After a few months of absence, I am happy to see you all again and to be able to practice and share my favorite hobby with you.
I made a choice of 6 beautiful varieties from the magnificent catalog of Royal Queen Seeds.
My selection is based on species that are about the same in size and flowering time.
I make a separate diary for each variety.
1. Royal Cookies: I had already bred twice before. It remains one of my top favorites.
2. Royal Gorilla: I have bred last time, and is also recommended.
3. Special Queen: once bred with fantastic results. Moreover, I have also seen this species in two other growers, both indoor and outdoor. An immense plant. Respect!
Since my last grow, RQS has added a lot of new varieties, which is why these news:
4. Purple Queen: Purples used to be not so good. But the new generation of purples is fantastic. It is now winter where I live, so during the last 1-2 weeks of cold nights the beautiful purple hues will be able to fully develop again.
5. Green Gelato: Have heard a lot about Gelato, but have never been able to enjoy it. I'm going to change that!
6. Fat Banana: I can not imagine anything, but the name sounds wise. The expectations are therefore high.
DAY 16 First time Topping
DAY 17 Repotting from 0.5 l. (BioBizz light-mix) to 3.5 l (Canna Terra grow +)
The plants show a slight shortage of nutrients, but by potting them to the new nutrient-rich cultivation soil, the shortage will soon be solved.
DAY 29 Plants are doing great. Tallest plant = 17.cm, Smallest 13 cm
DAY 30 Topping 3rd time
DAY 33 Repotting 2nd time from 3.5 l .to 25 l..
50 liter B'Cuzz/Atami Bi Grow Mix (0.7kg/m³ 12/14/24)
10 liter Plagron perlite
140 gr; Vertraforte (= 2,38 kg/m³ 6/7/12))
3.57 gr Biotabs Bactrex
35.71 ml Biotabs Orgatrex (5/1/5)
All plants from tall to small :
FB1, RC1,RG1,SQ1,SQ3,RG2,PQ3, RC2,FB2,PQ2,GG1,SQ4,SQ2,GG2;RG3,SQ3,GG3,PQ1
FB = Fat Banana
RC = Royal Cookies
SQ = Special Queen #1
RG = Royal Gorilla
GG = Green Gelato
PQ = Purple Queen
DAY 44 All plants are super healthy
Slow growers with many Indica influences
I have manually bent them every night to obtain a reasonably flat canopy
Plant nr. 1 : 25 cm
Plant nr. 2 : 32 cm
Plant nr. 3 : 37 cm
DAY 46 The plants were visited by Oyzi Scissorhand. Neatly cut and now ready to be put in bloom.
A week of hard work with defoliating, debranching and manual bending in order to obtain a nice flat canopy, from 5 to 7 main branches per plant.
Now they are ready to go into the flowering process 😜
The first weeks these plants grew rather slowly because of its Indica genes, but last week they started to grow considerably. Especially plant number 3 is a real topper. Great expectations for this one !
DAY 2 :
Purple Queen #1 : 36 cm
Purple Queen #2 : 44 cm
Purple Queen #3 : 52 cm
DAY 7 : Defoliation & debranching
DAY 9 : Height :
Purple Queen #1 : 50 cm
Purple Queen #2 : 60 cm
Purple Queen #3 : 68 cm
I put some support under the pots to obtain a flat canopy
Purple Queen grows very slowly during the first few weeks, but since last week they have grown crazy 😻
DAY 12 ; Defoliatioin of the plants for the last time and stretching a net to support the colas.
I had to remove some main branches because they were already too far behind in comparison with the other branches. Otherwise these branches would receive too little light.
DAY 16 : Because of the net, I can no longer photograph the plants in front profile, and that is why I now take photos from the top. Only from plant #3 I could take some pictures in front profile because she stands on the outside of the garden.
Still no liquid nutrients, only root stimulator. Vertafort and Biotabs do the job fine (for quantities see week 5).
Plants are very healthy. No signs of shortages, no problems with too much nutrition.
Purple Queen #1 = 67 cm ; 4 colas
Purple Queen #2 = 49 cm ; 4 colas
Purple Queen #3 = 89 cm ; 5 colas 😍 My Favorite 😍 Beautiful dark green leaves with a deep purple tint
It is the first time I breed Purple Queen and I am so curious to see what metamorphosis they will undergo in the following weeks.
The plants had a slow start but the last weeks they are going through a growth spurt.
Plant n ° 3 is a beautiful specimen. You can already recognize the beautiful purple color of the ovaries below the white pistils.
The plants do not show any nutritional deficiency, but they have been in the same soil for several weeks. So I started to feed them with a fourth dose of Alga Bloom, half a dose of Green Sensation and half a dose of Sugar Royal.
Purple Queen n°1 : 81 cm
Purple Queen n°2 : 76 cm
Purple Queen n°3 : 99 cm
I'm in Love 😍😍😍
with Purple Queen n ° 3.
She is such a beauty queen. Beautiful structure, royal colors, excellent leaf / bud ratio. Delicious fragrance .... Very promising ...
No grow anymore.
Purple Queen n°1 : 81 cm
Purple Queen n°2 : 76 cm
Purple Queen n°3 : 99 cm
Very pleased with this new strain from Royal Queen Seeds.
I have fallen in love with Plant n°3. What a sweetheart ! Few leaves, beautiful buds and so beautiful in balance. Nice purple tones already, (before having her cold nights - in the weeks to come. A top model, super photogenic.
Plant 1 & 2 are beautiful plants, but if you have a top plant like plant 3, then you really fall in love.😍😍😍
Plant 3 is so photogenic, she is a supermodel: collas like thick fat candles, beautiful shades of purple, an ideal leaf/bud ratio and a seductive sweet berry aroma. Ooh ... what am I looking forward to be able to taste her ! 😊😊😊😊
I switch to cold nights of 10 ° C to get all the purple out. 🙀😻😾
DAY 44 : pictures 😎
DAY 39 & 43 & 47 : Defoliation yellow fan leaves
DAY 47 : start flushing , no liquid nuts anymore
DAY 52 :
Although all three Purple Queens are beautiful plants, there is only one that makes the name true. 👋
Purple Queen n ° 3 is a wonderful example of how beautiful a Purple Queen can be. 😍😍😍
No more liquid fertilization, so no unpleasant odor or taste is present in the final product. Only pure water to rinse away all the remains as much as possible. 😰
At night they get cold nights (10 ° C), so they can develop their beautiful colors. 😜
If you want to know more about the height of the plants, check WEEK 12.
DAY 60 Harvest
Last week, plant n° 3 is still my favorite plant because of her beautiful purple colors. But this week she had finished flowering and her beauty started to vanish 😰😨
But last week it was mainly plant n°1 that surprised me, by having a fantastic final sprint.
Plant 2 is the lesser sis. But she's still a very nice plant.
An absolute top strain. Beautiful sturdy plants with little leaf for an Indica. Beautiful, wonderfully smelling buds with a solid structure.
Iincredibly delicious earthy aroma pine and hints of citrus and forest fruits
A minus point: not all plants turn purple
All 3 Purple Queens in my seed pack have become beautiful Queens, but they did not all turn purple, despite the cold nights I gave them during flowering.
By allowing the buds to cure for a long time, they got an incredibly delicious earthy aroma pine and hints of citrus and forest fruits
Yield:
#1 53.4 gr
#2 49.1 gr
#3 62.4 gr
These look amazing. Everything I have seen in your diaries looks like top shelf. Super impressed!!
Silly question but how can I follow your diaries? I must be missing something because I can't find a follow button on your profile or on any diary pages.
@robotdinosaur, Thank you very much 😀I do my best.... 💪 I think you can follow me, by pressing on the follow button on the top right of the page. The button wil turn green and my name will end up in the list on the right side of your screen. You can unfollow by pressing the follow button once again.
Ooo they look lovely...them colours coming through already....I have these on the go at the moment...only 4 or 5 weeks into veg tho.
You're doing a cracking job mate..keep it up🙏😎👍
Many Thanks, Hydrohoppy ! 🙏 I got 3 plants. Plant n°3 is really showing off her purple genes. I'm going to give het 2 weeks of cold nights. So please check them in a while ✋ I wish you all the best with your grow !!
Hey there northnut, that's a phosphorous deficiency , the plant just needs more P in flower , a PK boost will do the trick I guess. I can't see what is in your feed but if you've been feeding already it could be P lockout - so just be aware of that. Looks great so far though ! Hope this helps🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀
