Justnblaze Just started my 2nd round grow with this strain. In my week one photo's is the harvest from the 1st go round with these genetics. Definitely made mistakes and it still came out wonderful. Seed cracked about 4 day ago and first leaf sets are starting to develop nicely. Going to LST this one because the first one was over 4 feet tall! Not going to feed until week 3/4 because we started with Ocean Forest.

Justnblaze She is showing some preflowers at this point. Everything going smoothly. I think the LST so far has done it’s job keeping a relatively even canopy. No issues at all, look forward to seeing how this one turns out. Growth should really start taking off at this point. Started with a light feeding regimen as well.

Justnblaze Going nicely still no issues. This one doesn't look like it's going to be as monsterous as my last run. Happy with the shape and height. Flowering should really start taking off now. Going to see how much she'll eat. Last run was a heavy feeder. Cheers and happy growing

Justnblazestarted grow question 7y ago
Uh oh, I was just checking my plants today and I noticed one or two little worm lookin things. They look like thrips from all the stuff I’ve seen. There isn’t many maybe 10 that I saw and removed myself. Now that my plant is going into full flower I’m not really sure what to do.

HI @Justnblaze! Sorry to hear this... Regarding pests/worms/bugs, prevention is the key. Pest prevention is an essential topic, you need a pest-prevention-strategy as soon as you plant your seedlings, during the first days. My strategy is pretty simple and consists in 3 methods: 1) I have a mister working 20min every hour to diffuse essential oils mixed with fresh water (a few drops of lemongrass, lavender, peppermint...you can find those oils in nature-stores or online). Those oils are repelling insects/pests, they don't like the smell of my room. 2) I spray neem-oil almost everyday during the veg stage when the light turns off, 10-12 drops of pure neem-oil mixed in a liter of temperated water, this oil is really efficient to kill/disturb/sterilize the invaders. 3) I use a dedicated foliar spray (BioBizz LeafCoat) once every 2 weeks to create a 'transparent layer' onto the leaves and to protect them from spiders/thrips/moths/miners... Since I've applied this approach, I've seen ZERO invader in my room, and believe my it was a big problem in the past. Now that your plants are flowering, you should avoid spraying any chemicals/pesticides, even neem-oil could ruin your final product, so here are 3 things you can do, 1/ spraying pure RO water at night (but be warned this can lead to bud-rot if over-done) and 2/ use a sponge to wash your leaves with neem-oil (mixed in water with a bit of soap), this solution will glue to the leaves and repel the thrips, 3/ Get some ladybugs, they love to eat thrips and other tiny indaders, and aren't offensive for your plants. I hope this will help, keep us up-to-date and happy growing 👊

Justnblaze Going well so far, am just turning into the beginning of week 7. Looks like for the most part the thrips were taken care of by the cold press been oil treatment the past few days. Looks like in certain spots it may have burned a tiny area or two but better than having bugs hanging around. The thrips have been completely wiped out at this point so all is going well. Going to bump up the feeding a bit to see if she can take some more.

Justnblaze Things are moving along nicely. Looks like it’s coming towards the last few weeks now. Glad the big issue was wiped out completely. I’m not sure if it’s just damage from the spraying but I’m noticing a few brown and yellowing areas on a fan leaf or two but the plant looks healthy otherwise. As of 1/3/19 it’s been exactly 56 days from seed

Justnblaze Going to feed her once or twice more and then nothing but water for 2 weeks. Plan right now is to take her down around 11-12 weeks. Has a nice gassy sweet smell similar to gorilla glue rather than classic gsc. I need to get a stake because the branches are now almost touching floor from weight, good problem to have!

Justnblaze Just giving her straight water now. Tomorrow marks week 10 (day 70) and she’s looking and smelling ripe. Plan is to chop her next week at 11 weeks give or take a day or two. Beside the few days of thrips no real issues. Much like last time towards the end it looks at if leaf septoria sets in...not sure if it’s my issue or what but this is the 2nd time it’s happened with this strain and it’s not the only one I’ve had in my garden so it seems more susceptible to that so beware if you’re growing her. Other than that pretty easy she eats heavy and grows fast and puts out some heavy buds. Had to tie up the branches from so much weight.

Any opinions on a dark period before harvest? Worth doing? If so how long—24/48/72 hours? Anyone notice any difference or benefit from having it before the chop?

hey Justnblaze, dark period is important why? well three reasons, first of all after a dark period of 12hrs or less the plant has less photosynthesis chemicals in it which means the "cure will be better", aka a smoother better smoke. Second THC and terpenes actually get degraded by light so what happens when the lights come on the teprs and thc get burnt off so a dark period at the end allows the plant to "catch up" and get that flavour and strength in there. Getting strong weed is 50% growing and 50% curing, THC also comes from the cure actually ! a dark period of 12-24hrs helps, in fact you should chop and dry in the dark too, because once you chop the cure starts and light is the enemy of the cure. So the difference is a better, fuller taste and a stronger more potent smoke. Anything above 24hrs of dark and the trychomes start degrading though. hope this helps ! 🚀

Happy Harvest Day!

Will update with bud shots/smoke report after a good dry and cure. She was in the dark the last 72 hours of her life and looks and smells fantastic. Got her hung in the dark with good ventilation as well now as the whole plant. The buds look pretty dense and gooey and smell is mostly a diesel/berry but predominant skunkyness for sure. Easy grow, little thrip problem that was wiped out quickly and some leaf septoria again the last days of flowering, beyond that easy to grow and the output is incredible. I’m guessing around 2oz dry give or take a little.

Justnblaze Starts slow then bursts into flowering and really packs on the weight the last week or two. Last run I chopped at their reccomended 9 weeks—I’d say that’s about 2-3 weeks short of what you really need to get the full potential of this particular strain. I notice the buds have developed substantially more with the extra time and without losing trichromatic potency. At just about 12 weeks this time she is mostly 50/50 cloudy amber. Last time was mostly cloudy so I’m hoping this time it’s a bit more couchlocky. I’ll report back with photos and a smoke report after the dry and cure.

looks nice , how much did you get off your first try
Justnblaze
Justnblaze commented7y ago
@DILLIGAF, about the same ~2oz’s but chopped down the first run at 9 weeks. If I had waited another 2-3 like I did this time I’m guessing it could’ve been a lot more. It was a monster plant about 4.5ft tall compared to this runs nearly 3ft more compact plant
