharge this grow. It has the microbes and a food/carb source. Its made in Fort Collins, CO. This will be first time using it.

She is looking great! Nice job opening up the bud sites! She is very resilient strain. You really don't have a lot to do now that you are in flower. Just keep the under canopy clean so the buds get all the energy, and you are cruising. All tht training pays off when its flowering time!

Those are some great bud photos this week! You can almost see the trichomes. They look pretty milky! Good luck with the harvest, especially the trimming! I've watched a ton of videos on trimming and curing. Some are really good. Did you see the UTube video where the guy dunks all of his buds in water? It's crazy!
Quexos
Quexoscommented6 years ago
@LazLow, Not a chance! I'm too scared. It isn't just water though. There is something in it I thought. There is another grower who takes big chunks out of his buds when they are young. Supposedly they cause the buds to grow bigger and more dense. Again, if it works... I would never be able to do something like that. I'm a big chicken. It's taking me several grows just getting up the nerve to lollipop the under canopy to keep it free of popcorn buds. I let everything grow!
LazLow
LazLowcommented6 years ago
@Quexos, just checked it out. Had no idea water curing was a thing I would have thought pressure alone would dislodge trichomes. That’s wild. You considering trying it out?

What a great little plant! The ridges on those leaves!😁 Great buds growing! That is a strange picture of your stalk. How did that happen? I'm guessing you are at least 5-7 weeks from finishing. Those buds have a long way to go! You are about 3 weeks into your girl showing flowers. I'd say about +/- 10 weeks total for flowering. Be patient Grasshopper.

@LazLow, Hehe! I've only grown one.😁
LazLow
LazLowcommented6 years ago
@Quexos, I thought that would probably be the case since we’re on a 12-12 light cycle, I’ve obviously never grown autos before so I didn’t know if that would effect them as much but I figured it would definitely slow them since the main benefit is being able to give them more light throughout. Just seeing if in your experience there was a clever way to go about it since I have the space that’s not being utilized
Quexos
Quexoscommented6 years ago
@LazLow, I'm not sure that is a good idea. It would certainly confuse your new photo seeds. The autos probably wouldn't care, but 12 hrs of light vs. 18-24 hrs. of light is a big difference in terms of growth and buds. Patience is the hardest part about growing herb. I've been trying to improve my grows, and one of the first things that sticks out is how long I let my buds mature. I don't wait long enough and my harvests haven't been as good as I'd hoped.

Nice light! 😎 Give her a bit more training to spread out that canopy and defol a bit to give those lower buds some light then flip away! She looks ready. You did a nice job of training.
Quexos
Quexoscommented6 years ago
@LazLow, She probably won't skip a beat. You might see a little slow down, but it will pick up pretty quick. Next grow, stagger those tasks. Defol, allow them to recover, then flip.
LazLow
LazLowcommented6 years ago
@Quexos, so I took your advice and just defoliated fairly heavily to open up the canopy. My plant looks lean now lol but I just flipped her to flowering and we will see! I’ll trust the advice and the process she’s healthy and hasn’t had any issues bouncing back from topping and defoliation so far!!
Quexos
Quexoscommented6 years ago
@LazLow, I probably defoliate too much, but I will trim fan leaves as soon as there are fully formed new ones to take their place! I even trim away leaves during flowering. Anything that either blocks light, or draws energy away from the buds. As long as there are enough leaves available for efficient photosynthesis, the plant should be fine. Indicas are the worst. I had to trim fan leaves, or the rest of the plant was in shade!

Again great looking buds! Nice work! I had some problems with my tips slightly burning towards the middle to end of my first grow. I was feeding AN pretty heavily at the time. I just changed my schedule to feed-water-feed. It never completely went away, but the plants never seemed to suffer. Also, keep in mind your soil might have a lot of nutrients already. Some growers use hotter soils then don't feed. It sure would save some money! I'd check your lineage on this strain. Your temps are low enough to trigger a change of color. My last grow I had a plant go purplish at the end. I didn't know it had it in her!
LazLow
LazLowcommented6 years ago
@Quexos, yeah I feed every 4-5 days so probably only 3-4 feeds left before flush. 🤗🤗🤗
Quexos
Quexoscommented6 years ago
@LazLow, You shouldn't have that many feedings left before its time to flush and harvest. Based on your projections you have about 5 weeks left? If you are feeding heavily, you have about 3ish weeks left to feed before its time to finish up and start flushing. Don't make any drastic changes at this point. Maybe replace a feeding or two with water.
LazLow
LazLowcommented6 years ago
@Quexos, I know that Hulkberry tends to be sensitive to nutrients but for a long time I was able to feed her fairly heavily (whether that was right or not) with no issue, finally caught up to me. Yesterday was her last watering and I cut the overall nutes down significantly, got rid of micro, got rid of bud candy, got rid of molasses. I added silica blast back and upped bloom for its phosphorus content while cutting big bud in half. We will see

Its an easy hobby to get hooked on. I started out my first grow in a space bucket. I promised my wife I wouldn't get carried away. After 30+ years you'd think she knew better. I didn't even make it through my first grow before I bought a tent and some nice lights. Now I have 2 tents. Are you going to do a Diary on your autos? I have mine up. They are chugging along nicely. What genetics are you looking at? I'm interested in some of the breeders I've been finding in the U.S.

@LazLow, I'll keep a look out for it. That Skywalker sounds like it would be fun to grow! I should check it out on Seedsman. I have my eye on Acapulco Gold seeds from Barney's Farm.

@Quexos, yeah I’ll end up doing a diary on the autos, It’s just a Blue Dreamatic and a 24 Carat. This spring I’m planting some Peyote Cookies from Barney Farms and some Skywalker Cookies that were a one day only limited edition genetic Seedsman put out during its Black Friday specials.

Nice followin!, that must be the quickest pheno, if its strong, a keeper for sure. Waiting for the smoke report if you havent tried yet.
LazLow
LazLowcommented6 years ago
@Darkgreenkid, I just ground up a few popcorn buds before jarring it to cure and I was impressed. Surprisingly smooth smoke for not being cured yet. Sativa dominant and strong but didn’t produce any paranoid effects, mentally I felt nice and relaxed and was able to be productive which is my favorite sort of high. Only ended up with around 36 grams when it was done drying.

@Quexos, thanks man! I’ll probably give them a taste in a couple weeks and share a session with some close friends to finish updating the diary but then it’s right back to curing.
